Stiggs and now the Remnants disagree with you. How in the name of Christ is the Legion's blueprint for a new order sustainable or practical; the majority of it's citizens aren't even human beings.

The NCR is neutral. They not good but they aint the Legion so they ok by me. The Legion sux, literally and they wear dresses but reduce woman to the role of servants. They're just a bunch of savages with a neanderthaul ideology.

Coming along once more to cheer and jeer my Mr. House love.

House is the best for the following reasons:

He won't be tied down with beuracratic bullcrap.
His plan is by far the most well thought out and sound. I mean his plan started 16 years before the bombs.
He's rebuilt the Vegas Strip into a semblence of Pre-War glory.
He's civilized three of the largest tribal families in the region.
His moustache and voice man. What a charming chap.
Why sugar, he's the maximum utmost. Why, if it wasn't for Mr. House, we wouldn't have this fabulous wonderland of New Vegas would we?
If you side with House and talk it out with Oliver, he points out that House has gotten the dam pumping in ways the NCR hadn't been able to do.
He's the only faction that doesn't give you a crappy trinket as a thank you for helping you.
Mr. House being a genious and technologic genius, it isn't unlikely to think with a cooperative treaty with NCR, he could turn McCarran into an airport again.

If anyone says 'But without the Courier he wouldn't win' I'm going to ignore your post because I'm tired of explaining my arguement only to hear 'DERP NUH UH!'

Neutral in what sense? Moral is arbitrary, especially in the context of Fallout. Everything the Legion does has a reason, even the sixism.

Thing is that I can niether see nor understand how the Legion's long-term plan - if indeed one exists - is better than the NCR's; every arguement I have seen for their superiority either a direct play-off of a fault of the NCR, eg, Legion safer roads or is just something incredibly short-term, is the Legion going to stay as it is forever?

As long as Caesar is alive. Yes it will likely not progress. See, despite Caesars claim he wants progress, he doesn't want progress HE doesn't like, IE, NCR or Mr. House. He's no different than dictators who have destroyed books in fear of people finding a new found belief in something.

Edit: It's okay Apex, you can admit you can't find a rational arguement :spotted owl:

I never understood the "safety" argument. A population that lives under tyranny is not safe from their government.

People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both.

Don't worry my man, I'm more than capable I just don't feel like derailing this thread. I guess it actually wouldn't really be derailing though, just don't feel like it right now, not like this thread is going to go away any time soon anyway.

Hell besides, your argument is so bad I really don't even need to post a response to it ;)

Edit sweet I got my wink to work.

All right.

What differentiates Caesar's Legion from the NCR and what makes the superior in my opinion is that they're not building their civilization on the rotten foundations of the old world. Caesar knows that the only way humanity can move forwards is to start from the beginning. He wants to unite the world under 1 banner and create a truly shining empire, although that change has yet to come. Now look at what democracy has brought the NCR? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. They're still dealing with the problems that plagued the old world and I'd even say that they've gone backwards. You don't create a civilization on a rotten carcass.

The world is just not ready for democracy yet, you need a sturdy foundation first. And Caesar's Legion is that foundation. Keep in mind The Legion is still far from their goal but at look at what they've actually accomplished in just 3 decades. Caesar was once a citizen of the NCR after all.

No, just the even more rotten foundations of the much older world, such as the Roman Empire. :grad:

No, the Legion isnt going backwards at all. They are far more progressive than those NCR reactionaries.

He models his civilization after one, he literally doesn't pick up the rubble of the old one and says "Let's glue this back together and give it another go".

Aside from the obvious I wouldn't call the Legion 'stable'; what happens when Caesar dies, given that he saw fit to appoint Lanius as his his fittest successor do you really think that whatever Caesar wants to come from his society will ever happen when the only educated man is dead and is replaced by a series of Legion-born indoctrinated warlords?

I really like the NCR. The whole reconstruction theme of Fallout: New Vegas is really interesting, and ironing out all the wrinkles in the NCR's control over the Mojave is damn satisfying, especially with the reactive NPC's and Reputation system. They also look badass and are the closest thing to the prewar United States out in the waste. The Legion is interesting for roleplaying too, and I must admit any faction that kills House is great because of the epicness of invading his personal chamber.

Would have, should have, could have. Once he achieves his goals he'll obviously find an heir.

This. I don't fall for Caesar's propaganda of stability of all costs in exchange of tyranny for all. Even if the Legion were successful in all its goals (which is only conquest), it will crumble from within like all the other empires of the world.

The reason the Egyptian empire lasted for 3,000+ years is because they didn't try to expand but just protect what they had. They tried one campaign for conquest against the hittittes and it was a draw, after seeing too many of their soldiers die over stupid land in what is today modern Israel and Palestine, they never repeated that mistake.

I'de rather kill every last legion idiot before accepting their failed system.

Yeah but it's not purely expansions for it's own sake is it? The conquest of Vegas will actual bring significant change to the Legion's strucutre. The NCR runs the show in expansion for it's own sake anyway.
