No worries mate. This is the gun nut thread. We like to show the new folks the ropes. Help them assimilate, you know? We're currently trying to get Josh E(lvis) Sawyer, the man making so many of us happy for NV's new weapons, to deny the obvious existence of the 12.7mm SMG.

Or the existence of a man portable M2 Browning Machine Gun... Now that would make my year. :tops:

I've heard conflicting sources on that. Even in the same article, I read both that mods have no negative effects AND that the extended mag mods increase reload time. So who knows.

Same here. I read article, it was bad beyond belief if I remember correctly.

I'm just hoping for all this.

Why would he deny something that so obviously exists????

Ach! Every time someone mentions Steam Punk I want to play an alternate history World War I game where the internal combustion engine was never invented and steam powered robots are used to break trench warfare and stomp across no man's land. Stop that, you're killing me. Now I want to be an air pirate flying my steam powered gyrocpoter off of my steam powered airship to raid cargo blimps.
Well I'm guessing you'll like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioShock_Infinite game.

You know, I find my self saying that every time I read a piece of vidya game "journalism" these days. Sad, really.

I'm ambivalent about it. On one hand, I dig the steampunk aesthetic. On the other hand, it seems like it's an odd transition from the underwater setting. I'd have to get used to it.

It is. There are few rare exceptions though. And as odd as it may sound, I prefer them rare because when ever they pop out, they feel refreshing.

I feel the same way pretty much, although I'm not gonna think of it as Bioshock because that just makes me think "Rapture".

Man, we've pretty much discussed everything we can discuss about guns without knowing the full list, and that'll probably have to wait till we have this beautiful game in our hot little hands. three more weeks... until that time...

*sings along* "Yippy yaaaaaaay there'll be no weddin' bells for today... i've got spurs.. that jingle jangle jingle... as I go ridin' merrily along... and they sing ... oh ain't 'ya glad you're single... and that song ain't so very far from wrong..."

hey, btw, do we know all the holdout (casino-safe) weapons? I know the razor, but what are the other ones? (I heard there were something like 3 different weapons?)

I'd guess that one of them will be a Silenced .22 Pistol. At the highest level of sneak you can sneak an SMG in, so probably the 9mm Grease Gun as well.

Weapons I think would be concealable...(a few weapons just for fun)
Switchblade, Icepick, razor, pen, Brass knuckles, http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/03_01/MiniGunHandLL_468x348.jpg, http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_TahXQ2WiF0s/SV8TaHAqg7I/AAAAAAAAKP8/QbO4yAvtZfk/s400/Threats+in+disguise+-+Hidden+weapons+01.jpg, http://www.notempire.com/images/uploads/SHOTShow2008_MagPulGlockSubgun_Semi-Open_2_2-04-08.jpg (probably useless in a wasteland), http://img.youtube.com/vi/YOXMkeFZo20/0.jpg I mean come on it's perfectly hidden, nobody would suspect a thing

I'm gonna sneak a Grenade Machine Gun in.

If you think about it, sneaking in equates to what can fit in your pants. That is, unless they go with the whole sneak skill=weapon thing.

Maybe sawing-off a shotgun is possible so we could sneak it in?

You know, none of these pistols are particularly small. Even the Ruger .22 isn't exactly a real small pistol, especially with a surpressor. Now that we know for sure .38 special ammo is in the game, I'm starting to think that a Saturday Night Special might be one of the holdouts. Didn't someone say a pistol was one of the offered holdout weapons? You don't get much more concealable than a snub-nose .38, right? It doesn't exactly fit the Saturday Night Special definition, but it's the smallest round that ain't a .22 (already got one .22 pistol) that we know is in the game. Or maybe the .32 will come back with a snub-nose. I'm laying better than 50% chance of this. The ammo's already there, right? Call it 60%.

PS, I was about to say I haven't been wrong yet, then I rememberd saying there'd only be 2 AR-15 series rifles also.

Well I sort of doubt the .38, because AFAIK .38 in this game is just an ammo subtype of .357, meaning that any gun that shoots .38 would have to shoot .357 as well. Obviously, this becomes a problem with a little .38 SNS that was never meant to fire .357- unless there's a way to limit a gun to one subtype.

Now, as for the .32, .32 might return, but unless .32 is the oddball, then that would mean something else firing .32. A .32 SMG? Seems unlikely.
Still, if there was say, a portable M2, then .32 might just bee that oddball.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BB.

Thanks. It's from the awesome (IMO) trailer for the new True Grit movie.
