So, who is looking forward to the arbitrary month-long wait

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 5:13 pm

Remember, microsoft and Bethesda agreed on a deal where the 360 gets DLC first, and everybody else has to wait a month. Won't that be fun? :)

If the DLC is anything like the vanilla game I couldn't care less.

Are we supposed to care? If anything, with some luck the month gap will mean we'll be getting minor fixes when we non-XBOX people get it.

Doesn't concern me a bit. I'll play something else in the mean time, or continue to enjoy Skyrim. I don't need to keep up with the Jones. I'm still waiting for a deal on FO:NV before I buy it.

Considering Skyrim isn't competetion, it's a do what you want when you want type game.... waiting a few extra weeks is fine. Used to it anyway from other games that have had timed releases.

The DLC will likely introduce a load of new bugs. So good luck to the XBOX users who will be beta testing it.

That 30 day wait will be bug fixing time for us non-Box users. I don't really care when I look at it from this perspective. I'd rather have it later and complete rather than earlier and buggy

I usually wait before downloading any new content to see what the general outcry is. Wait a bit for a patch or two. Install and enjoy.

Besides, I still haven't played all the guild quests, etc. I'll be able to keep myself busy. And if I can't, well, we PCers have access to some of the best mods in existence. And if that means waiting a month for official DLC, so be it.

As an Xbox player, I will be thouroughly enjoying the DLC. While I won't argue that the bugs will indeed take some time to fix, I'll still bet that most of the people here saying Xbox players will be the Beta testers, are the same ones who defended the same buggy release of the game itself. But because you have to wait 30 days, it's diffeerent? I guess I'd feel that way as well.

By the time DLC is announced, released, and we're waiting 30 days, plenty more mods will have arrived, so that is what will keep me busy.

The fun is in laughing at MS :D Seriously, they've thrown money at Bethesda yet again and I'd highly doubt that 30-day window influences anyone's buying decision in regards to choosing the Xbox version over the others.

Can't really blame Bethesda for taking the deal either.

I can only speak for myself, but we waited a month or two (mid-Jan) before buying the game, which allowed for some patching. Part of the wait was due to needing to upgrade our PC. We still haven't downloaded the 1.4 patch because the game doesn't seem too buggy and we wanted to see if other bugs were created. Now we're just looking for a good window of time to download it.

The thing is, I'm sure the PC releases will have their own bugs that you may or may not manifest of the XBox. So, who knows. But I really don't mind waiting to let some of these things be worked out, so long as I'm still able to have fun with the product. Since I am having fun it's sort of a non-issue. It I was getting glitched to all get out, we'd be having a different discussion.

Meh, it doesn't bother me at all. Console gamers deserve to be thrown a bone, since they can't use mods they are gonna need content sooner than PC players. And PS3 players? Lol, I feel so bad for them.

I'm not particularly bothered by it, as I'll just buy skyrim on steam instead and dl the creation kit.

BTW is there a post threshold before you can post links in here? It's thoroughly annoying.

They get no mods, have to wait for DLC, and had the buggiest Skyrim release of all, also they own a PS3. =p

Kidding about that last part...

...or am I?

Why?

Since we're 'last' apparently (along with the PC version which is M$ )

I have the game on the PS3 and PC. Haven't taken advantage of mods yet, but still having fun in Vanilla land.

Have no interest in mods (Wish I could use console command though), my Skyrim wasn't buggy at all, Xbox often getting the DLC a month before was one of the reasons I bought a PS3.

Eh, you're lucky about the bugs, but why would you prefer to wait for the DLC?

Yeah, I might have been lucky about the bugs but I know plenty of people that didn't experience bugs.
As for the DLC: Because that one month might give to developers time to correct bugs before I get my hands on it.

Considering youtube vids are going to provide spoilers for 30 days, it is going to be great. Like when Skyrim leaked on the consoles early, but all legal like so the videos can stay up.

I'm going to get to see it all before I can play it, don't really need to buy it for full price. If I can wait 30 days, I can wait 90 too.

Well, in a perfect world they could just fix the bugs before release and push the DLC for everyone back a month. I really don't think they intend to use the Xbox owners as beta testers. Also a DLC will be significantly smaller and less likely to have nearly the amount of bugs the initial release had.
