What is your LEAST favorite race?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 4:13 pm

Argonians and Khajit. Argonians look stupid (Jurassic Park animatronic things wearing armor). Khajit look and act like furries. They just don't seem to fit in with everything else way too much on the fantasy side. Yes the Khajit have been around for a long time and the Argonians have for a moderate one - but they are pretty stupid looking and not very threatening.

They have both been in the game since Arena (The first one)

Wow, the Argonian envy in this thread is impressive (but not surprising). Since you're too insecure to play the master race :bunny: , you will doubtless be unaware that whereas Parthurnaax refers to men and mer as mortals, he refers to Argonians as Argonians. ("Greet me, not as [mortal|Argonian], but as Dovah.")

My vote: Khajiit, followed by Nords.

Also: Argonians have been Argonians since Arena; the so-called Khajiit in Arena were men with silly tatoos.

elves save for orcs and bosmer... I even hate the dwemer they are so self important and insist upon themselves.

How can you hate someone if you don't even know enough dwemer people to be able to judge how they act?

I was pretty much neutral up until Morrowind. Then I started to hate Imperials. I kinda started to be annoyed by Altmers in Skyrim, but I always considered them annoying even before so yeah...

Not asked, but favorites are probably dunmers, sentimental reasons and too much time spent among the ashlanders.

All the Elvin races in this game are botched. The back-stories for them are uninspired. The cultural clutter the game puts around them to make them seem interesting is uninteresting. Each Elvin race is one note and much of it is not memorable or understandable to new players. A new player coming and will not care what the different elves are like because none of it is presented very well or very clearly. They could be cool, if they were re-worked. However, they would have to be totally torn down and built up from scratch so that they make sense and in a cohesive world with a cohesive history is richer.

Typical post from someone who came to TES at the time of Oblivion/Skyrim, dunmers have the richest lore so far, by far richer than any other race. I agree, however, that Skyrim lacks in the lore department and I don't blame you (if you are new) or any other new players for not understanding anything about them. Also, it's elven races, not elvin. :P

If the Belethor voice actor NPCs were a race, I'd chose them, and petition a cleansing purge.
He voiced Enclave troops in Fallout 3? How [censored] awesome is that?
So you're pro-enclave, and pro-altmer? I'm sensing a pattern here .
I'm also pro-Galactic Empire (Star Wars), pro-Tevinter Imperium (Dragon Age), pro-a lot of other villains.
Not just villain love though, I align myself with people that have actual goals, and rational explanations for them. I am most certainly not a fan of, say, Nazi Germany (Real Life), Master's Army (Fallout 1), the Reapers (Mass Effect) or Caesar's Legion (New Vegas).

As much as I'd like to take part on Dark Elves vs. Argonian debate, I'm going to go with my game-play tendensies this time and answer: Orsimer. I just can't play a credible Orc. I'm no savage! Who says I should play a stereotypical one though? Maybe I should try, say, an Orc scholar sometime. :) There's one in the College already though. :(

Can't get into Argonians. Too beast like and look wrong wearing clothes, particularly dresses.
Khajit get away with it because I like cats and they have good voices.

They were in a very different form, in Arena the Khajitt were basically Kender and the Argonians were like Grey Alien type lizard monsters.

Before Skyrim: Dunmer. Now it's Altmer. They're arrogant and intolerant snobs.

Also, we Argonians look great.

This. Oh and I love your avatar by the way, that argonian looks awesome.

Pretty awesome tbh, if he'd not used his vocal cords as a meat grinders in Skyrim (or whatever that sound is), I may have liked him better!

Redguards.

Why would anyone dislike redguards? They have some of the best lore, a unique looking province, are awesome warriors, and they're human. Plus they have curved swords. CURVED. SWORDS.

For me, its Argonians. I dont mind them as NPC's and I'd be-friend one. But playing as one... not my style.

I'd like to see the next TES take place in Hammerfell. That province intrigues me.

Unique compared to what? In Daggerfall it was awesome but not what I'd call unique.

By unique I mean that it's not the standard forests and castles fantasy landscape.

With player characters the ones I've never played in any game are Redguard, Khajiit, Bosmer and Orc. My all time favorites have been Imperial, though I've enjoyed my Breton and Argonian characters.

As far as NPCs in Skyrim go I love to hate the Altmer. They are one of the few races who don't just seem generic, both in their attitudes and voices. So many NPCs could have another race's face slapped on and you wouldn't know the difference, but not the Altmer.

Redguards are my least favorite, especially in skyrim...in oblivion they at least resembled black people...now all redguards look like white people with super dark skin...

ive also had a really hard time holding onto Khajiit and argonian characters...i really like the idea of them, but the tails constantly sticking out of the armor always make me just delete it after a few levels...

My least favorite race has to be Bosmer. In all the Elder Scrolls I have never made one. I would've said the same with Khajit and Argonian up until Skyrim, which has now made them my new favorite races. Skyrim has converted me.
