There is a CHANGE in visuals.

1080p 51 Inch Plasma connected via 1.3 HDMI Cable.
Been playing the game non stop since it's been out.

I am not here to troll or complain, I am stating what my eyes keep telling me, and I can ASSURE you there is a difference.
The difference? The game doesn't look as "Good" anymore, there's more "Jaggies" everywhere, and the shadows feel "less smooth".

I kept saying I must be fooling my self, I kept fast traveling around the beautiful world of skyrim, something IS different, the game doesn't feel as "pretty". idk if it's gloom, or AA, but for god's sake SOMETHING is different, I know it, I feel it. I just can't pin point where.

Before the patch everywhere I walked I was amazed and wowed by how beautiful the game is, now for some UNKNOWN reason it doesn't feel "Pretty" is it just me? or is anyone here feeling something has changed by can't pinpoint "what" exactly.

No I did NOT start the game with the new patch and say "hmm, they lowered the textures and made Jarl's ass a little smaller". BUT SOMETHING IS DIFFERENT!!!

No trolling please, I will ignore you.

I DON'T CARE IF YOU SAW THE Picture/Video going around the forums, Low resolution Screenshots don't show what I am seeing.

UPDATE:

I saw someone post this on the forums. SEEMS exactly right. I can now say that this is what I feel has changed.

I read the threads and rumours about the texture changes in the patch prior to me upgrading and was hesitant to try it but after patching I can add my thoughts to the discussion. I don't have any picture/ video capture technology but my opinion of the changes are as follows:

1. Texture quality remains the same
2. Anti Aliasing has been reduced or switched off
3. HDR or Bloom has been reduced or removed
4. Advanced features (like rain drops appearing on your screen as they 'hit' your eyes) has gone
5. Much of the clutter has gone - for instance in Whiterun Jarl's palace the tables would always be laden with a feast of food, now they are all empty plates. So they've removed much of the incidental clutter that provides immersion
6. Distance fogging/ blurring has gone. I can now see with crystal clarity ranges for miles ahead. This is better I think than the blurring in the previous patch but the graphics are now too sharp and look unbelievable.

All in all the framerate has improved but for me it's taken a big thump in immersion

and another one:

As well as the my previously listed changes (AA, Bloom, Clutter, Distance fog) the dynamic lighting seems to have taken a belting too. Dungeons seem to be filled with more static lightning (or perhaps a lot of the dynamic lighting has gone).

Playable? Yes
Enjoyable? Yes
Pretty? Not as much as before

It is very hard to comment on differences you are not aware of. I see no difference from 1.1.20 to 1.2 and I am using both a 48" and a 23.3" HDTV (livingroom/bedroom). I am betting that is why people keep requesting screenshots or video comparison on these changes.

Aye, if it's just something you can't quite put your finger on but you're sure it's there, it's probably a placebo effect. You heard that there's a drop in quality, so you expect it, you look for it.

You can't find it, you don't know where it is, and you really can't see it, but you know it's there.

I think it's all in your head... Still, I'm using an SD TV, so it'd have to be one hell of a change for me to notice. Alas, too poor to buy an HDTV...

I understand, I don't have any sort of tools nor actual "Proof" that there is a change.

But for some reason the game doesn't feel "Pretty". I keep revisiting specific areas and I swear something changed. I understand many people will say "Nothing changed", Im just sharing what I feel, Im sure there's others who felt something is different in the visuals.

Anyways, soon enough an actual detailed review will come out. I have a gut feeling about this.

But in the end, I really don't care. My eyes told me something is wrong. Mind you, I drive for FedEx Express and get my eyes checked every few months, near perfect vision.

But at least I can get back and play the game.

That's a whole lot of text to say that you perceive something to be different, cough up some comparison screenshots or videos and your words will actually carry some weight.

Well, as I said, it may not be your eyes, but just your mind playing tricks on you. The power of suggestion is pretty strong, after all - if you believe there'll be a drop in quality, you'll think there is when you play.

Some vague feeling that something might be different is not a fact. Only comparison screenshots have any weight in this department. I myself personally have NOT noticed any downgrading of textures, they look the same as always. The game never really looked amazing from day 1: if you compare the textures on LA Noire for example (last game I played previous to Skyrim), the ground looks amazing in LA Noire. Skyrim has never had such high detail, probably as the game is so much bigger.

I was not suggesting that your eyesight is lacking, so this comment was not really needed. I am not discounting the fact you see something different at all. I would honestly just like someone to show me what they are talking about. I see in posts "minecraft graphics" "eyesore" "Morrowind graphics", you get the idea. In my mind I am thinking "There is NO way the patch changed anything that much, without me noticing." I mean... that is like taking BF3 and patching it to I dont know... MW2?

