Its getting there; since the bible got brought up again

What the heck does Christianity have to do with TES lore anyway?
Didn't you notice all those threads about Christmas DLC for Skyrim? Don't know about the whole Bible, but they apparently managed to find the New Testament in the College library.

Everyone in TES is Dovahkiinsixual.
Except for Sapphire. Thank Talos for console commands!

You do understand that the Bible was written before midieval times right? There were these little towns talked about in the Old Testament. Sodom and Gamorah? They were destroyed because, well... it's where the word sodomized comes from.

Yea, I recall those fables... in the fiction book called, "The bible"... Bible V4.0, subset 12328, publicateion 34287362, right?

Which bible... there are more bibles than gods... Gods are recycled and used as an excuse for trillions of personal vendetta extremist publications. They change like the seasons, and are nothing like the original followings, in even the oldest sustained beliefs. Though they attempt to understand and follow them, what is actually known, which is what the story-writers were paid/forced to publish, at another mans request, or his own personal "opinions" of what is, "a better way".

Religion is like the "i-things" and "Top 40" of the world... Every society has one, they all believe the other person is wrong, and no-one actually practices what they preach... (With few RARE exceptions.)

It sounds like the Nords have a "live and let live" attitude when it comes to six, going by how the Priesthood of Mara deals with marriage and how the Priestesses of Dibella deal with six.

Nords care only about who you are, not who you do. You can be a total player and bed every handsome dude in town, male or female, but so long as you're honorable, brave, and an overall upstanding citizen, no one's going to bat an eyelash.

This is an attitude shared by the Japanese and Greco-Romans of old. So long as men (noblemen granted, but bear with me) fulfilled their duties as fathers and husbands, they could sleep with whoever they wanted. They could hire consorts, have multiple wives, have more "private" relationships with other men etc. This is probably true for Skyrim's society as a whole (sans the polygamy) regardless of six or position, but far more romantic, intense, and egalitarian.

TL:DR; Nords don't give a damn on what gender you like. Just be a good person.

Gameplay-wise, marriage isn't the prime feature of the game. Relationships in general aren't part of Dovakin's story. Still, I'd like to see some same-six couples, which lorewise do exist as far as I'm concerned, but it's not an aspect that takes center stage. I honestly think that the marriage system was rushed. Either way, at least we have an idea now on how one of Tamriel's race treats an issue that shouldn't be an issue in the first place :turned:

absolutley nothing to do with it at all....i give it till page 7 but just barely

Nothing. Unfortunately every time someone brings up an anti-homosixual viewpoint it is unavoidable. I have not yet encountered any kind of 'homosixuality is wrong' argument that didn't include a large religious reasoning behind it. Usually the exclusive argument against it. Which is sad really. I hate for this subject to always turn into a religious argument, when it shouldn't be. It's really about people being forced to follow or accept the viewpoint of another person, and people saying that their view/morality/legality is the only correct one and should be followed.

My self, I think people should do what they want, so long as it's not hurting other people. Regretfully people don't always feel that way, or have very loose definition of what 'hurting other people' means.

I think they just didn't think about it and it wasn't a case of informed disinclusion. While the bisixual activist for LBGT civil rights in me does say that the fact they didn't think about it(if my assumption is true) speaks to certain issues in the gaming industry and society. I don't think as I said that there was malicious intent behind it.

And in the BIble mythology, S and G was destroyed primarily out of their attempt at r a p e.

Gay marriage? Check
Gay couples? Missing

Assuming Bethesda adds gay couples in the next ES game what else can we witch hunt to accuse them of homophobia? Let's really shame Bethesda about this.

Amazing how many people think thier eyes will melt if they walk into a house with one bed and two men.
The same ones that broadcast thier normality saying no one should be forced to see it.
One step away from the double standards of killing many for what they percieve as bringing people harm.

This forum, got to love it, a place where you pay for a product but are ungrateful for making a complaint of the charity you recieved, a place where something isn't a flaw in this game, even a feature but in another game makes it utter trash not worth 30 mins of your time. A place where it's wrong not to except change, especially that you don't need to participate in but a change in society is unbearable and sickening.

Sigh, when are the AD coming to the world to drag off, torture and kill people from thier homes to here.

"I'm not saying I'm right and everyone else is wrong, nor do I want Bethesda to cater to me happening to be of the LGBT community. I'm just trying to point out what I think was a missed opportunity and explaining myself for what I think."

~ Me, before I left to play some more Skyrim.

More than anything, my entire point of making this thread was pointing out a simple flaw from a designing standpoint: You made a game where the setting is stated to be completely open when it comes to marriage (unlike our world, which is a nice escape just like we like dragons being real here), but you only made the player able to be an example of this.

