He didn't criticize or demean modders, which, I'm assuming, is the part of the community you're referring to. He criticized people who call the game unplayable without mods.
I thought the OP meant that people should be asking Bethesda to fix the problems in the game rather than saying "mods will fix it" because a fix by the modders is not a solution for the majority of players who are playing on a console.
I am by no means saying the game is unplayable here, but there are lots of things Bethesda could have easily implemented that were fixed by modders even before the creation kit came out. Here are just a few examples of things that could be included in the Options menu for 360 and PS3 players that were impleted as mods prior to creation kit:
Darker dungeons where uninhabited
torches that stay lit when dropped
sneak difficulty slider
slider that would affect monster spawn level
toggle for compass
toggle for compass icons
toggle for sneak crosshair
Because there is no option for the last three items on the list, I am playing with the entire HUD turned off, so I cannot even see the invisible health/magicka/stamina bars that Beth worked so hard on, Yet, everytime I post requesting that Bethesda implement some of these features, some PC user jumps in and says "Just buy a PC" those things are already fixed by the modders. That is not a good answer.
I agree with the OP to the extent that he is saying that these types of issues should be fixed by Bethesda, rather than always deferring to the modders.
