So I think I'm done playing this game

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:56 pm

Omg is this thread still alive? :( Who cares if you are quitting the game, what do you want us to say, congratulations? Move on, go and have fun with your friends and family if you have some, seriously I don't know know why everyone feels they need to tell the community when they are not playing Skyrim anymore! I stopped for 2 days to play MW3 should I post a thread about that?

I don't know about anybody else, but I've taken my time playing Skyrim.

I've clocked 200 hours over several characters, each with different playstyles, rules, motives, etc. I haven't even started the DB or either civil war questline, and I haven't finished the College or the Main Quest. I've enjoyed every minute I've played Skyrim, and have to keep myself from making new characters to try out different builds.

Any game that can get me to play more than 60 hours is a success in my books, so 200 hours is legendary. I think I may have gotten 200 hours on Morrowind and the same with Oblivion, and that was over the course of several years. No other game has gotten me to play this obsessively for so long in such a short amount of time, other than WoW, which had a subscription fee and multiplayer.

Skyrim is nothing short of a masterpiece, bugs and all. I have yet to experience any glitches or bugs that even slightly ruined my enjoyment, or ones that I can recall at all, even though I have seen a few. If you let the bugs ruin your game, that's your problem, but it seems like a waste.

To be honest, the random NPC reactions are one thing I don't like about the game. In fact I wish they would just say their lines once when I enter a city and then shut the hell up after that unless I click on them. They are the one thing that totally ruins the immersion in the game for me since they say the same crap over and over and often make comments that are totally inappropriate as well as not recognizing what I've accomplished. The mage in Dragonsreach, still keeps making the same inane comments about how I might like the College long after I've become Archmage there. I want to beat his face in every time he says that now. And it really annoys me when NPC's talk down to me after I've accomplished superhuman feats that saved their wretched lives. They should be praising me not showing me disdain. So I have to agree about the NPC's. If there is a major weakpoint, or flaw, in Skyrim, the NPC's are it. In fact I avoid towns for the most part once I've visited them simply because the repeated dialogue gets on my nerves so badly. Other than that the game is fabulous. Once I'm away from the town settings and am in the middle of my next adventure I forget all that and start having fun again. But in the future I hope Bethesda can figure out some way to make the NPC's more diverse just as they've done with the dungeons. The dungeons in Skyrim are one of it's very best features. Every one I go into is different. That part of the game is just amazing. If they could do the same with the NPC's I'd be happy. But at the very least they shouldn't talk so damn much.

Oh and one more thing, why are all the kids so annoying? The are all the most obnoxious, irritating bunch of brats I think I've ever seen. I want to kill every single one of them.

I loved Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I liked Skyrim at first but now at about 50 hours in I just don't even want to play it any more. I've conquered Alduin, saved the world and almost single handedly won the civil war for the Imperials. I still get treated like crap by almost every NPC. So then I try to kill them, but half the named people in the game are unkillable. I instead retreat to my house in Solitude. None of my mannequins work, half my weapon racks don't work. My wife charges me money to get some items from her, so I punch her one time. I yield but she refuses to accept so I kill her. I am the ARCH MAGE OF THE COLLEGE but I am expelled for killing her like I am just an apprentice. Also kind of crazy that they even knew I killed her since I did it in my own house which is on the other side of Skyrim from the college.

Walk outside and guards tell me I fetch mead for the companions even though I'm the damn boss. Some thug wants me to help him steal money, and I can't refuse. I am forced by the game to be a common criminal or have a quest stuck in my log forever. Go out into the wild and single handedly take down an Ancient Dragon, and a thief who witnessed the entire event walks up right after and demands my money as if I'm some kind of pushover.

Yeah, gonna trade this in tomorrow and problably get New Vegas again. Definitely not even close to as immersive as Oblivion was.

I played morrowind, oblivion and skyrim. I really can't understand what people see in oblivion... Immersive? It was utterly boring!

What I condemn in skyrim, and I said this in other topic is that everything seems fresh at first. But after reaching lvl 30, you still have lots of quests to do but few things seem new anymore.

In first hours of playing you are introduced to new combat systems, new spells animations, new types of dungeons, puzzles, DRAGONS, werewolves,.......... OMG it's awesome!! But then, nothing more than some new quests and the same old stuff

You are bringing up issues with this updated game engine that has been present in the past few TES games. I too get annoyed at guards telling me I fetch mead. My house guard chick for the Solitude manor tells me when I enter "Can I help you friend?" like I am a guest and there to steal something. I have a dead thrall and everybody tells me I have a dangerous spell. The constant moaning gets old too after a while. Its totally asinine NPC response system for the most part. There is also a bug in that if you order your companion to grab stuff or trade it to them-somehow some of it is listed as "stolen" when I take it back. Even dragon bones/scales can be listed as stolen. The game adds all this up and some NPC's will treat your char like a thief type when you are not.

What I dislike most about Skyrim is the delay in releasing the CK. By the time the kit is out I will most likely be finished. If it was released right away like with Oblivion the mod creators would be all over this stuff.

I still love this game though. 160+ hours in and about to do the civil war at level 43. The annoyances in NPC reaction have not kept me from enjoying this game.

