Walking Dead series, continued

On one hand I think it was an okay season ender, but on the other hand, I don't enjoy

Spoiler
spending 5-6 weeks of tiddlying about just to say 'LOL SHE WAS A ZOMBIE THE.WHOLE.TIME! WHAT A TWEEST!'

Hey at least they didn't save her and give hugs and kisses to everyone. Never would like to happen in real life but something horrible happened and we might see some action.

The show has been slow but its starting to pick up.

I rather liked this episode.

Wow, good episode.

I was a bit lost about the ending. Without watching talking dead, wouldnt have came to the right conclusion.

How many episodes left, please don't tell me that was the last one. I want more.

I liked that conclusion, but I think it would have had the same effect on the audience and the characters if it had happened a few episodes ago. But I'm just glad that particular plot point is done with now.

Sometimes I think Shane's got the right idea concerning survival and whatnot, but he does go over the top quite a bit - but some of those melodramatics while in the middle of a much more pressing zombie apocalypse would probably send me over the edge too. :P Was very annoyed at him for ranting on about how all the zombies have to be put down, they aren't people etc.
Spoiler
only to freeze up when confronted with one of his own group.
Hershel's face during that whole scene made it for me though. The man looked totally broken, and it was the first time I found myself sympathising with his situation, even if I don't agree with his methods.

Not quite sure how being lowered into a well with a fat zombie has any relation to Portal though. Left 4 Dead would probably have been a better reference.

So I think there might have been less zombie killing in this half-season than the first season, I know it isn't supposed.to be about that, but still.

Also am I the only one who thinks that Shane is the "smartest"in in the group.
Spoiler
Like Dale said, Shane was meant for a zombie infested world. He knows how to survive better than the others, he just goes about doing it in a very cruel way.

It's not an issue of intelligence, it's an issue of brutality. Shane is a skilled warrior, but so is Daryl, but Daryl doesnt go borderline feral. Shane even contemplated shooting Rick, and I think he would have done it had Dale not come by. Would I work with Shane? Yes, but I'd NEVER let my guard down with him after that fandango with Ottis. He's the kind of person I wouldnt put it past to become a bloodthirsty and cruel raider.

@Chineapple- I see Shane and Hersel as two polar opposites of the same exremist stick. Hershel makes the mistake the Zombie Survival Guide warns about (That book is Zombpocalypse bible, I am not kidding >_>) IE believing that somewhere inside of the zombies is a human that can remember, he doesnt realize those things arent people, just parasitic viruses in the husk of a body. Shane's right on that part in the end, people don't just shrug off bullets to vitals like that. As for Shane, he's not pragmatic he's outright brutal and ruthless, I believe that it's reasonable to defend yourself when confronted by zombies and what have you, but he had no right just breaking Hershel like that and is completely in the wrong in his methods just like Hershel.

@- Colonel Mature - what I mean is, the others seem to be trying to uphold society as if everything will be better where Shane is ready for thea worst. He isn't afraid to do what may be wrong in order for others to survive. Where those like rick try to do what would be right in society today, such as trying to save Murrel in season 1.

Thing is, Shane is a survivor with only survival on his mind. The others have survival and stability on their minds. If the world took Shanes mentality, it'd be dog eat dog between the humans, there must be an equal maintenance of social standards to rebuild on. Any society that derives its power on the logic Shane holds is likely a brutal and stagnant in progress group. Do I understand his logic? Yes. Would I ever agree with it? No. He has the right want to survive, but the wrong methods IMO.

I don't dislike Shane, he has the right mind set imo. It is a dog eat dog world.

Spoiler
Having the barn full of walkers was just a mistake waiting to happen. Sooner or later the walkers would break out. Sure, I feel bad for Hershel but it was the right thing to kill the walkers in the end.

Holy [censored], that episode was extremely good, well worth the slow paced ones leading up to it.
Spoiler
I wasn't expecting Sophia to be in the barn.

This last episode was probably the most emotionally charged one of all. I really loved how it ended.
Spoiler
Pretty depressing too; my throat went dry when Sophia came out of the barn and Rick was getting ready for the kill. Just kept thinking about how he promised her that she'd be safe, and ultimately he's the one that put her down...

On a brighter note, Portal reference FTW!

I called it at the end of the las episode. My wife and I were talking and I got both Shane's freak out and the whole barn thing.

Fantastic [censored] episode. The best so far IMO

Wow that was an intense episode. I hadn't seen so much yelling in a show until this episode aired.

Now the long wait until February when this, and Mad Men comes back.

Just as soon as I was about to stop watching this show because I was getting tired of how stupid it was getting, this episode comes along and rekindles my fire for it. Love it again! Too bad it won't resume until February though.

I was watching the Talking Dead and there are a couple things I'm wondering about. First, Daryl isn't even a character in the comic? Second...Mid season finale spoiler.

Sophia doesn't die in the comics? Whaaa

Yip,
Spoiler

Daryls not in the comics but he might be appearing in the newest ones, or atleast some new char is.
Thats right, she lives on.
I've been reading about the comics and a lot is different from them. One of the newish ones is rather brutally detailed and may not appear on tv if the series ever makes it as far down the line as that.

Thanks. That's weird, I'd figure they'd follow the comics to a tee. I suppose it's a more interesting for the comic readers this way, and us illiterates don't know the difference. The story is basically the same, though, correct?

Spoiler

Somewhat in terms of places and whats going on, yeah.
Some characters like Tyreese, his daughter and boyfriend should have joined the group before the farm, maybe they'll appear in Feb though, and Lori knew she was pregnant just after Amy died in season 1.
Billy and Ben have also been dropped from the TV series, young twin brothers. One kills the other at some point and Carl shoots him in the head while he sleeps because of it. For this reason I can see why they may have been dropped.
In the comic it is Tyreese who is with Rick and Carl, when Carl is shot by Otis, and not Shane.

Oh wow. Carl seems to be a badass in the comics.
Spoiler
Can you think of a similar reason Sophia may have been dropped? Also, you mean Tyreese's daughter and his daughter's boyfriend, right? The way you wrote that...:P
