"Erm salt please"

That really did it for me after a while. :P

It wasn't really funny , I think the first season was better than 2nd though.

Just finished Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's a mind [censored] at the end. It made me think too hard.

As already reccomended watch End of Evangelion, it won't really make more sense than the actual ending, but it's pretty to look at.

My favourite animated film probably, easily in my top 10 overall films.

*quick sort of related edit*

Watched the two avaliable episodes of Hanamaru Kindergarten recently (because Gainax can do no wrong), the second episode had the best http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rFQL5nWTR0 ever, Gainax should scrap what they're currently doing with the show (not that i think its bad) and make Macross with lolis.

Well yes, it depends on the quality of the dubbed acting as much as translation, as subbing leaves you with the original voices and mannerisms which go a long way towards understanding the original character. It's why I watched subbed foreign films and rarely if ever watch dubbed films, which generally embarrass.
Yes.

English voices tend to work fine [only] if the anime were based on Western settings - like Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, maybe Vampire Hunter D and others. Definitely not series like Dragonball or Ranma and just about all of the rest, which only end up being embarrassing at worst or confusing at best.

Err what do you mean by that? :P
Someone asked about some good anime in the romance or comedy genres, and I meant I wasn't sure if most of them been licensed in the US yet, since we're supposed to talk about "official" series only here.

I've been watching a few episodes of Cowboy Bepop, and I like it. I can't believe there's only 26 episodes though! From the few episodes I watched, there doesn't seem to be a main plot. Hmm, I've definitely got to finish watching it one of these days. Why are all of the good anime out there so short? :cryvaultboy:

Because they were planned to have a definitive end of some sort ahead of time? While long-runners usually have no end in sight and just get progressively muddier and sloppier the longer they go?

It was a rhetorical question, hence the crying smiley.

I have a question for you guys... what on earth is this obsession with "school life" that's in so many anime? I've been looking at descriptions of some anime series and if I had a nickel for every one that began with "X was a normal high school student, until..." I would be filthy rich. I mean, I know it's obviously popular, but what's so appealing about it?

No clue I find it amusing. Just because there's school life in it doesn't mean all of them are going to be the same. Then again I haven't watch some school life anime since Azumanga Daioh.

So, I've been borrowing my friends Excel Saga: The Imperfect Collection for a while now. She's about to move away and I went to give it back, but I'm missing one of the DVDs...

Where would I be able to buy individual DVDs of that set? I looked on Amazon, but I'm not sure if they're what I need.

It's brilliant.

While on the subject of Ghost in the Shell http://www.anhymanwsnetwork.com/news/2010-01-31/live-action-ghost-in-the-shell-writer-discusses-film some words about the upcoming live action film for those who haven't read it already.

Kalogridis said the upcoming movie will have "a lot of action ? lots of action."

Made me physically face palm. What is it with these people and wording things in the worst way possble.

I dreaded that this day would come. It will most likely tank in the Box Office like the Cowboy Bebop and Akira movies will.

Anyone? I'd really like to NOT have to give back an incomplete set :(

So Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam is currently free to watch on ANN (untill some time in April), however im yet to see the original series (or anything that happens in the Universal Century before Zeta chronologically). Should i watch these series' first, or go straight onto Zeta?

Either way im still Hoping to get most of the UC stuff finished off anyway before Gundam Unicorn is released.