I do not doubt that there may have been some small change I am not seeing, so I just do not understand how it could affect someone so negatively.

Don't mind the comment, I wasn't really trying to attack you by any means.
I've always been a graphics junkie, I pay too much attention to detail, was seriously wowed when I got the game, even 2 weeks into it, every time I traveled it felt so "pretty" and smooth.

Now I feel like it's ugly lol.

Anyways, Im glad the issues are fixed. Ill eventually get over it, glad I don't have to restart my system every 2 hours. Back to gaming!

I have been thinking something is different, i posted yesterday about what i believe was a possable graphic drop since the patch. But i was very confused and unsure as to if or not is was all in my head. The first thing i thought i noticed were the textures in my house, things just didnt look the same.
The fruit on the table etc goblets didnt look the same, less prity. I then like most of us went on a visual tour!

Outside Whiterun looking back at the town things looked more subdued and less polished, but fraps were better and the game felt far smoother, even though i didnt have any of the known issues, i did notice that improvement. So i visited Riverwood and was surprised that the town looked way better, water trees gama etc all looked much more vibrant.

Anyway after playing a couple more hours last night i think there is some kind of graphic change, and it may be a texture glitch like whats been reported in the past.
I returned home and now things looked as good as before the patch and Riverwood still looks better than ever. Frame rate is for sure better and i do think the loading between areas is slightly longer. If someone told me i was mad and nothing has changed and i was proven to be mad i wouldnt question it.
But if i had to stake my house on it i would say yep textures graphics are being strange , graphic drop or bug or me bein mad ? just not sure

Sentences like this almost make me wish I started playing before the patch. Almost.

Sometimes when I'm wandering near Riverwood it feels like I'm playing Operation Flashpoint again. (a game that's 10 years old!)

The grass, trees and bushes are very reminiscent of that game, what can I say. It's only when I look at the nearby mountains and night sky that I remember I'm back in 2011 playing Skyrim on PS3.

Sandwiching Skyrim between Uncharted 3 and Red Dead Redemption really isn't going to do me any favours. Granted, neither of those games (well, haven't played RDR yet) have the depth of Skyrim, but they'll push the PS3 to its limits (and not in a game-breaking way)

I see the downgrade in textures too. Actually I saw them right away, when I started up the game after the patch. Textures in my Whiterun house had definitely changed.... the ceiling, furniture, and so on. Textures on mountainsides and rocks seems to have been lowered too. But I think some people will not notice these downgrades, while others are more sensitive to graphical changes.

I've played over 70h before the patch with an 7,8MB Savefile. No "big lag bug", only minor stuttering in some places, especially the forest region near Riften. After applying the patch, nothing changed. I would not say that there are any overall framerate improvements. Riften area is still stuttering. Save file dropped from 7,8 to 7,2 MB and stays there. The only thing i would say i noticed is that item textures in the inventory no longer scale down occasionally. But that can also by only imagination.

But if you say you are sure something in the gfx quality is missing but you can't nail it down to a specific thing its very likely that your "skyrim-is-new-euphoric" is simply gone.
Or all this hate in this forum simply pulled you down.
Simply play the game and enjoy it, and don't let others destroy your experience.

I noticed one weird change in graphics after the latest patch.
Now I can see a barely visible line, which makes circle around my character, its radius is about 5m, and for example shadows are much much better in the circle. Shadows beyond this circle has much worst graphics, like lower details. I haven't encountered it before the patch.

You said it was a fact, so where is the evidence to prove that fact?

I haven't seen any changes in textures or graphics post patch, and the only person on here who has provided any evidence is Zidane Tribal, and his video shows there haven't been any changes in graphics, and if there are the difference is negligible. I think what's at play here is people have been reading about the graphics/texture downgrade, began freaking out about it, and then convinced their self that the graphics are downgraded. Mass hysteria > confirmation bias.

The graphics still looks the same other than player shadows on grass being disabled and lower anisotropic filtering quality.

Yeah I agree people have assumed there is a quality difference so people are CONVINCED it is true, once it is in the back of the mind their eyes and brains do the rest! I too am running through HDMI through my 52 inch Full HD LCD screen and I have not noticed ANY difference whatsoever even after running around for 3 hours, except that it is alot smoother now :) Graphics look EXACTLY the same as the guy with the video and screenshots proved, stop being paranoid and go play Skyrim ! It is NOT fact btw it is a dirty rumor that has spread with no grounds.