I'm not hurt, I'm not angry, I just think that if I were making Skyrim, I would have done different. If this thread does get taken down, it'll be because of people taking it to an extreme I never intended it to go.

I didn't come in typing in all caps 'BETH = HOMOPHOBE.' I think before I type, and I happen to like to think after I play :]

TL;DR: The topic title is the main subject of discussion, but I encourage you to read everything I had to say.

They give us the option to marry a person of the same six, and even of a completely different race; so as Maiq the Liar says, the people of Skyrim are indeed more open-minded when it comes to that. That's been established as a permanent fact about the culture and values of the region in this fictional world.

So... Where are the gay couples?

I look at this from the most important perspective:
What Bethesda can benefit the most from > What Bethesda originally wanted to do.

Most people like dragons, and we haven't had much in the series yet, so they figured 'let's make the next one's plot center around dragons.' Money.

But remember, this grab for money (assuming it is) is your next installment to your lore. You love your lore, right Bethesda? If it's in the game, it's now apart of your lore. No exceptions.

So okay, now there are dragons, and the NPCs in the game acknowledge that. I'm immersed.

But... I just had a marriage ceremony with someone of the same six, so THAT should be apart of the culture if they allow that so... Why has every married NPC interaction I've seen been between heterosixuals? Bethesda gave us a feature but designed the game world to act as if that feature wasn't canon. It was a market move for people who want that feature, as people wanted dragons, but it doesn't commit to it.

There are other questionable things about the people of Skyrim as well. Every 'marriable' NPC in the game can be married by either six, which means those NPCs are bisixual. Which leads me to believe that the majority of Skyrim culture is bisixual. And yet, I'm seeing husbands and wives arguing about their also-straight daughter. I'm rescuing the wife of a poor fool who thinks she's been captured by bandits. I'm helping a guy find the gems needed to make a wedding ring for his to-be wife.

So apparently, I'm the only REAL bisixual in all of Skyrim, because I'm the only one who can be proof to the supposedly-now-canon 'open-mindedness' of the region.

To be honest, I'm dissapointed. The Fable series (which once tried to compete with the Elder Scrolls) does a better job at committing to their LGBT customers by having actual variety and display of sixual orientation in its fictional setting, and I kind of hoped Skyrim would have tried a little harder in that regard.

You've got a LOT of deviant things in your games already, Bethesda. And despite that (and in some cases because of that), you still sell games like crazy and make game of the year to the point of it being expected of you. I'm one of your biggest fans and I was right there saying 'cool I can marry a dude,' seeing it as a bonus to what's already to love about something you created.

Why be afraid of homosixuality?

...

And now I'm about to blow your mind even further. Let's say that it's true that you truly are the only bisixual in all of Skyrim. You play as Dragonborn. You have the soul of a dragon. So really, in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim you play as a bisixual zoophilic dragon in a mortal humanoid body, forced to stay in the closet because the only evidence of the actual open-mindedness of the region you live in comes from a cat man known for randomly running about and being a liar.

Hell, maybe that explains it =/

I have quickread your post, so forgive me if I misinterpret it.

Where are the bisixual couples? Where are the hermaphrodites? Where's the endless pool of virgins, eager to please rhe Dragonborn?
Where?
No.
TES is no vehicle for PC campaigns. This is fiction, not a sixual manifesto.

sixual themes are notoriously absent from SKyrim. Prostitution could've been nicely interwoven with the story - General Tullius, for example, could have recruited the sixual services of a Stormcloak female spy or, perhaps, Ulfric could have been keen on a curvaceous pro-imperial infiltree.
The most i've gotten were a few quasi-raunchy jokes.

Unfortunately even mindedness is lost on some people. And it's certainly not the only problem. The rpg forum I frequent had a recent thread by an black fella mentioning the lack of video games with non white protagonists compared to white protagonists, etc. People have commented on the lack of strong, mature female leads in games. I think the gaming industry is coming along on this. It wont happen overnight but rather does change happen fast.

Funny you mentioned that...

Hadvar sleeps with his uncle, and I also saw the kid sleeping with him. Now there is something you don't expect to see in a game. Well, luckily they weren't spooning! However, the wife didn't seem to mind. She went to sleep at the inn, with the female innkeeper. It is like the SIMS, without the whoopie... lol

Yeah, totally rare. Except there is like a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animals_displaying_homosixual_behavior that display homosixual behaviour. Go figure what's normal and what's not.

Except humans are animals. We're social and sixual creatures at heart. There's at most a 1/10 ratio of homosixuals in humanity, and that's not counting all the bisixuals, heteroflexibles, pansixuals, asixuals, men and women in the closet etc.

Point being, human sixuality isn't black and white. It comes in a variety of flavors and aspects that goes beyond the straight/gay dichotomy.
