I would be horrified if there was super new music in it. Makes no sense, doesn't fit. Why put new music into it? I love a great variety of music, and probably listen to nearly every genre. Even if I get tired of F3's soundtrack, I still put the same variety on, so that it feels authentic. Blast your iPod or whatever if you want different music. Just don't unnessarily(sp?) pollute Fallout.

It would but Hank Sr`s raspy voice might would become annoying considering the style of singing he does.

On a side note since were in the desert we might as well have country western music.

I know I have some pretty much unknown songs that are country/western in theme but I am pretty sure they are too knew. For instance some of them are from the 70`s but I will post them anyways, they are mostly comedies of other songs or just songs done up ment to be funny.

When you look you can find some very rare or very obscure songs easily, if you are into the older music and know the names of the bands and performers to do searches for the music by band.

I say there needs to be more old time music but more cheerful and something you can really get into when your murdering robots and things of that sort.

From the first trailer, I'm sure that confirms Frank Sinatra being in. It would also be a large slap in the face if Elvis isn't on the soundtrack. Then again, rights for Elvis music probably has a large cost to it.

I'm also picking up Mafia 2 later this month. I guess I'll be hearing a lot of 50s music for quite a while.

finding records in the ruins and selling them to the radio stations to increase the number of songs would be a good quest and source of income
and DLCs could add in more records hidden around the map
and then the music wouldnt be the same throughout the whole game as youd keep extending the playlist

That's what I think.
When I saw this title I was like, "Uhh, the kind of music that was in Fallout 3... plus maybe some more Western stuff to fit the theme of the desert.".

I, personally, don't think it breaks the atmosphere of the game one bit to have Metallica playing Turn The Page while I wander the wastes aimlessly.


What gives the game it's fallout atmosphere is the radioactive junk laying around, the massive amount of rubble, mutated critters, the PipBoy, things like that. You know, the world itself. Having Alice in Chains playing where the Ink Spots used to play does nothing to 'kill' the atmosphere of the game for me.



This could also be utilized as a way to easily allow players to add their own music to the game. The player would put MP3s in a folder before they launch the game. The game would then generate records found throughout the wasteland that you could turn into your favorite DJ. Then, once turned in, that radio station will start to play those songs as well as whatever songs it already played. I suppose you can steal the crappy records you don't like if you wanted. It's not at all hard to code, Audiosurf can generate an entire map based on a song in about 30 seconds, I'm sure Gamebryo can randomly pull a location from a table, spawn a record there and reset a quest script. The engine already does the first two things every time it fills containers and inventories on cell load anyways.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone figured out how to do it through FOSE and tweaked Fallout 3 to behave that way, it's got to be much simpler than some of the crazy scripting that has been done for it.

If people want to download Metallica and crap like that from websites for mods, let them. But the factory shipped game, I just want Songbook America styled music, It suits the atmosphere and I prefer it to 90% of the music I hear in todays world. I'd REALLY like to hear a little Django Riendhardt, but I think Gypsy Jazz may be a little out of place in what New Vegas seems to be going for xD, so maybe a little Kay Kyser or Benny Goodman would be great.

City of Evil will be playing on my 360 for most of the game.

Well, a mod is all great and dandy. But it does nothing to change an opinion. You have to realize, a consistent theme is hugely important. Mess with the formula, and you'll have a bunch of angry people beaming hatemail to devs. Do I think a couple newer songs could fit the game? Yes. Would they fit the theme and stay consistent with the idyllic 50's nature?Not at all. I like new music, like anyone else. But, you can't wreck the charm and style of a game just because someone wants to hear "nu moosicz". Believe me, there will be a mod. Enjoy it. And if your on a console, listen to your iPod or something. Not difficult. Just don't pollute the vanilla game needlessly.
