@ Metro

Maybe it was just the ghost of a deceased Taco Bell mascot, come to bring you a stuffed burrito?

When I was 7 I swear I saw a ghost in my grandmother's(200 year old mind you) house.

I can see it clear as day, I told my mom and she didn't believe me. To this day I still think about it very frequently, there's no way to explain it outside of it being a "ghost" but I know I saw it.

I want to know what banged on my bedroom door at midnight during a power cut five years ago.

Oh man, you reminded me of the second scariest thing I've ever encountered.

I was probably 10 years old, in my room, setting up my large collection of toy soldiers and tanks on my dresser when all of a sudden, something started banging on my closet door from inside the closet, and yelling ferociously (it sounded like an infected from 28 Days Later). This was loud as heck, and since we had just moved into this house, there was nothing around to muffle the noise; it surely echoed throughout the house, because it was echoing like mad in my room. Anyway, I bolted out of my room so fast, I caught the door with my foot and broke off a large chunk of it, and when I leaped into the living room not more than fifteen feet from my room, my parents were just standing there, picking out wallpaper.

Also, I broke my arm when I was 13, and I stayed overnight in the hospital because I weighed so little, the doctors wanted to make sure the anesthesia didn't have any ill effects on me. I woke up at some point in the night, and saw the silhouette of what I thought was my dad sitting in the chair next to me. Boots and long hair, is what I recognized; but what confused me was the cowboy hat the guy was wearing, my dad doesn't even own one of those. The next morning, when I went home, I asked him if he went to the hospital overnight, and he said no. That's weird, but then again, I was on pain reducing drugs, so that might not even be real.

Also, my mom told me that when I was young I used to cry during my sleep and she would have to shake me for minutes until I woke up. And when I was 12 I woke up in a puddly of blood on my pillow, apparently I had a major nosebleed during the night and I was very very dizzy and lightheaded when I woke up. And, again according to mother, i was a major sleep walker, and one night I walked into my mom and dads room and just stood and stared at them for like 20 minutes, and once I walked to the kitchen sink and sat in it

This got me thinking about when I was probably ten or eleven I slept walked down stairs and open the back door and walked into the backyard. I'm not sure what woke me up, either the rain or the house alarm going off.

When I was about 8 or so, this kid down the street and I hung out periodically. He had problems like ADHD, Insomnia, Anger, and strange Hormonal Influxes. Basically, he was somewhat strange. He was cool enough, though.

Anyways, I was completely scared of his dad. His dad had a thick North-German accent and they came from Berlin, I think (which is odd, because his accent would put him further north than that). Anyways, it's summer, and I'm going across the street to ask another kid that lives in the neighborhood to play. I look down at the strange kid's house, and I swear to God, his dad was looking at me, legs spread, head steady, arms out, holding a pistol. I bolted behind the car across the street (which had huge tires) and snuck a peek down at where his dad was, and he was in the lawn next to their house (as opposed to behind it, in his lawn), aiming the pistol at me. I bolted from the car to my friend's door, and his sister answered the door. She said they were eating and couldn't come out, so I figured maybe I'd peek to see if crazykid dad was still there. Sure enough, the second I look around the corner, he raises his arms again and aims the pistol at me. I frantically knock on the door again, and the sister comes out again, and I plead with her and finally convince her to watch me cross the street. We both go out, her first, and when we look, he's casually talking on the phone with one arm behind his back. She says "Wow..." as I bolt across to my house.

Gah. I have no idea why that guy would point a gun at me, but I was scared until they finally moved a few years later.

I was once reading a discussion board and I swear on of the posters was a female puffer-fish!