Lets see 50 hour at $60 give you a time ROI of .8333 (50hours/$60). Compare to say a movie you watch in a theater which gives you a ROI of .300 (3H/$10), There are other comparisons to make personally I have logged over 230 hours of play so me the ROI is of the chart.

I do not deny the things you sayed occur but so what I realize it is a GAME. To the person who mentioned you can see the whole world on the map. Well not really you can see the holds at the begining but there are ton of markers to be discovered, as well as things that don't show up on the map at all.

Wait for the CK it will only get better. Oh wait nm you said you where leaving, so nice of you to drop by and let us know. Bye bye!

I'm just waiting for someone to point me to the TES game that has all these things you guys are looking for, because as far as I know, none of the previous ones did any of the stuff people are complaining about in here. Nothing happens after you become the Neverine except for the skies clearing up. You could still go and kill rats for the Fighter's Guild like you were a nobody. You could join every guild and faction. You could kill everyone in a town, pay your fine, and no one would care after that. You could steal one random diamond from a shopkeeper, and after that no matter what you did with the original, you could NEVER sell that person a diamond again, EVEN THOUGH THEY DIDN'T SEE YOU TAKE IT.

Skyrim has improved the AI of the game so much, yet you're still crying in here like a bunch of babies. Bandits hear sounds and echoes and investigate, people hear rumors and share them with you, they'll pick up things you've dropped and if they like you enough, offer it back to you. NO, it's not perfect, and it's good to strive for more, but to sit here and pretend like NOTHING has been improved, that every decision they made was just 'dumbing down' the game, is ridiculous. The previous TES games had plenty of issues too, but you're all sitting in here waxing nostalgic as if they were sculpted in solid gold. They weren't, and it took both Bethesda and the modders months to get the game where YOU remember it NOW.

This game has been out for what, six weeks?

Six freakin' weeks.

*shakes head*

125 hours in, I just discovered a shrine hidden under a giant, ominous statue. It requires a key though, so I'm gonna have to find that. I still haven't found all the dragon masks, or the stones to a certain quest, or heck, even half the towns. I am offered new quests and new discoveries every. single. time. I start this game.

There's no way you've explored 100% of this game in 50 hours. Just...no way. Every dungeon is different, and many of them have quests or stories surrounding them. Every town has a secret- whether it's a political problem or a hidden cave just outside of town filled with vampires...I just spent 3 hours wandering around a mountain top I had not been to before. I was stalking a pack of wolves to pick them off before they saw me and a freaking dragon dropped *whump* right down on top of them! It scared the crap out of me, I had no warning whatsoever!

This world is filled with stories. If you feel like you've 'seen it all', I have no idea what to tell you. After the generic dungeons of BOTH Morrowind and Oblivion, this is such a refreshing change.

The OP is a hypocritical when he states that New Vegas and Oblivion were better games (which in no way is true based on the ratio of pros/cons in each game), but he does raise legitimate concerns and/or suggestions. He might have done it in a childish way by stating he will return the game (who cares), but I am saddened by the amount of [censored] in this thread.

I don't care if you think the game is perfect. THIS is a forum for discussion, for ideas to flow around so that Bethesda can improve their game, even if they don't read all the threads. IMO, there is no point to this forum if all people did was praise the game. A lot of these people make useless posts insulting the OP and telling him to leave, but I suppose that's more valuable than pointing out obvious flaws in the game. Now before you call me out, I do also agree with the people that've mentioned the amount of unwarranted complaints that are either incoherent or unnecessary, but the things the OP listed are legitimate.

Opinion noted.

Funny though, because at 150 hours between two characters, I still haven't completed the MQ or College of Winterhold quests, and I haven't even started the DB, TG, and CW quests.

Yeah, the things you mention happen in my game, including house glitches and bugs which I absolutely loathe. There are a lot of design decisions and mechanics that I think we lost from Oblivion.

But at the end of the day, it's all just opinion. Beth will make games the way they want to, and consumer feedback, while valid and important, will not always sway the people who create things.

I agree somewhat that it's annoying how your character isn't recognized for becoming the Harbinger of the Companions or saving Skyrim, but I don't think the lack of recognition for good deeds is enough to make me want to trade away a great game and an amazing gaming experience that only comes around every so often. If you've only played 50 hours and have done and completed all that, you blasted right through a game that is literally not meant to be blasted through. They put all these dungeons, caves, random encounters, miscellaneous quests, etc to motivate people to explore and encourage them not to just rush right through all their favorite guilds and factions, but to take the time to do and enjoy many other things the game has to offer.

Just like the person above me said, I to have spent round about 130+ hours doing so many other things and just recently completed Diplomatic Immunity for the Main Quest. The only quest line I actually have fully completed is the Companions.

It honestly sounds to me like you were the one that ruined your experience with Skyrim, not Bethesda.

Well in his defense, New Vegas does have a better story, better quests, more interesting perks, better combat, better dungeons etc...
The only bad thing I can think of, is the world. I just dont like the Vegas setting...
However they did a great job with filling it with interesting stuff.
