What are your main worries for Brink?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:06 pm

i hope they have more grenade variety than the ones you see on most games. alsoi hope they have the same number of grenades no matter what the type unlike on a game that will remain unamed *cough*MW2*cough* where you could only have one smoke even though smokes are awsome.your vision clears up after like 3 seconds with flash and some one can still shoot you and see clearly with stun.

Previous SD games have had a fair variety of grenades, and I think the devs have said Soldier will get "area denial" grenades, e.g. tear gas.

Operatives in previous SD games have been able to use smoke grenades, and the fun thing is that smokes aren't in limited supply--they just take charge (in Brink, "ability pips"), which refills over time.

edit: to clarify, Covert Ops in previous SD games have actually had both regular grenades (of which you can only carry a couple) and smoke grenades (which are in unlimited supply but require energy to throw).

Not really a concern, but there might be campers with the ability to move around the world easier than most FPS games. I hope not. Campers are the reason, why I stopped playing COD MW 2, not to mention certain perks enhanced peoples ability to camp.

That is my only concern.

If people are not playing as a team. Just set up a clan with a group of people. That way you have an established group going to enchance (sp) the fun u have with this game.

there is no promises to eliminate camping but there wont be nearly as many campers as in mw2

Yeah thre will probably be only legit camping, you know where a team bunkers down to defend an objective.

My main worry is that the story will be too short. Though im guessing becasue the story is the bulk of the game, its gonna have like 10-20 levels, otherwise i'll be playing the same two maps over and over...

...and over

yeah more granades are a good idea!

i also hope that u have a real chance as a quick player as in the cinematic trailer, throwing molotovs, jumping over rockets, maybe stun enemies knock em down and run away!

also i hope that a big slow charakter isn′t going down after one single shot from a sniper rifle or a shotgun.

but after i saw the cinematic trailer about 100times i really think and hope you have a great idea of a game and it will be awesome anyways :)

In before H0RSE clarifies that a sniper rifle buffed by an engineer can one-shot an unbuffed light character.

All the more reason to never ever be unbuffed as a light.

I get the gut feeling most medics are probably going to buff the heavies first, though. Heavies will be in the line of fire more often, so that's valuable, but the buff will have a bigger proportional effect on lights, if it's a flat 1-pip buff. When I'm a medic, I'll probably be buffing either whomever seems to be doing well, or whomever is on my friends list, regardless of build.

Another worry of mine is that if im playing (or anyone else) may find the operative specified boring, and then this teamate, would not help and not perform their role, it sorta stems from the 12 year old anger debate going on. Where a person (of any age) might just want to jump around killing enemies (which is useful) but not actually doing any objectives, which would not help the team forward.

Not to start a PC vs console debate, but I have found that the majority of non-team players I encounter, (players just trying to get kills, camping, etc.) are mostly on console. I think that Brink on console and Brink on PC are going to be 2 very different experiences, just in gameplay, not any extra features.

All the more reason in my mind to rush the health buff base first when playing a light operative. That should start getting people appreciative.

Prolly true but the beautiful about this game is the killing is not the best way to get EXP. Doing objectives and helping your teammates is.

i wonder if this game will have us playing the same objectives over and over again. like if you keep playing on the same map will the objectives change every time or will it be exactly the same?

The main objectives (repair crane, demolish gate, etc.) will be the same, but the game will serve you different side objectives (hack turret, revive ally, interrogate enemy) each time, because those objectives are generated by other players.

yeah i guess. it will still most likely become a little repetitive after a while

lol, how can people complain about the maps and objectives becoming repetitive, yet they want game modes like DM and CTF, which are extremely repetitive...

Not really reptaR :)

In past SD games, each objective could be approached in a number of ways, due to their class system. With the inclusion of bodytypes, abilities and items - this takes this even further.

I used to play RTCW all day everyday. The same concept existed for that game - class based objective gameplay. I never got bored of it, and is my favorite MP game ever. Getting bored of a game has more to do with the player than the game.

well i do get bored easily :sadvaultboy: . the main thing i was worrying about was that after a while people would know where all the main objectives are and when they be available so they just camp around that area for most of the time

Are you saying that once people learn how to play the game, you will lose interest?
To me thats the point where things start to get interesting.

The game is going to have choke points - parts where an objective needs to be completed before the map progresses (blow a gate, hack a terminal, etc) so you can expect players to set up defenses and guard the [censored] out of it.

That's what makes it interesting. You will likely need to flush the enemies out or keep them hunkered down with surpression fire.