When I was about 15 I came home from school and was alone in the house. I was doing the dishes, I had one side of the sink plugged and filled with soapy water and the other side unplugged for rinsing and I would then put the dishes in the drying rack. Above the sink was a window with a view of the backyard. I looked up and saw something. Imagine taking a piece of fishing line and attaching it to your body starting at the top of your head then running it down your spine and down one leg, imagine how that string would move as you walked around. What I saw could best be described as that string, but with no one wearing it. It was just a partial outline of a person walking through the backyard. My firs thought was that a piece of fishing line got caught in a draft and had blown across the yard, but size, shape and manner of movement didn't fit. A few seconds later I heard some noises coming from the end of the house where this thing seemed to be heading. I went to that part of the house and into my room because my bedroom window also faced the backyard so that would have been this things next stop. I found that my closet door was open (I always kept the closet shut because it creeps me out to leave it open) and an empty shoe box that was on the top shelf in the closet was now laying open in the middle of the room. Nothing else was out of place, I kept my room very neat. I put the lid back on the box and put it back in the closet. I went back to the dishes and found that all the water that had been in the sink was gone and all that was left were wet dishes, specifically glasses all standing up and full of soapy water. Had I intentionally pulled the plug to let the water drain I don't think it would have fully drained in the time it took to go to my bedroom and back, but the plug was still in the drain. I told my parents when they got home from work, my mom just said "that's weird" and my step-dad said "it sounds like you just need to keep your room clean", to this day I'm still not sure what my step-dad was talking about.

Oh yeah, and about that banging on my door? I was standing next to the door at the time, and opened it immediately. There was no time for anyone to run away, and there was nobody else upstairs at the time.

Once when I was little, I had to go some place (I forgot where) and a bank. At both locations, I saw the same guy who was eating what seemed to be a sandwich and shaking his head when I pointed at my father.

And once when I was 3, my older brother was at school, and I looked backward and saw him on the couch and he just faded away.
And once when I was a little kid, I was playing with my friend and my aforementioned brother, and I just saw a black existence go behind my shed.
Recently (I don't know if this counts), in my window, I saw a red light just flash (small and not bright) whilst moving location. Whenever I got up to look at it, it stopped happening. I think it was a street light or something, but I don't know why it would appear to change locations and why it only happened temporarily.

@turns,
You know, that happened to me as well. We had wood floors in my old house that squeaked a lot. Well, it was very late at night and I heard foot steps come towards my door and it seems like it was walking with a limp and since no one in my household has a limp, I thought it was strange. It too banged at my door once and limped off into my living room. Strange Indeed...

I did not "see" this, but 2 or 3 years ago, I heard some shrieking from my downstairs. It sounded like a creature (not human), but it theoretically could have been a pipe or something. My family members have reported this, but on different occasions. I also heard some breathing, like someone just took a strenuous trip. I think it was on the same night.

Once, when I was 9, and my family lived in west philadelphia, I was playing in my backyard, and three men in black robes with red eyes were staring at me from the woods that are behind our house. Every time I went back there ,they were there, staring at me from the darkness. When I was 14, one of them started moving through the trees. I ran inside and told my mom. My mom got scared and said "You're moving with your Auntie and Uncle in Bel Air". I looked at my kingdom I was finally there, to sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.

When I was 6 years old or so I saw something that really freaked me out.

I was playing in my room with my toys, when I turned around and saw a black figure(and I mean BLACK, not just black clothing but black) standing by the window. He seemed to have some sort of hat on, and long and sharp fingernails, but the creepiest part was that the only visible part of his face was two glowing red eyes. He just said "run" and I did, I ran screaming to my mom. When we came back up to my room there was nothing there, but the window was open: a second story window that I was never physically able to open(it was nearly painted shut, and besides they didn't want me falling out of the window) and that didn't have a way up.

I honestly have no freakin' clue what it was.

Was he wearing a fedora? YOU MAY HAVE ENCOUNTERED HATMAN. Aided by my trusty friend, who is named Diphenhydramine, I've tracked down and met hatman many times. He is exactly like you've described. Except he's always very nice and polite to me.

I once bumped into my parents room when they were "sleeping" and I still don't exactly know what they were doing? But I tried to block most of that memory out over the years so...I guess I'll just leave it to that...

We have that in our house, too. He hasn't knocked, ever, but he has... waited. Like, you can feel him there, and hear him shifting from one foot to another. He usually waits outside my mom's room, which has always worried me.

I have only one though it could be couinsidence. It seems that a lot of the time when I just make random predictions in conversation without really thinking about it it 90 percent of the time comes true. but when i do think about it it doens't. weird been that way my whole life.

I can totally relate to this.
