i think its official, the werebears are beths idea of a sick

You know, I blame this mind set on the Game Jam video.

Wasn't that just done as a "hey, let's see what we can crank out for funsies" rather than a hard set promise to players?

It was - but some people see it as a collection of things Bethesda absolutely MUST include (or, as seen in this thread, as things they have promised)... Which leads to whining, crying and raging....

This is why I never hold expectations for games. Never.

Unless some feature is explicitly stated as being in, I would take it as not being included.

People have wanted spears, horses, crossbows, throwing stars, throwing darts, rideable dragons, rideable guars, guns, werewolves, werebears, wereboars, and a lot more that I can't recall off hand. Just because something is seen in the game doesn't mean it is available to the player. There were guars with saddles, and guar with packs in Morrowind. The saddle guars weren't for riding, and the only pack guar the player sort of interacted with was involved in an escort quest.

So they worked on the horses, worked on the werewolves, worked on the crossbows... Whether or not the rest of the "players want list" will show up in a game is known only to the devs. Personally, I would prefer to find things in the game instead of knowing every single detail ahead of time.

If people want this thread to stay open, the sniping back and forth really needs to stop.

The assumption was mad eprobably because in the game jam the werebear looks like a playable mutation...

welp... This thread's getting locked soon. Where did it go wrong? The Original post... Immature really. Propose your problem in a mature manner. Withdraw from using terms like "troll" and confront the matter as if it were an issue in a video game and not with the amount of intensity of a 'real life' issue.

Don't get me wrong, were-bears and spears would've both been awesome to use purely for the sake of content and I'm quite curious as to what Bethesda has to say about why they went about things the way they did, but really? This amount of intensity is just not needed and provokes a sense of hostility in others.

Love it!

Completely agree.

Where's Goldbrand. Bethesda promised me Goldbrand. Or at least that's how I interpreted it.

Spoiler
/Sarcasm

I'll admit, it's kind of funny. Wish there was a Dovahbear reference Easter egg or something. Would've made it even funnier.

I think the werebears and spears thing is funny as hell. What makes it even worse, and funnier, is that the werebears look awesome as hell. And the spear thing working as arrows? Wow, that's a good one. I wanted these a lot, especially spears so I could play as a spartan, but this was just too funny for me to care. It's a good thing the dlc is so awesome. That's the only reason they could've afforded to do this. I literally laughed out loud when I saw that the spears work like arrows, and didn't even go very far.

I have a feeling we'll never again see another Game Jam-type video for any future Bethesda games. So thanks for that, guys.
That's a good thing, it means Beth won't wiggle things that could have been in the game given an extra few weeks of development time. Sorry, but I don't want to buy a product and then they show me all the other things they could have done if they just spent a few dawm more weeks.

What would be really hilarious is if there WAS a way to become a werebear, but it was incredibly rare/obsure to do so...like becoming a Jedi in the original Star Wars mmo. I suggest the process be as follows.

--You must have the following: (1) Chief's Hat; (2) Curiass of the Savior's Hide; (3) Skeleton key
--Kill werebears until you get a 0.01% drop (some kind of sacrificial dagger)
--Drag a werebear's body out to the Altar of thrond
--Place the skeleton key on topof the altar, which creates an eclipse
--While wearing the Chef's hat and Savior's Hide, power attack the werebear corpse with the sacrificial dagger 999 times. After each time, you must fight and kill a werebear that will be summoned.
--After killing all the werebears, the altar opens, revealing a stairwell
--collect the blood from each corpse.
--Head down the stairwell and enter a room with a big basin in the middle
--Pour the werebear blood into the basin
--Drink it
YOU ARE NOW A WEREBEAR!!!! RAWR

I don't see what's so damn hard.

-Add a quest that let's you become
-Add a cure quest
-Add a perk tree

....And woolah, you got a playable werebear.

When did they ever tell you you'd get wearbears.

Why did you assume you would.

I totally assumed they'd give me umbra and they didn't! They're trolling me!

See how silly that sounds?

They're advlts. advlts who are reasonably mature and have a multimillion dollar company. They don't "Troll"
That's totally different. That's like them putting umbra on a shrine or in a rock and not letting you have it. Why would they put Werebears in and not let us play as them??

Ah, the rage of consumer in the face of creative expression.
It's like they can't do anything for themselves amongst developers.
So selfish.

Whenever someone posts an angry thread like this on werebears, spears or dragon riding it makes me think of the "Francis has a tantrum and throws xbox out window" Youtube video.
Woah, hold your dragons, I was not complaining when I started the thread, I was merely saying that it was a little cruel to INTENTIONALLY throw a tease in to the game for a joke, which it obviously was. Had I known that it was a joke, then I wouldn'nth have spent so long looking for a way to turn into them or at least get a more in depth story of how they came to be, whether it was witches or divine intervention. Had I got a warning that it was a joke, I would have laughed too. In all honesty, I couldn't care less about werebears, even less about spears (I don't know why people want those, they're just pointy sticks), like many who play Beth games, I like to have things, if someone has things in the game that I don't, I want to go and get it. That's one of the top reasons people play games like these, and get addicted, it looks cool they want it and will spend time to go and find it.

In addition, this thread is closure for all the people who keep asking where to go to get the werebears ability, if anything, the title will stop all the werebears threads. Unless you like posting the same things about the same threads over and over, then power to yahoo

I don't understand bethesda's motive. They should have just left them out completely if you couldn't become one. I didn't want to become a wearbear at all, but I do feel really bad for team werebear. This is just plain F'd up.

Maybe the next dlc you can become a fully navigable flying spear wielding werebear or something.

It's cool that they are in. But why didn't they go the extra 10 yards with them? It would have been a more intelligent decision if they tried to make the most out of the potential new feature. I wouldn't be surprised if in some future update or DLC, they made a quest revolving around Werebears that involved potentially becoming one. Perhaps an invasion? Or a splinter group hiding somewhere in Skyrim? I could see an extension to the Companion questline revolving around dealing with Werebear attacks.

Creativity is the key here.

Who would do such a thing, I mean it's a great Dlc and all, but the hours I spent looking to find a way to transform so my character could match my Nordic carved helmet was kind of svckish. It makes you wonder, why would they troll like that, when someone trolls, they do it with the intent of getting people angry, but why would Beth want to make us angry, what did we do
It was never, ever confirmed that you could transform into werebears, only that there are werebears in the game/

They shouldn't have done that werebear joke. Man, I was totally looking forward to finding out how to become one when I saw the people friggin turn into werebears in front of me. Why would they make it non-available to the pc? Now the spears are a good joke.. They're horrible weapons anyway.

I'm actually more disappointed about the staff-making.
You know what would be messed up if beth added in spellmaking and spell combination but only the npc's could use it i would't be on these forums for a while lol.
Now that would be cruel and I guarantee everyone in this thread would throw their Xboxes out the window.

You need a movie like Underworld featuring wearbears before it's going to convince Bethesda to put it in the games. The biggest question is who would be their adversary and what for.
