Things we've found in Dead Money.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:29 am

i forgot to mention that i also found an acoustic guitar.

Where ?

Anyway this may be a tad spoilery but, I am going to warn everyone get everything you want, it appears this dlc was a one way trip, no pitt or point lookout going back and forth, so if you want something you have to get it while you are there for your first and last time.

I'll make a mental note of this when/if PS3/PC gets the DLC

PFFFFTTT, if its a once in a life time chance to collect unique items. I'll strap a unique lead big horner statue on my back and walk back to my Vegas suite with crippled legs if thats what it takes to nab everything unique that isn't nailed down

It's somewhere in the Villa, I believe near the police station, in a room filled with the cloud that has a hole in the wall on the top floor. Next to the whole there's one of those composers stands with a Patriot's cookbook on it, along with an acoustic guitar leaning on the wall adjacent to it. Wish I could give more specific directions, but I'm no where near there right now.

Sadly to complete the last part I needed to run. SO no overencumberance, also I was weighed down with other unique items, bear trap fists, spars, the BAR ( one for fighting one for decoration) the unique armours. I got atleastone of everything (except that guitar) so I may go back in. NVM I can rob the drifter with no consequences, apparently he will have another anyway :D Now I just wish I baggged more gold, its so heavy, but looks so awesome. i dont want to sell it... I want more,to decorate my room. Obsidian were sadistic here, there were like 35 bars... Yeah at max strenght you can get 300, so max is 9... They were mocking us... I hope more gold in future dlc.

I hope the BAR isn't reality based, but somehow "lore" related, as the "real deal" is pretty much, (as far as Fallout tech goes) a non-starter, not to mention the fact that you need an entire new ammo category/caliber to make it run.

For its time, it was a devastating weapon, but that time passed very quickly, to be replaced with what we now refer to as an "M-14". Face it, a "SAW" that held only 10 rounds, however effective they might be, does nothing for the "spray 'n' pray" doctrine of modern (i.e.-post BAR/WWI) combat weaponry, especially once you need to mitigate the effects of recoil on those 10 rounds.

The BAR uses 20 round magazines. And unlike the BAR the M-14 was totally uncontrollable on full auto....the Army eventually removed the selector switch on issued rifles for that reason. Yes, they are obsolete as far as modern warfare goes but the Courier has the luxury of tooling up based on the player's personal style. If I can shoot my way to victory in this game with a semi-auto sniper rifle, a pump action shotgun and a single-action revolver...I can do it with a BAR too.

A "Hunter's Rifle", in the same caliber would be much more effective. The "lurv" for this beast must come form some WWII FPS that glamorized its role in actual effectiveness...

You mean the Hunting Rifle we already have. And the BAR was legendary long before WW2 shooters came to be.

EDIT- After looking at further posts, it seems that the general consensus is that the BAR is (and somehow "should be") a .308 weapon, when in fact it was actually .30-06...

If such is true, at least from a gaming standpoint, it still would be inferior to an M-14, as the later model had several more features to increase durability, accuracy, and ammo capacity.

In talking about the BAR being in game, it's assumed the devs would make it .308 rather than introduce a new caliber (.30-06).....a deviation that is acceptable because the logic behind it is clear. They can always up the damage slightly to reflect the .30-06's greater power. And the M-14 is a fine service rifle but a awful SAW, and wasn't used by the Depression era Bank Robbers like Dillinger and Bonnie & Clyde......or in WW2 for that matter. And the BAR and M-14 both used 20 rd mags. People who choose to carry the BAR in game will be doing it for stylistic reasons....not just to be uber like some kid picking the M-14 EBR in MW series without knowing a thing about it's history.

After you finish, in the BoS bunker.

Why run? D:

Well I was sneaking out and there was a gap I needed to jump or I would die. Or thinking back I could do it the other way, drag all that gold out if it kills me... Brb.

If your PC you could just spawn it ?
Just tried, and no matter what, you need too be quick it seems, so no overencumbered gold.
Also just checked its 40 bars.

35 pounds and 40 bars? Why would they give you a treasure you cant carry off? :unsure2:

The dlc also has the theme that you have to let go.
Its bitter, no way of going back, no way to get all of the gold, you can get a few bars, thats it.
I just tried, you need to take a route that is timed. You cant be overencumbered or you will die.

Depending on how wide the gap is. Maybe you could just throw the gold across? :spotted owl:

I'd stuff it in a bag and blow it up!
Mwhuahaha so the treasures shall be forever consumed in the depth of the winter night's fury in the never ending lava cress of the dooming BAR liquids...of...death.

This is so much better than, say, cracking a vault in a Strip Casino and finding... 3 caps. Seriously? You needed 100 Lockpick to get THAT?! I'd rather be forced to find a way to carry as much as possible while still leaving SO much behind.

I'm very happy about this gold thing... and I haven't even really started playing the DLC.

Damn Obsidian :verymad:

@Bouncer If possible I'd find a way. :spotted owl:

Edit: @Granite- Well according to TIMN, the gold is 35 pounds and there are 40 bars, and you have to make a wide jump at the end. So it's impossible to take all the gold with you. :sadvaultboy:

I just want it in ymroom because its rare, and limited. But the max you could get is 8 bars. And that would leave 20lbs left, meaning you wouldnt be able to get all the other unique items.

Yeah I tried several ways, the way out requires you be under the weight limit, and yo cant move the bars like other things. so unless your on PC there is no way :( ... Dlc suggestion to rob another casino with gold anyone ?

I know a gold bar is roughly that heavy IRL, but seriously, Obsidian makes me annoyed with this, I mean seriously, I'm a collector, and when I can't collect, I get mad e_e
