What is your LEAST favorite race?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:58 pm

I won't agree they're all ugly, but I agree that they made a mistake making their facial bone structure so excessive. No human would ever get naked with somebody with a forehead like that.
I like the fact they look otherwordly, it emphasises that they're a different race.

Yeah, but they're supposed to be a genetically compatible race that humans have willingly mated with quite frequently down the millennia. Who's gonna date a chick with a Neanderthal brow except a blind man?

Elves are ugly. I think the design team need to work on that one.
*snip*

Agree. For me, Elves have always been this mystical beautiful creature in fantasy settings, and TES has reduced them to some butt-ugly piece of scum living in the sewers. Sad, really, since I used to love Elves, and would've played one in Skyrim if they're weren't so pathetic. =(

Genetically compatible isn't the same as sixually attractive. Khajitt are genetically compatible with Elves as well according to the lore.

And there are theories that early humans did cross breed with Neanderthals, so there you go.

In Morrowind the Dunmer were pretty much the same, the graphics just didn't emphasise it as much.
TES doesn't have to conform to regular fantasy settings and it is good that they don't, if only they had called them Dunmer, Bosmer etc. from the start. Then people wouldn't be complaining they can't be Galadriel or Thranduil.

I'm not saying they have to conform to anything, I'm saying they're ugly boring sewer people and I have no interest in playing "mer" races. They've been reduced to another bandit you kill on the road, or a beggar in the street. Bummer.

It's a toss between wood elves and orcs. Since Morrowind I think, orcs in TES have been just awkward green people. Orcs are supposed to be savage feral beasts with absolutely no semblance of mercy or morals. Wood elves are like down syndrome kids. I don't like playing with a short character either. And males even shorter than females, really? Sometimes I think they are modeled after Todd.

nords, they are the TES equivalent of brutish rednecks. barbaric and simple, they need to be ruled by someone with their head firmly on their shoulders who is not weighed down by notions that put you at a disadvantage. The most psychopathic, underhanded nations are the ones that flourish. (see China, the USA and what was once the British Empire)

I'm not saying they're too violent, I'm saying their form of violence is unsophisticated and self defeating.

Constructive violence is what brings a nation wealth and power.

What you hate about them, is what I like. I hate the "standard" fantasy elves. They are always perfect, will almost no flaws. What fun is a race, that is completely perfect?....

TES elves, are actually flawed, and aren't seen as superior to everyone else. Well High elves are, and that's why I like them the least.

Probably Imperials, thanks in part to their utter dominance over tamriel in previous TES games. Humans are also boring to play for me, with the exception of maybe the Redguard, I don't think I have ever played one in any TES game.

I played an altmer since Morrowind, mainly because their racial traits made them extremely difficult to play, especially in Morrowind, and difficult still in Oblivion. I'm glad they have been improved in Skyrim, and the fact that their Dominion is reposnible for the Imperial's demise is just an added bonus.

I'm not suprised they are so stuck up and self-absorbed, living on the only Island nation in Tamriel, they are easily the most secluded. Not to mention they founded the common language of the empire. Their magical prowess is unmatched as well, that would go straight to anyone's head.

I'd have to go with Nords. There are far too many of them in Skyrim.

That's the role of the Khajiit in The Elder Scrolls. They are the smartest, most cunning, and most beautiful people in Tamriel.

Orcs are technically Elves.
I know this, so what? They are animalistic in their facial features. I don't like to play an animal. As I said, the orcs are about as far as I can stretch in this regard. Can't play an avatar that has a tail.

Can I please have a source for this?

And there are theories that early humans did cross breed with Neanderthals, so there you go.

There is now evidence that most people of Asian or European descent have a significant proportion of Neanderthal genes.

Wood elves are like down syndrome kids.
...How so? Because they're short? o_O;

And now for my own thoughts.

I don't think I have a least favorite race per se, but I gotta say that Argonians were wayyyy too shiny in Skyrim. Like they were covered in oil or something. Their faces and everything else from the neck up were pretty badass-looking but their bodies just look like twisted sticks. Also the elves' faces were really ugly in Skyrim.

Also I have seen a lot of people say that they hate Bosmer, but I have yet to hear a decent explanation as to why. Is it just because they had annoying voices in Morrowind? Because they totally did, but I don't see why they are deserving of such undying hatred just for that.

I don't have a favorite race either but I tend to be partial to Dunmer. I freakin' loved Morrowind.

P.S. Please stop saying Thalmor are a race. It just makes the people who played any game before Skyrim laugh at you.

I wonder how people can hate a race. I understand dislike or hate towards the NPCs of said race, but hate? I might dislike the general type of personalities memers of a race has, like the arrogant Altmer, but I don't hate the Altmer as a race just bevause of it.

Some people would, i would prefer an Orsimer, Bosmer or Dunmer instead of a human. And I'm not blind.

That Bosmer chick in the loading screen (the one with the bow) is really beautiful. My next playthrough will be a similar Bosmer.

Easy question, far easier than "What's your favourite."

Bretons. Followed closely by Imperials.

Not to mention that the amount of smug, arrogant Altmers is lesser than the amount of normal, sophisticated Altmer. A great deal of Altmer from all walks of life are just normal. Niranye, "Horses All Day Long" girl, Faralda, the Thalmor dude in Markath, the Windhelm stables worker, Calcelmo, Legate Fassendil, the list goes on and on.

The race to finish what I'm doing before my game bugs out and I have to reload to a previous save.
