- Everything thrown (can't recover a spear you have thrown into sand while you can recycle flamer fuel you've used to burn a scorpion with? who designed it that way?)
Up to this I could not argue too heavily, playing a melee character, the're are a few points where to make hits you have to expose yourself to too much attention and suffer the wrath of faction rep loss, detection from hostiles or hostility from your action from neutrals.
Thrown weapons give you the edge back, silent high damage, ranged limb targeting in V.A.T.s all of which means a great specialty weapon.
With big guy targets you can make use of them as well, target one in a crowd and throw to draw it away then take on one on one.
Enemies are not allways on the same level or within reach of your attacks which makes them of use again.
Weight, price, rarity, lack of recovery and lack of most merchants stocking them however detracts, you're right.
