Weapons, Mods and Ammo Mega-Thread #5

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 4:07 pm

In one of the first previews it was said that extended magazines would make for longer reload times. I don't know anything about the scopes, but there will probably be slight drawbacks with some of the mods.

I seem to recall something like that too. But wasn't sure.

nope..well naturally adding scope means you can′t use iron sights, and thus can have issues aiming at short range. But besides that, nope only positive.

Shame. Not a biggie, but shame. Would've been interesting if some of the mods had something to counter the benefits to make the choice of a mod to be more, well... tactical (not best choice of word, but best that comes to mind).

Well, I tried guys, but he didn't take the bait. Need to use a better lure next time.

Don't blame yourself, the other guys ruined it for you. If we all just started talking about the 12.7mm SMG then Sawyer would be forced to correct us if we are wrong, and if he responded without correcting it would be as good as a confirmation.
We need to conspire about this sort of stuff over PM before we try it.

well that′s what the 3 mod limit has for a purpose. Tho so far we haven′t heard about guns having more then 3 mods.

I think it was confirmed that guns can not have more than 3 mods (and that mods are not removable, I don't vouch for this though). What I meant, though, was more independent and modspecific tacticesque counters for the benefits.

We might as well start calling it that, since that is what it obviously is.

Confirmed auto-pistol rounds: 9mm, 10mm, 12.7mm.
Confirmed SMGs:9mm, 10mm, Cowpatty cybersillyname SMG.

Yeah. Right. It's the 12.7mm SMG and the .50MG is the round with no 2nd weapon. Simple as that. I'm calling it that from this point forward, and I bet 1000000000000000 caps I'm right. We'll get the confirmation soon enough. If Josh corrects us, I'm wrong. If he types nothing, then I'm right.

well sadly that is the side effect of making a game for the general public, limiting the amount of mods seam like a easier thing to sell to people then having to think of the ups and downs of every mod.

There are cool guns in the trailer.

EDIT: Also the cocking of the hammer at the end has the proper C-O-L-T four clicks.

True.

I won't start crying about it though, no matter how sad it is. :P

But the least they could do is give us more than 3 mods, at least 5 or so, so we at least have to make choices about which 3 we want, right?

I reckon that this is what we'll find. Since engineering tends to be a zero-sum game. Add something, it most often negatively effects something else. Examples:

Heavy barrel - higher weight
Extended mag - higher weight, longer reload times
Scope - obscures iron sights (most times)
Custom action - faster degradation

meh I wouldn′t say cool, looks standard western guns to me, to me cool would be a double barrel, double cylinder, unique looking revolver.

but then again I′m a steampunk nerd, so I expect wacky takes on 19th century stuff :3

well that′s the thing that still in the dark, so far we haven′t had the definitive word if the 3 mods thing is how many mods each gun has, or if it′s the max amount of mods a gun can have out of X mods.

Ach! Every time someone mentions Steam Punk I want to play an alternate history World War I game where the internal combustion engine was never invented and steam powered robots are used to break trench warfare and stomp across no man's land. Stop that, you're killing me. Now I want to be an air pirate flying my steam powered gyrocpoter off of my steam powered airship to raid cargo blimps.

These are basically what I was looking for, nice little effects (longer reloading times, faster degradation - maybe even accuracy lowering effect on some damagebooster) to tell me that it's not all peaches it installed. We'll see it in about 3 weeks.

I've heard conflicting sources on that. Even in the same article, I read both that mods have no negative effects AND that the extended mag mods increase reload time. So who knows.

Colt 2nd Model Dragoon. It was beautiful. I stopped the trailer and just looked at it for about 2 minutes.

Heavy barrel - higher weight

It should increase accuracy and reduce degradation of the firearm at the cost of the weapon being heavier. :tops:
