As the culmination of a long series of events foretold in TES, its my favorite installation.

Mechanics and options, probably in my top 10 of traditional fantasy RPG's.

Below Arcanum and above Kirby's Dreamworld...

I don't know where that is exactly, I don't make numeric lists for all my preferences until I get that job at Cracked.com I have always wanted

games off the top of my head that i liked better in no particular order:

deus ex

deus ex HR

vampire bloodlines

shadowrun on my sega genesis

new horizons on my snes

system shock 2

amnesia (still can't bring myself to finish that game it is so freaking scary)

Ultima series

mount and blade warband

fallout 3

fallout NV

baldurs gate 2

witcher 1 and 2 (this amazes me because i normally hate third person games but that game was really good)

skyrim

I am sure im forgetting some but that's just what popped into my head now.

I would say it is in my top 5 for sure. Hard to topple Ultima 7/Serpent Isle , Baldur's Gate 2 and Morrowind, but damn this is a good game.

To be honest, Skyrim is my #1. I've been with the series a long time, so I'm no new comer, but I've never had this type of a gaming experience in my life. Many of you may disagree, some times for nostalgia's sake, but for me it's #1, it's up there with Orcarina.

Haha. The first time I loaded up Morrowind and answered the "personality" questions to define my character I thought ULTIMA!!! I spent wayyyy too many hours on Ultima 7 part 1 and 2. No internet back then so you had to take notes and pay attention or you would get totally lost. :wallbash:

See now thats a real tricky one for me as I have played a huge number of games in my time. I would personally have to class it in the genre specifically as its unfair to compare it to sports games etc.

I think I would place it in 4th place of my all time favourite RPG games. My al time favourite RPG is a dead heat between an old obscure sega RPG called something like "Valley of the Golden Sun" which was a D&D party based RPG and the MMO "Guild Wars" and its expansions.

Valley had me destroy 2 Megadrives (genesis) systems from almost constant usage, and GW had me hooked for a year and kept me coming back for months on end with each expansion.

#1 My top games are all of the Bethesda-published open world games, TES, Fallout. I'm having a blast in Skyrim and it's nudged Oblivion down to #2 because it's now my favorite game of all time. The only other game I love nearly as much as these is Portal 2....really enjoyed that game. :tes:

I've played a ridiculously high number of games across all genres and platforms so making a comprehensive list would be too much effort.

But I'd say it's at the same point as Morrowind for me, which is either just above or just below Dragon Age: Origins, which is below Icewind Dale 2, and not as high as Psychonauts, Bioshock, and Shadow of the Colossus (as my favorite games are ones that particularly stand out from others, whereas the TES series, unique at first has been low-risk in formula changes since then.)

If that can put it into some perspective. Whether or not that's in top 10 or top 20 is anyone's guess however.
