I say screw it all, the devs needs to set it up where theres a "music" folder and all we have to do is just simply drag and drop our favorite music to the folder and it will play on the radio stations. I do that all the time with Silent Hunter IV, I have music set up by era then by year within that era and I just open the folder and drag the music to the game folder.

They do that in Burnout: Paradise city too.
I didnt even think of that.
Great idea though, i would be eve more in love with that game if they did that.

Half the charm is in the old school music...more Billie holiday please.Maybe some 60's rock also, but no further...Eminem would spoil the atmosphere.

One of the great things about Fallout 3 was bringing to light music most gamers would never listen to.

This is too modern, also checked the original by Tears For Fears and it's much better.

Roy Orbison is fine, I also like his song Shahdaroba (heard on Mad Men season 3 finale and Skeeter Davis is from previous episode btw).

I think there should be a lot more atmospheric, darkwave, post-apocalypse type of music, like Industrial or something.

I also think Pat Benatar should have one song somewhere on the soundtrack.

That folder already exists. All you have to do is turn off your radio and you can play whatever you want.

The game is amazing walking out in the wastes while playing "Khans Of The New California" and "City Of Lost Angels"

(Best is that Mark Morgan has uploaded studio quality versions of these for free ~better than what shipped with Fallout 1)

I want them to make a direct way to add music to the game for consoles so I don't have to see people asking for Eminem in the official soundtrack. It's not because I don't like him, but it would be horrible for the game. And I agree with Fallout FTW, the non-radio music should be changed in tone, not that it was bad quality in FO3.

Heck.... imagine if Obsidian wrangled Mark Morgans recent studio tracks for the ambient background tunes.

(Some can be found here http://www.markmorganmusic.com ~ a few are from Fallout 1)

Correct, only thing though is that would be ambient background music in game. It wouldnt be played through a radio station like for example GNR with all the "news" updates. That is what I would like to see is a folder that had music put in it and it would pick from that folder for the radio station. It would really stop alot of the people from complaining about the music gets old playing the same 6 different songs over and over, or that they dont like the songs. If it was done, I would leave the songs that the devs desided on but add my own that I think would fit, such as the song "Eve of Destruction". I think that song will fit great in the game if you listen to the lyrics, only thing is its more of a early - mid 60`s song than a 50`s song.

Why not just turn on some music on your radio, cd player, ipod, computer or something, turn off the music in the game and voila! You can listen to whatever kind of music you want.
No need for them to include a bunch of modern music in the game or special folders for it either.
I listened to Blur, Bloc Party, M83 and Queen while playing Left 4 Dead yesterday.
Works perfectly fine.
