What factions are you most allied with? (Part 2)

Post » Sat Jun 18, 2011 9:26 am

Please note that you could be working with Yes Man, but your true allegience is with the Kings, for example.

The last poll results, NCR won with the Brotherhood of Steel at a very close second - 23 to 20 votes.

The Followers came in third, followed very closely by Mr. House - 15 to 14 votes

Legion came in 5th place, followed by Nobody, and then followed by Remnants of the Enclave.

I'll just import my comments here..

Considering that the NCR was one of the main factions, the BoS won as far Im concerned. The poll result would've been different if the roles were reversed I think. You could only choose not to whipe out the BoS if you're with the NCR or Yes Man. The other factions require you to kill them all.

I think there should be a House+BoS path you can take. It makes more sense really than the NCR+BoS path, since House and BoS have much more in common in terms of their goals.

I don't think that that's really fair... or right. I think that a lot of people just don't like seeing the Brotherhood being greyer, yeah you could argue the practical security reasons of the slave-collar and such (I completely agree) but a lot of people just take things at face value and make stubborn judgements far too early.

Huh? I don't support their agenda, but I've always liked them as a faction. As opposed to the Legion which is just too cardboard cutout for me.

Yeah, Enclave even the Unity are just tales of genuine good intentions monstorous strings attached; the Legion though are just a societal model, not a bring potentially world saving organisation, and a poor one at that in this users opinion.

There just evil at its best. The enclave even had good intentions but they were extreme to meet them.

Legion dont know what there doing and should just get along out of there.

The BoS strongly opposed Mr House. After you kill House, BoS members welcome it as a positive development. Probobly because of all that tech he has and that he's in a position to use it.

Looks like Mr House is out of the picture. One less thing for us to deal with.

Brotherhood and Mr House similarities:

*Have no interest in conquest
*Believe in technology as the best way to solve humanities problems
*Both are interested in research
*Both have no interest in meddling in other people's affairs

With a high enough speech and some clever diplomacy, I could make them work together.

Followers of the Apocalypse are who I support the most of those listed
Of the in-game routes I support Yes Man the most, followed by House with the Legion coming in dead last.

Basically an Independent Mojave with solid, open trade with the NCR is my most preferred route. I usually support the NCR in their fight against the Legion+Fiends and keeping the Mojave free of those jerks.

That may be true to some extent but then why would many of them support an even greyer faction like the NCR instead then? It is interesting. According to the Vault, the BoS leadership's Karma is listed as "Good" (even Hardin) and the NCR leadership's Karma is listed as "Neutral." Even Ambassedor Crocker, the dove, is Neutral.

BoS - Elder McNamara

The traditional Brotherhood believe that military technology is the best, not Aut-Docs or anything so mundane; they also don't like it when someone else has technology which they want either.

*Both have no interest in meddling in other people's affairs

Well it's highly likely, from a Sawyer interview and the NV loading quote about the Brotherhood, that they started the war. Sawyer says that the war between the NCR and Brotherhood was largely because the NCR refused to hand-over some technology that the Brotherthood wanted - on it's own of course it doesn't specift who started it but the loading quote in NV reads 'The Brotherhood waged a long and bloody war against the NCR.'

From my understanding, the reason the NCR soldiers don't have any energy weapons is because the Brotherhood targeted caravans carrying them. Although I think the war with the NCR was probably over something bigger than just energy weapons. Perhaps the NCR claimed a stockpile of ICBM's (without launching capabilities) and the Brotherhood reacted to that. I mean, I wouldn't trust the NCR with nuclear capabilities, hell I don't trust them without nuclear capabilities too.

Brotherhood and Mr House similarities:

Aside from using technology, they're aren't many similarities.

Besides, I think Mr. House was forming a sound strategy when he decided to blow the Mojave BOS to kingdom come. The BOS would never have allowed him to use an army of robots to rule from New Vegas, since the Brotherhood would "feel" that they had a right to that tech, and would feel threatend by House's clear tech advantage over them.

They would have likely gone to war with him, and (as he says) while its a war he can certainly win, why waste the effort on them?

Man I love House.

Clearly, it was a rational move for him to take because that was indeed the BoS's line of thinking and he knew it. In fact, if you side with Yes Man and upgrade the Securitrons to militarize New Vegas, the BoS are alarmed by it and say they need to send patrols to deal with it.

Just goes to show you that often the Brotherhood's bravado outweighs any rational considerations of a strategy on their part. They are outgunned, outmatched, and outnumbered and they still choose to go to war.

House knew what he was doing.

But in general fallout im turning into a enclave worshiper .

The Legion hate is fairly strong. I'd say it's absolutely ridiculous and none of you can bring your opinion to justification without looking like a fool.
