The BAR uses 20 round magazines. And unlike the BAR the M-14 was totally uncontrollable on full auto....the Army eventually removed the selector switch on issued rifles for that reason. Yes, they are obsolete as far as modern warfare goes but the Courier has the luxury of tooling up based on the player's personal style. If I can shoot my way to victory in this game with a semi-auto sniper rifle, a pump action shotgun and a single-action revolver...I can do it with a BAR too....
Thanks for clearing that up. My goof, I was thinking of the M1 (as opposed to the BAR)! That being said, without delving into such things a cyclic rates and other such real world nonsense, the BAR is still a goofy choice for an "in-game" weapon, especially compared to others that would be more concurrent with the firearm tech as the game presents it...
Hell, if I were to
really nitpick, I'd be griping about the relative weakness of the 10mm compared to other, lesser "real life" calibers. That one really gets the shaft!
Onto the rest of the DLC, it sounds really cool, but I've gotta ask... As cool as getting gold bars is, who really cares? They serve no exclusive purpose that can't be performed by many other things that are already available to any player, other than decoration, and even then, is 37-40 any better than, well, whatever you can carry? You can't kill anything with them (except yourself), no vendors in the game have enough to buy even 1 from you, let alone more, and given the state of housing and companion interaction in it, it seems that all you would be doing by using them decoratively is giving them away to one or more of your companions.
I guess I'm just a bit more pragmatic than most here...
