It's actually the grenade machine gun. Sorry for the mixup.

But the part about being able to modify and upgrade weapons was still true, right?

(Please say yes. xD)

I'm pretty sure one of the magazine articles talks about that, yes. Though I'm not certain.

Yes, PS3M. I just want to make sure it wasn't a mixup as well.

Question.

Dual purpose firing modes.. for say under barrel modifications :hubbahubba:
it would either fire a grenade launcher or turn a tactical light on, or whatever you guys want :)

Is there any public news whether it's getting implemented, no comment, or just plain no.

please, not the last one..

I was just thinking secondary firing mode actually, the gl was an example. Another example one would be to take a revolver and pistol whip someone with it.
Or buttstroke with a rifle..

And doing so causes the weapon to degrade faster?

Hello Mr. Sawyer,

First a bit of credentialing for me. I am a firearms collector (of sorts) and have in my personal collection items ranging from flintlocks up to modern weapons. I have been shooting since I was 5 years old (I am 35 now). I am also an active gamer console/video, historical table top wargaming, and Pen and Paper RPGs.

I have seen lots of annoying weapons proposed by people on message boards (I am truly sick of Desert Eagles and P90s). They have figured into pop culture to the point of jumping the shark. IMI paid to have Desert Eagles in as many B movies as possible... and for one in each of Pam Andersons' hands in Barb Wire. The P90 is also over done in nearly every game of the last 5 years someone has thrown it in.

I have been collecting photos and info on guns made by people in the USA mostly in home workshops etc. These are all legal and stay within legal requirements. (I am not a machinist so I have never attempted such a feat myself).

Since Fallout takes place after an Apocalypse, it would only stand to reason that people would be building their own weapons in small shops and in some quantity. Look at what the Afghans and Pakistanis have managed in the tribal areas. The smiths there can build copies of nearly any firearm they get their hands on and they can modify them. They work by hand without blueprints or even being literate for the most part.

In the USA, over the last 15 years there have been hundreds of thousands (or possibly millions depending on who you ask) of "parts kits" coming into the USA. They are not considered guns because they do not have a receiver. People in the USA can either buy receivers from a commercial source or make their own. People have been getting better and better at this. People are making AK-47, AR-15, M1911 and other complicated receivers from scratch. Tons of submachinegun types (google "Tube gun") are being made as semi autos from receivers bought as simple pipe or metal tubes and they are not counted as guns. Some of the people making these types are creating their own hybrids or mostly new types using components from other guns. An example: trigger groups from AR-15, AK-47, Shotguns, and czech VZ-58s are very popular since they are a known factor and their axis pin geometry is simple to transplant from one firearm to the next.

Also, I want to point out that the USA is awash in guns. Nobody knows how many and "authorities" dont have a good record. They only keep records of "Complete guns" imported or receivers imported or receivers made in the usa by licensed manufacturers. Figures of 300 million are bouncing about but nobody truly knows. Guns dont wear out all that much (unlike a 72 pinto). You don't have to look too hard to find a 400 year old gun that is still capable of killing someone.

Another angle maybe looking through old gun magazines from the 1950s would be helpful. Before the Gun Control Act of 1968, any gun (except for machineguns and other NFA weapons) could be sold by mail order. There was no system like we have today with Federal Firearms Licenses. If kennedy was not killed in the Fallout time line, then there might have been a completely different pattern of firearm ownership.

The GCA of 1968 also restricted machineguns that were made over seas. That means that all newer machineguns that civilians were able to buy between 1968 and 1986 had to be made in the usa. For foreign types, they had to be chopped up and then have new receivers made in the usa or semi autos had to be imported and then converted by a gunsmith (with proper licensing) or by some individuals. This killed the importation market for foreign machineguns (though there were a lot of weapons brought back from vietnam and amnesty registered in 1986 (or hidden away).
Just a thought.

I've looked at all of the weapons that have been in all of the Fallout games and it would be amazing if they included all of them they would obviously need to alter them slightly because a few of the weapons look kinda dumb aos if they could do that and then add some more weapons it would make the game so much better.

Just jumping into this. It would take quite a while to read through what others have said so im just gonna throw in my hopes here. Sorry if i might've asked for something someone (or many people) has already mentioned.

Assault Rifle model: didnt like the FAL looking American rifle from Fo3 at all. LIKE the M4 model. But AK47 again plz??

SMG: Tommy. (im pretty sure THATS been requested) Grease gun from FO2 :D???

Hunting rifle: Springfield

Sniper: The .223 rifle from FO1and 2. And I dont wanna come right out and say the M82 (.50 cal), I like the PSG-1 as a semi auto sniper option........... And maybe the M82 as well

Shotgun: NOT a PPSh-41. That didnt make any sense. Double barrel like from Point Lookout, only make it an over-under. Pump action for the other model. PANCOR Jackhammer

Handguns: Ahh... my favorite. I liked the 9mm pistol i saw in the PS3 magazine, but id also like to see a M1911, a Ruger, a special forces looking futro- looking handgun, and some revolvers. I loved Paulsons revolver, it was the only good thing to come out of Mothership Zeta IMO. A good ole .44 and maybe a bigger S&W 500 looking one too.

Energy weapons: Gauss Rifle, laser rifles/pistols plasma rifle/pistols dont really care, some new Tesla weapons! Maybe a handgun or a small, compact rifle.

These are some guns that actually exist that I would like to see make it into the game.

Pistols.

1. USP.45
2. M9
3. 44. Magnum
4. Desert Eagle
5. M1911

SMG's

1. MP5K
2. VECTOR
3. Mini-Uzi
4. UMP .45
5. AK-47u
6. MP5
7. Skorpion

Assault Rifles

1. M4A1
2. SCAR-H
3. FAMAS
4. FAL
5. M16A4
6. ACR
7. AK-47
8. M14 EBR
9. G3
10. M14

Sniper Rifles

1. Intervention M-200
2. Barrett .50cal
3. WA2000
4. M21 EBR
5. SVD Dragunov
6. M40A3
7. Barrett M82A3/1
8. R700

Light machine guns

1. SA80 L86 LSW
2. RPD
3. HK MG4
4. M240
5. M60E4
6. RPD

Machine Pistols

1. PP2000
2. G18
3. M93 Raffica
4. TMP

Shotguns

1. SPAS-12
2. AA12
3. Striker
4. Winchester 1887
5. M1014
6. Winchester 1200

And with these guns would come all of the necessary attachments to go with them that means scopes, sights, silencers, lasers, bayonets ECT.

Of course these weapons will undergo a little wasteland makeover to have them not stick out as much as they already do. Also you've probably figured out by now that all of these are from COD (yes i went there) but i don't think that really matters because these guns would make the game much more fun and give the characters a lot more options for weapons and ways to kill.

I dont absolutely need these guns in there it would just be nice to see a few of them in the game

This isn't call of duty, it isn't going to be callo of duty, it is a great game, but they don't fit together...

I got over the MW2 hype about 2 months after its release. I really dont like it now and i only play it if its what all my other friends are doing. Minus the M4,AK, magnum and possibly the .50 cal get all that outta here. I'd really rather NONE of Call of Duty find its way into New Vegas

Wow I thought I was a crusader for modern weapons... yeah that's just wayyy too much man. I love high tech guns too, but like I've said time and time again, we need a variety. The perfect group in my mind is a mix of WW2 era, Vietnam era, and modern day guns, with each type of weapon, SMG, Handgun, Shotgun etc. getting it's own 'type'. Throw in craftables like zipguns, energy weapons and some Fallout classics and that's all you need really.
