Vampire Lord and Werebear.

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 4:53 am

If anyone saw the video on this http://skyrimforums.org/threads/bethesda-reveals-some-secrets-about-whats-up-next.6630/ then they would have seen a werebear and a vampire lord. While that video was just showing off some stuff they added for fun, i would like to see a werebear and a vampire lord transformation ability implemented into the game as currently the vampires svck (no pun intended) and the werewolves barely have any quests and have no armour rating thanks to a patch screwing it up,

Vampires definitely need an upgrade in this game as not only are they using a recycled and hated feeding method but they barely have any bonuses. The weakness are fine but its the lack of decent bonuses that make vampires useless.
Vampires are supposed to have super strength and speed, and while there are no attributes anymore, they still could have used a vampires enhanced strength and speed by using it as bonuses to sprinting and one/two-handed weapons and brawling.

The Vampire lord looks great but those wings are tiny, it would be great see it added in a DLC with or without wings and with better bonuses.

The Werebear doesn't look to bad and its addition could add a new quest line for werewolves as there could be a rivalry between them.

Personally I do not like the vampire lord, it seems so strange comparred to how vampires are in lore. As for the werebear I won't complain if added.

Vampire lord was cool, I'm not all knowing with lore, but I think it would be a cool addition

The "Vampire Lord" they did was based off of Marcus Corvinus in "Underworld: Evolution". http://images.wikia.com/underworld/images/b/b1/295ekh0.jpg
I highly doubt they'd actually be allowed to implement that specific transformation since it'd be stepping on copyrights.

That is why i think it would be best to remove the wings but other than that it looks great. A lot vampires in fiction have a demonic form and for once skyrim's vampires should be like this.

I like the vampire lord, not necessary the Underworld Evolution style, but I like the concept they were going for.

skyrim's vampires should look like the 30 days of night vampires imo, but the volknhier (spelling) are paranoid ice dwellers who have the ability to freeze people with a single breath (like the ice form shout for vampires?) so i do not much mind the looks at all (as long as it does not blend in with human society or have wings, wings are dumb when forced onto something) if we get the awsome powers, clan (all volknhier would be considered a single clan i think, anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong) and abilities

If immortal blood is true(which in skyrim is strongly implied) then the volkys are dead...

i will never believe that, just because it is a cop-out to not do work on vampires

Would have you prefered if they did not add them and offered no explanation?

The Volkihar still exist in Skyrim. You generally start to encounter them in the high 40s. Volkihar Master Vampires are actually the highest level NPCs in the game.

Vampires always have some sort of 'Flying Form' in many things, not just Underworld.

Van Helsing was another one. RuneScape also has Vyrewatches (Which are Flying Vampires basicly)

So Bethesda's Vampire Lord idea wouldn't be copyright but it isn't new. As for Lore Wise, they could fit it in the Lore. Maybe it is something that Molag Bal want to begin doing?

As for Werebear. I would love them to be added but I do NOT want to be one.

Anything they did to the vampires would be a improvement. They are seriously lame.
Come on, they don't even feed by attacking or after entrancing or killing? What kind of lame vampires are they!
I wish they would put vampire lords in.

Werebears would be awesome. :)

Indeed, in fact there was a vampire feeding kill animation in the video.

What vampires need is: bonuses to one/two handed weapons, brawling, sprinting, jumping and an improved vampire drain.
as for potential weaknesses to counter these: weakened when on holy ground and vampire hunters who possess blessed/holy silver weapons.
More powers could be added such as a vampire version of become ethereal since the volkihar are supposed to be able to phase through solid ice and a vampiric frost breath that freezes enemies solid and drains their health.
Feeding to get stronger would be good as well, the whole starvation power thing is only for "the order" and was quite disliked by many.
The Vampire lord is definitely a power that would be liked a lot if added into the game, it looks brilliant.

Vampire quests would be good as well, Daggerfall vampirism was great, you would get letters from vampires or vampire hunters which would trigger quests or events, vampires had great stats and could levitate as well.

The Werebear could be used as a rival to werewolves and such a battle between the two would be great, the player could become one of the two strains of lycanthropy and have unique quests that will eventually lead up to to a confrontation between the two packs. (perhaps to prove who hircine favours more etc)

Werewolves could do with an upgrade as well, that perk tree was a good idea but they should add forced transformation once every in-game month which can only be avoided with the ring of hircine.

While all this being added is doubtful, it is something that we would like to hope could be implemented in a future dlc as lets face it, the vampires svck. they got the worst traits from both oblivion and morrowind WITHOUT the increased skills. Werewolves were decent but some say they are useless at higher levels and now because their armour rating is 0 because of a patch screw-up, they are right.

Actually... Taking another look in Vampirism in Morrowind.. They might've had this Vampire Lord idea for awhile.

There is an unused spell in the CS of Morrowind called "Vampire Fly". My thoughts they were thinking about giving this to Vampire Players as a Special Vampire Spell (Like Vampire's Touch) but it was never added to the scripts.

~Edit~

Also, Daggerfall's Vampires gain their own Levitation Spell as well. Like said above.

I hope BGS release a werebear/Lycanthropy perk tree pack as DLC so those of us without PC's for modding can have them.

Werebear would fit in nicely: people (should) like bears in general and lore fans would appreciate bringing more lycanthropes from books.
The vampire lord seemed too much like something from underworld (I think).

I know Daggerfall vampires can levitate, i mentioned that. shame it wasn't added into oblivion or skyrim.
The annoying thing about vampirism in Morrowind that it was a quest breaker as no one would talk to you except the mages and the telvanni.

You and me both.

As Todd mentioned in his DICE talk, it's possible some of the content you saw will become available in some fashion. We're definitely working on some cool stuff and we can't wait to share it.

Well I just hope you guys make it so people, like myself, who don't have Xbox Live, or other forms of internet, can still get it.

I made a mod for Morrowind where people will still speak to you and accept you IF you are the Nerevarine but they still how problems with you being a Vampire.

As for Levitation, it isn't in Oblivion and Skyrim mainly because of the towns that aren't "open cities" And Levitation allow the player to easily pass many traps/puzzles.

~Edit~

I do love Levitation but it limits my ideas for many traps/puzzles I have for my Dungeons so I can agree with Beth removing it.
