What's with the weird foreign accents

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 9:10 pm

I swear some of the nords sound dutch which is weird, they should have more icelandish accents but I like that they're not british or american sounding...if a nord said to me ello guvna i would stop playing.

Also I know shrek is famous but why do all the khajit sound like puss in boots wannabe's?

Because there aren't exactly a lot of talking cats to go by.

I'm surprised that they actually hired more accurate voice actors for the Nords this go around. The problem in the past was that they were all done by American/British sounding doofs. Now though, some have stronger accents than others, and some sound more Icelandic, others Germanic... but still, all of those are more accurate than times past.

I love how all of you are trying to pin down their accents to a real world counterpart even though the accents are from A FAKE WORLD

You mean Cheryl Cole? She most certainly isn't a Scouser! I'm not a fan, but she's from my neck of the woods, Newcastle, on the other side of the country. Completely different accent.

Edit: for what it's worth, yay to me for missing the actual point of your post, which I find myself in strong agreement with.

Opps. sorry mate didn't mean to steal your talent and give to the wrong county lol
She doesn't look like a coal shoveler to me a (or is it Newcastle in Oz thats the coal country? I may have it wrong again)

But you got the point, people need to learn to accept other for who they are and how they sound

I actually really prefer the accents to Oblivion's non exotic american accents. Makes it way more immersive for me.

If I were going for a change in the speech of the NPCs, I wouldn't mind the accents at all as long as they didn't have every one of a type done by one voice. Mix it up, get a half a dozen or more voices for the city guards instead of the same one every time. And let the different voices each have a distinct list of comments and insults. I mean, really, how many times have you heard the same voice ask if someone stole your sweet roll?

Actually American accents are really European accents, and Asian accents, and middleeast accents and ect, ect. considering what most people accredit as American accent only applies to about 7% of the population. Also depending on where in the country you go they sound compleatly different than any other part. People from Georgia sound different than folks from South Carrolina, and they share a common boarder. Just like Countries do..

Don't bother explaining, it's the cool thing to dislike everything American, including our accents apparently.

OP I couldn't disagree more. I personally like the variety in the game, but it's a fictional world. The developers can make the accents however they see fit
