First off I never said the Fallout 3 and Oblivion stories are great, I said they were better. Mediocre is better then bad.
You not liking the New Vegas story doesn't mean it's bad.
An example being Yes Man telling me Benny was helped to reprogram Yes Man by some woman from a fort in Freeside . Cool, I should go inquire about Yes Man in Freeside. NOTHING! It's not like Yes Man is an irrelevant part of the Main Questline (like the Khans and Kings). And to me that kind of crap is a dead end, I have an interest in learning about the bot I am trusting with helping me run Vegas.
You do find out who reprogrammed Yes-Man. Look more. Your complaint is inaccurate, and thus dismissed. Keep looking.
How about some information about his motives. Should I assume at this time Yes Man is not Houses property? How about a quest to help me reprogram him again so he not so friendly and informative to strangers, he is Yes Man after all.
He finds code to make himself more assertive at the end of the game. Since you're the only one who can actually get into the Lucky 38 without being mobbed by securitrons, it isn't exactly a pressing issue prior to that.
I killed all the Fiend leaders and have not seen a Fiend since level 22, but still at level 30, I keep getting dialouge about how bad the Fiend problem is. Um they are all dead and are no longer a problem, I have not seen 1 in 20 gameplay hours. But the dead end feeling persists.
It's mentioned in the epilogue, so it does have an effect. The effect isn't immediate because the fiends are a largely decentralized group of drugged out crazies.
I help Jacobstown, (oh yeah I like Marcus, one of the few along with The King) chase the mercs (60 seconds) cured the nightkin (8 minutes), the end. Guess I don't have to go back to Jacobstown to see Marcus ever again. The End.
It's a minor location, I don't really see what you're complaining about. It has more content than any location other than Rivet City or Megaton in Fallout 3.
And many are mentioning the endgame slides of meaninglessness.
Meaninglessness? Those are the ways your choices affected the world. It's a whole hell of a lot more than you get in Fallout 3.
I can take out all factions by myself, but I need to get the King's approval or talk the Khans out of not fighting with Caesar or get the Boomers to toss bombs at the dam when needed. In the end, you can line up every faction on the Dam and I would go through them all, so I need them Why? Just to say I helped the Whoever's faction.
Because you're the protagonist and have plot armor. This is true of literally every shooter or RPG, and thus isn't an argument.
As for some other issues, does anyone like the fact that all the map markers are rest stops and 90 seconds of exploration? Even Hidden Valley is only 2 small map areas, and vault 22 is 5 very small levels.
As opposed to power stations, diners, and big empty buildings full of raiders and super mutants?
Does anyone have an issue with the lame schematics? No dart gun, no railway rifle WOO-WOO, no deathclaw gaunlet, no nuka grenade (BOO) and since it takes 5 cherrybombs for a bottlecap mine, none of those either. I don't need the same weapons, but can you give me something new, geez.
And I really am not liking the guns and weapons, way too many 1 shot at a time rifles (Brush Gun, Trail Carbine, Service Rifle, Marksman Carbine, This Machine, All American) And if you like enegry weps, good luck. And if you like automatic rifles (not SMG's, I said rifles) like me, you don't have anything for you to use. The assault carrbine is a pee shooter, and if I wanted a 15 lb. light MG I would just grab a Minigun. I like me some controled bursts with an automatic rifle, tight quarters or in large areas they do the job.
In other words, "If you want a machine gun.. and ignore all the machine guns in the game.. there aren't any machine guns to use!!!"
And can you overpower anymore weapons. Sniper Rifles, Ballistic fists and others are just too powerful. Killing anything without effort.
Gobi is the most powerful weapon, followed by the plasma caster. Though if you're playing on a high difficulty with hardcoe on you'll be in for more of a challenge.
