Well they certainly seem harder to find than before.

Not true. The ores are added to the chunks before the cave generator is called. It just seems like that because you can't see through the stone.
At least with this map, there is some odd issue with diamond generation. I calculated diamond generation being down from 1.2% in levels 2-18(i think thats where they stopped) to .8% in those levels

I had noticed that at least within the normal optimal mining height that diamonds never appeared in strip mines, or appeared in extremely low quantities, and were found far more often in caves around that level. Level 6 is much better for finding diamonds in strip mining, and they appear at for more normal levels.

I'll do another survey with some smart replacements of caves to see visually about where diamonds are at.

I dug into some of the older Minecraft threads and managed to recover 1 picture of Vivec FQ: http://i.imgur.com/z9CO9.jpg

Doesn't really show off its length.

We can build EVERYTHING to scale now. We can do the entire city of Vivec, and even the floating jail above it.

Wow that's a lot better than what I was expecting. Did you make more than one canton? I suppose if you got bored of it after one, you could lop the top off and call it Molag Mar...

You can't build Baar Dau to scale, since I'm fairly sure the interior is bigger than the exterior.

edit yep, by an order of 4 to 1.

From the looks of it, the base is anywhere between 70 and 100 blocks, squared. Lots of work, even just for a hollowed-out first tier, but quite doable.

If we plan to build it, a logical spot would be past the snow pagoda, at around -3000,500, where there's a large open body of water and a good-sized desert right next door.

We never finished the interior of the FQ. Even with my sugarcane-funded near-infinite sandstone donations.

You don't have to make it out of solid sandstone. The inside could have cobble supports and mud stacking.

This looks like a good spot to me.

There should be a copy of the old City map with Vivec in it about somewhere, surely?

K, watch this. I'll pull up the link to an old copy in a second. I got this like Rebecca freaking Black.

K... I don't got this. There is no way I got this. Gmail deleted that email... crap.

Might have it somewhere on the history of my laptop though.

To my understanding The City map is unusable due to something about it being zipped incorrectly.

How come the bill for the server took a massive hike of over 10 times the original amount?

If interest in the town wanes, I'll probably just downsize it into a fishing village or something for the time being.

I'd actively help, but I'm in the process of building a town on the island I inhabit. But if you guys need any resources, I'll be happy to donate what I can.

That's yearly. Keeps anyone that goes only through the website donating, even if we've reached our goal monthly. Extra donations give us a buffer. No reason to make people who otherwise can and would donate, not, just because they see that we've hit our monthly bill. The OP should be kept up to date with where we are currently at for the month, which is Current Donations - (Months Since Beginning of Year + 1(so 6, as we want to have the money in my paypal by the next month due date) * 75).

This comes out to 351.5 - 450 = -$99

Keep in mind that this number won't include the $16.5 I'm out of from the 6 day stint on the first server back in January(I don't care, just remembered when doing paypal accounting) and the 2.50 from McMyAdmin, which is a control panel(once again, don't care)
I feel bad for not going back sooner and smoothing all the financials out, but this is the correct number as far as Paypal is concerned. There was some fudging up from the Google Payments incident that made it look like we hit a month that I had to refund 2 people after that month, and I don't think I was calculating the current months bill, instead of the next months bill, so we've always been one bill behind(I paid for the first $75 before we started donations). I can post up the spread sheet with all private matters removed, if someone wants it. It may make more sense once you see the math.

So for monetary concern, for my pocketbook to get back to where it was January 1st(excluding aforementioned items):
Donation Status: $0 of $99 due by June 1st

I'll ensure you guys again, I'm not trying to make money off this.

Note to mods: If this is inappropriate, let me know so I can copy paste it to our server forums.

I feel bad for not donating, even though I said I would. Money's been really tight the last few months... I've been fighting with finance to get paid some overtime I'm due though, so depending on how that comes out I may be able to put something in before the month's end.

Thanks for the update, Tank. I don't think anyone here questions your honesty and humility. It's just good to know where we stand.

Nope, just the Foreign Quarter. Not all cantons have the same design, the FQ is one story higher than the others so it's a lot of work to get the others right as well. Besides, one canton is already a huge amount of work to build even if you have the designs. We got pretty far with the interior. The stair connections between all the different floors were all finished, as were the hallways connecting the different doors and the stairs. The plaza room at the top was done as well, but just like in the hallways there weren't any actual rooms yet.

I think I posted some of the dimensions over at Jamie's forum but that's gone now.

I have 2 files on my PC which I suspect may be the FQ plans, they're in a .fg format. Problem is, I don't remember the program we used to plan the building. You recommended it to me Tank, do you remember what it was called?

The only thing I see on Google for that extension is for custom made FaceGen data for Oblivion/Fallout 3/NV.

Nope. Build a RedPower-based bucket refiller to supply the water.
