I'd assume that they have a Scandinavian/Germanic sounding accent because that's what ethnic group the Nords are based on. Some are over exaggerated though, like all those Arnold Schwarzenegger guards.

No they shouldn't sound "American" or "British".

They sound like Nords. Nords are foreign yes?

I like the ones that Jim Cummings is obviously voicing and sound sort of like Tigger!

Simple answer: no

answer with reasoning: They shouldn't all sound "american" or "british", the Nords have an accent because they are supposed to, they are based off Nordic countries in the real world, which have accents.

Sean Connery is its own accent. Be it a Spaniard, Scott, or Russian.

"What a fantastic accent.. what is that?"
"Sean Connery" "And I'd Shlap her again too"

I'm not really sure what it is, but the dunmer accent bothers me. They kind of sound like white South Africans.

The problem is that right now i feel the accents are all over the place. some of them sound exotic, and does fit the nature of the game, but some are kind of distracting.

I did see a youtube vid for the Japanese version and I'd have to say it sounded pretty awesome. They could have been reading a recipe for deep fried tofu hotdogs for all I know but I love the way they speak for some reason.

I don't see what is wrong with the accents. They fit in with the game very well. I'm happy with the accents.

The asians love TES! I remember the chinese, the korean, and the japanese all made killer graphic mods, like anime total conversions, etc. Would be interesting to see what comes out next year, hopefully.

Let's examine... as pointed out, the Nords are based on real-earth Norse/Germanic cultures. This being the case, you should expect to hear these types of "accents": Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, German, and yes, even Austrian. Not to mention, Russian, Scots, and other surrounding nationalities affected by the 'Viking' cultures.

Is this an 'accent' or 'affectation'?

That depends, If you were born and raised in New Jersey, yes. In, London, Morraco, Peking, Paris, New Zealand, or Botswanna? Yes. If your from Any region named in the first section here, these are not accents, they are the way you normally speak.

If you can't come to grips with this, you do not have the imagination required to get the full impact of the game you are playing.

Their voice actors just seemed to put more ferocity behind it. I was expecting the emperor to fly in with long swords and go Musashi on everyone. I wonder if it's even possible to get the voice files put into my copy at some point.
