NV Weapons

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:20 pm

A Thompson-Center Contender with a short barrel, chambered in something obscene like 45-70 gov't with plus P ammo. Would make a beastly hand cannon and the reloads would look amazing.

Commercial .45-70 Gov't usually has a pretty light load (I guess to avoid blowing up olde tyme Trapdoor Springfields) but handloads can be pretty nuts. Of course, there's a decent amount of powder to burn to propel that big lump of metal, so it usually needs a longer barrel.

I would like to see all the old FO weapons make a return. I want to see "proper" Gauss rifles and a return of the Pulse weapons.

See my list up there? *wink wink* *nudge nudge* *punch stomp*

Kidding, but I'm glad to see a fellow gun nut working on one of my favorite series. I have to ask you, regarding the weapons in the Fallout universe, do you prefer seeing real world weapons (M107s, Desert Eagles, P90s etc.) in Fallout or older WW2 era guns that fit the timeline split? And do you feel like seeing modern guns in the wastes breaks the immersion? I'm just curious because I've been having this debate with many people on many forums and since you actually work on the game it would be interesting to hear your point of view

All or most of the weapons from Fallout Tactics would be cool.

You mean http://www.tcarms.com/firearms/images/silos/2702.jpg

It would be an awesome addition, looks right out of Fallout too.

I agree with the 1911, M60, Fal and quite a few others by the way. I'd also like to see a Browning Hi Power and the BDA .380.

I agree with the 1911, by the way. And the return of the hi power.

As much as I dig p90s, I have to admit I dislike the presence of real world weapons that were made before the 50s, and in some cases the 60s. I can't deny I like the M4 making an appearance, but I think it should look more like a Vietnam era M16 with the triangular foregrip.

What's wrong with them? The culture is based on the 50s, the weapons aren't. The US Army and every army needs each weapon for a reason and just because teh culture is 50s based doesn't mean by time it's 1960 we are going to have Laser Pistols and stuff. Modern weapons we have right now are around for a reason or because in tests they proved better than the other prototypes. I don't see why having modern weapons in the game is bad. Just my opinion, but I'd like modern and post-50s weapons in the game. Either that or someone could mod them into the game, which would be quite a bit of work but the modders can do it.

The XM8 was canceled but that doesn't mean it can't be in the game. Maybe it can be hidden at an armory or something along with a bunch of other good weapons that aren't common in the game.

I want something similar to the Fallout 2 weapon system - AKA a [censored]load of guns, with lots being more or less equal. None of this "Assault Rifle" then upgrading to "Chinese Assault Rifle". Although I did like the unique weapon idea, so having maybe 5 or 6 different guns of each type instead of 2 with maybe two tiers of quality and each with a unique difficult to find super version, that would be the best.

Also, try and make the guns look cooler slung over your back. Some just looked lame.

Inefficient? Yes, but the fireball would be glorious.

I know way less about guns then you guys....but that rifle pistol thing would be awesome. Reminds me of the .223 which i would love to have back.

I'd of course just like to have as many guns as possible, but for any guns that are appropriate i'd like to have different skinned versions. So you might have a "been in a locker since the bomb dropped" nice and shiny version and a been in use since the bombs dropped ragged and dirty one and finally you might have an engraved or otherwise decorated unique version.

Damn i cant wait.

I loved the Small Guns from Fallout 2. I was just looking up pictures of them to remember if it was .223 or not and damn. I love that Combat Shotgun, D Eagle, H&K G11E, P90c, and the Scoped Hunting Rifle/DKS-501 Sniper. I'd be overjoyed to see any of those again.

Oddly enough, you can get one chambered in .223 as well.

I want weapons that don't feel bland and show a lack of imagination. I don't care whatever those will be because I like to be surprised.

E: And I'd like to have more unique weapons like the gun ripped from Bladerunner in Fallout 1... not just another Chinese Assault Rifle with different stats and name.
It would be also nice if guns would be overa.l more rare in NV and hard to get (like in the beginning of The Pitt).

How about these
The German MG42 instead of the Minigun
Colt .45 instead of the 10mm
Franchi SPAS-12 instead of the Combat shotgun

Maybe it would be amusing to toss in afew hard-to-find gimmick weapons.
Like a poison tipped umbrella (as a melee weapon)
or a water pistol that shoots acid

something non conventional that is hard to find and has limited ammo

If they're all useless yes, in any other case no, games like Fallout need variety. When variety isn't guaranteed the next best thing is numbers to choose from.

Fallout 1 got variety too, without adding 100 weapons.

There are over 100 weapons in Fallout 3, but you're right. I'm not proposing we add a thousand weapons, I'm just saying we should have a very big pool to choose from so everyone can have weapons that fit their playstyles and characters.

Yeah, and guess what. I don't really like any of them, because in my opinion, they don't fit to Fallout.

And especially because the sound is [censored]. Shooting stuff with a assault rifle isn't fun, but annoying due to the strange flop-sound it is doing all the time. Same goes for pistols and other rifles in the game.

Well I liked the laser weapons (although Wattz's guns had more style), the hunting rifle and Lincoln's rifle but yeah those assault rifles were not really fun to use.

Can we all agree that the gun sounds should become better?

I agree, there are only 3 weapons that I truly like in the game. New Vegas needs to have better weapon sounds and more guns of each type so that if one isn't fun to shoot with or doesn't sound right, you can try a different one. Do you see what I'm saying about variety though?
