This Series Is Spiraling Out Of Control. Please Stop Dumbing

How do I hotkey in Skyrim? I did it all the time in Oblivion because it was like favourites without the annoying menu, it was instant. Skyrim doesn't tell me how to do it. There seems to be no "hotkey" option anywhere.
Biggest problem with Skyrim's "hotkeys" is that they require the hotkeyed item to also be in your Favorites menu. The only reason I'd use hotkeys is so I can reduce Favorites menu clutter.

They sold out to the casuals. The realists are long gone. Where's Xanarc The Conqueror? Gpstr? Dragonborn1? They've all disappeared.

I didn't suggest otherwise though did I? Try reading my comment instead of talking on the other side of your face to Dragonbone.

Not that it even matters. Skyrim is a better game than Daggerfall. That isn't even disputable.
You said you were waiting for them to say gameplay was more important than graphics so you could facepalm. I also think it's dumb to say an opinion many clearly hold is indisputably untrue when it's about a subjective measurement.

It's done by pressing a number key while having an item selected in the favorites menu.

Your on PC, right? You favorite somthing, pull up fav menu, then hit a numerical 1-8 key to 'hotkey'. On console there's only two, and I'm not sure how you do it. But I probably wouldn't even play Skyrim if I only had two frickin hotkeys. That's a [censored] joke.

Wrong. I spent no more time in the menus in any ES, than I do in Skyrim. Skyrims UI svcks anyway, so I'm not even sure why it was brought up, unless its the whole attributes and level up hyperbole, from the "I don't understand counting" crowd. Ive been gaming since before there were RPGs. Morrowinds UI was a bit archaic, but didnt take a long time to deal with.

 That is probably the most stupid sentence I ever read in this forum. Congratulations!
Skyrim's UI sure is pretty bad and I personally liked Morrowind's much more. Still they are both far away from perfect. And I don't really understand what this has to do with the topic...? Even if it is worse, it still has all the functions the Morrowind UI has, so there was nothing dumped down here. In comparison to the Oblivion UI though, that is a different story. The Oblivion UI was terrible in the beginning, BUT it had some sorting function (the last sentence only to avoid "ololololol, Oblivion's UI was SO BAD olololol"-rants).

I'm on Xbox 360. And yeah the hotkeys are definitely crap. But not so crap as to make this less of a game than Daggerfall. If that's what you were suggesting there, then you're as much a joke as the hotkeys.

Well it's a good thing this is the last TES game to be made for this generation of consoles.

Thanks to the limits placed on the developers by the xbox, trade offs were made. You want dragons then stuff has to go. If you want more dialogue and voices to speak them then something has to go. If you want to be able to craft or have more animations or better looking people something has to go.

These games are restricted to a limited space on a single disc. You can't have cake and eat it too.

Read the OP. Many things gone and gutted. The crappy hotkeys are just a blip on the radar.

This is the best game in the series to date imo. It's certainly not worse than any of the previous ones. And people seem to agree, given that it's already won a GoTY award.

Apparently they have won a number of them. And have broken sales records (on the PC as well).

Less armor pieces, gutted attributes, cut spellmaking, snipped the arena, trashed first person horse riding, cities are getting smaller, questlines are getting shorter, the coding in general is still embarrassing, skills continue to dwindle, and the list sadly goes on...

This series future is very questionable at this rate. It'll be nothing more then an action game if this continues. Skyrim is as shallow a RPG as you can get. Go back to the drawing board Bethesda. Save this once cherished franchise.

On the bright side, we have Health, Magicka, and Stamina to define our characters!

Don't listen to him Bethesda.

And bleh - "The series future is very questionable at this rate". I always thought clairvoyance and psychics were a load of old tosh, didn't realize there were so many crystal ball gazers out there seeing doom and gloom for TES. You guys should probably be better your gifts to better uses, like predicting when disasters will strike.

Maybe it would be easier to say "I don't personally like the direction the game has gone in" instead of the hyperbole, drama and over generalization. But it seems to me forum topics have been getting dumbed down of late. People just want to regurgitate the same old junk and throw out the same old buzz words to feel clever.

How is that stupid? It was a sarcastic, but true, statement in regards to who I was quoting. The quote said "he had been gaming since the Commodore 64". I stated I had been gaming since RPGs weren't RPGs, they were just strategy board games made by Avalon Hill. Next time read and know more about RPGs.

I'm on Xbox 360. And yeah the hotkeys are definitely crap. But not so crap as to make this less of a game than Daggerfall. If that's what you were suggesting there, then you're as much a joke as the hotkeys.
I wasn't suggesting that at all. Not even sure how you would come to that conclusion.

So OP, your other thread on this topic wasn't enough so you had to start another one? That's the good thing about mental diarrhea; always plenty to spread around. Keep ***king that chicken.

He's right you know....Yes Skyrim is fun and truly a masterful game, but I don't like where all this cutting of features is going (especially spellmaking).

I must be the only person who liked Oblivion's AI, and the only thing that annoyed me was a few issues with large menus (usually caused by the fact that text is always so large), selecting quanitities of things and the delay when changing the main tabs (which you get with things like the map in Skyrim as well).

You like the reduction of armour choices, weapon choices, skill choices, questline length etc.? Is it possible to view these things as positive? Also, there's a difference between clairvoyance and anolysis.

Skyrim is no dumber than Oblivion. Oblivion was a little dumber than Morrowind but the trade off was better graphics, bigger cities and horses and stuff. This is essentially the same game as Oblivion - no better, no worse. Just new content and quest lines on a different map.

Superficial stuff like stats and gear don't matter much when you're not trying to 'break' the game. Just hang out in the world and soak it up and the experience differs little from Oblivion.

As a 20 year PC gaming vet I have to laugh at these threads. There was nothing in Morrowind or Daggerfall that was complex, I reached max level in both of those games in under 3 days and reached a point where nothing could hurt me.

Elder Scrolls has never been complex, EVER. If you want a complex game go play Master of Orion II or III and get back to me. Go play EVE. Thats "complexity" at its finest. I play all of those games but never have I felt like the Elder Scrolls series has been complex. Skyrim is an improvement because atleast the combat and character limits (via perks) have made it harder to break the game. In Morrowind, I could break the game without having to leave the starting town, EASY.

This post should be stickied!!! I agree 100%. Have no idea where all these people are dragging their complaints from, but it ain't reality.

Yeah, I did try to quote you, but messed up I guess. But I'm not sure why that guy is quoting me at all. I haven't said anything in regards to the UI making this less, or more of an RPG than anything else.

One thing I've been saying is that TES 6 will mark and important phase in the TES franchise. It's very probable that at this pace Beth will lose touch with the veteran players and will embrace the "new" generation of TES gamers that are happy with the status quo. Whether Beth cares or not will be interesting.

The questlines are way too short. My stats menu lists the Companions finished in 7 quests. You kidding me?
