What weapons should be in New Vegas?

Why do so many people want the Desert Eagle?

Simple answer? Because it's sixy and chunkier than Beyonce's backside.

Technical answer? Because it's sixy and I feel like the role of the heavy pistol was left empty in Fallout 3. The .44 just didn't do it for me. The scope wasn't very useful and it didn't pack as much of a punch as it should've.

Why do so many people want the Desert Eagle?

mostly because of it?s iconic nature, it has been almost the key sidearm of action movie heroes and villains alike threwout the 80s and even the 90s, plus it has a distinct design thanks to it?s use of rifle mechanics

tho in my mind if it makes a appearances it needs a bit of a overhaul in it looks and a cover name (Maybe Desert Striker or Desert Phoenix or something like that)

RPD? It came into use it '53.

EDIT: People want the Desert Eagle because it is awesome. And it was in 2 COD's.

In real life, the Desert Eagle is a overweight (4lb) handgun, that's pretty much useless... Oh well, it's just a game... Reality need not apply.

EDIT: I like the RPD idea!

Yeah lol it's a pretty crap gun in real life. But it should be in FO:NV, it should have also been in FO3, as it was in previous games.

MG42... the German machine gun? MP40 as well, if so. And the M1A1 Carbine.

I'd also like to see a proper Sawn-off Bouble-Barrel Shotgun. Not that Pistol thing in FO3.

I'd like a non-sawed off double barreled shotgun, I find it hard to believe that every single shotgun which isn't a combat shotgun in post apocalyptic Washington D.C. has been sawed off. I'd also like a combat shotgun that looks like... well, a shotgun, as opposed to a sub-machinegun, in other words, I want a combat shotgun that isn't the design seen in Fallout 3.

Okay, well then just answer this question for me because it's been bugging me for a while now. Why does the split in the timeline have to apply to weaponry? Aside from the introduction of energy and plasma weapons, things probably still would've happened the same. Different guns are designed because soldiers need to get different things done. We adopted the M107 because we needed to take out people behind cover and the M249 because we needed a lighter machine gun than the M60. Now why don't the people in the Fallout universe have those same needs and ideas? Nobody ever says why, it just has to be different because it has to be?

Of course, the same need would just lead to people designing guns with a similar function, they won't necessarily look exactly the same and even have the same name. In other words, if the designers are really worried about that, they can design their own fictional weapons to fill the functions of real world weapons.

Personally, though, I don't really care if Bethesda includes real world weapons that came around after the split, it doesn't do much to break any supposed "immersion" as long as I don't find them too often. And just because historical events played out differently doesn't mean none of the real guns designed after the

Though, I hope Obsidian keeps a good balance between real world and fictional weapons, while a few real world weapons in the game helps to remind the player that the setting is still Earth, albeit an alternate history futuristic version, the fact remains that if everywhere I find weapons that exist in real life, I start to feel like I'm playing Call of Duty or something rather than a science-fiction game, besides, they have everything between the split and the war to work with, it would be such a waste of creative freedom to not take this oportunity to design a few weapons of their own.

I think a crashed ufo with an alien blaster would be nice. An easter egg of an easter egg.

So in other words, you mean something that's been in pretty much all the Fallout games (At least the alien blaster part, I'm not sure if all games had the UFO or not.)

What I'd like to see is more types of energy weapons, though, the variety present in Fallout 3 was rather dissappointing, and made increasing the energy weapons skill feel unrewarding compared to the small guns skill, which covers a much greater variety of weapons, and no, I don't mean the Gauss rifle, I don't mind that being in the game, but it should not be an energy weapon, I mean real energy weapons, things that shoot lasers or plasma or other non-solid things, not something that shoots solid projectiles mysteriously labeled as an energy weapon. I'd at the very least like energy equivalents for things like shotguns, automatic weapons and sniper rifles. The Protectron's Gaze sort of filled the first niche, but there should be something non-unique, and I'm thinking something plasma based, realistically, though this is often ignored by science-fiction writers, plasma based weapons, if they were ever made possible, probably wouldn't have much range anywy so I figure they'd be suitable for shotguns, for the second one, all we need is an energy weapon that's fully automatic (though personally, something I'd really like to see is a laser that fires a continuous beam as long as you hold down the trigger. or until you reload.) And the last one is pretty simple, all you'd really need to do is have a long ranged laser rifle mounted with a scope. I hope to see some somewhat more creative ideas for energy weapons, though, something that wouldn't just be like normal guns except with different effects.

I'd also like to see a few more sniper weapons, it was kind of unfortunate that there was only one type of sniper rifle in Fallout 3, and the only other scoped weapon was a magnum (which sadly did not even come in a non-scoped variety.)

Also, while this is getting away from the subject, I also want to see weapons get proper names, not just "assault rifle" or "Chinese assault rifle", but real names, I don't care if they're the names of real weapons or made up as long as they make sense for the weapon, just "combat shotgun" or "10mm pistol" are boring, and proper names become necessary if you want to have many different varieties of weapons in the same category, there's only so many ways you can add another word before "assault rifle" before you run out of options that don't involve just going ahead and giving it a name.

Oh well, it's just a game... Reality need not apply.

Very true, in video games, realism takes a backseat to the rule of fun, in otherwords, if it's fun, it fits, whether it's realistic or not, and Desert Eagles have constantly proven to be fun in games.

PB-SAW I like the name. Then the lesser variant would be LB-SAW Laer based. And Maybe Top tier would be TB-SAW Telsa Based or ATB-SAW Alien Technology Based.

A weapon that fires a really slow pulsing orb. The orb explodes on contact. Would be a really rare gun.

I'm just gonna add this because I saw someone say it, but, Full Metal Jacket isn't a type of gun its a type of ammunition, and Full Metal Jacket is just a bullet that isn't hollowpoint. Like in MW2 they have FMJ as a gun thing, but hollowpoints are illegal to use in war so the Army uses FMJ anyway. So it confuses me its a perk...

I honestly didn't like it that much. It never really fit with my playstyle/roleplaying but when I did use it it kinda felt more like something you'd go after Mole Rats with than a boomstick.

I'd love to see the City Killer back. A modded M1911 has been confirmed by a picture in the PSM3 story though. No more weak/stupid pistols finally...

a cool gun could use radiation to fill some kind of meter and then shoot radioactive stuff at enemies

it could be pretty powerful but filling it makes the player soak up rads

But would also be completely useless against any mutant.
