The cushions might have rotted away given the time that has past since they were last used.

Also, if they were just normal sized elves... why are they called dwarfs? And if they were smaller than the other races, why is it surprising that they had small chairs?

That's what I had assumed. The Dwemer have been gone for centuries so it's safe to assume that all their soft furnishings have rotted..

I don't think the chairs look small but the Dwemer of Skyrim could have been different to the Dwemer of Morrowind. The same way people in Europe can have different average heights/lengths despite being relatively close. You also have to consider, if the Dwemer weren't the same size as the other races, why is their armour so large?

:D You should have seen it before I edited it. It had this link in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jG8OjKiGAvE

Maybe the Dwemer had access to the console and the setscale command. Could explain a lot about them.

Can I go ahead and quell what has become a fairly common myth in this thread? Dwemer chairs, even in third person, are small. They just are. Sit down, stand up, turn around...small. Also, while Dwemer in Morrowind appear to be the same height as Nords, they are crouching. Somehow this has not been taken into account which has also mystified me.

Really? http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dwarves

All my TES nerd rage is coming out on you... If you read a damn thing about the Dwemer you would know they are only called Dwarves by the Imperials and they could of possibly gotten that name from Giants... Don't make claims unless you actually take more than 20 seconds to do research.

EDIT: I see he was being a smart ass.... Still my nerd rage is not subsided.

Those aren't Dwemer chairs. Those are the chairs they made the Falmer sit it. You've seen the Falmer: no butt at all, and it's due to those damned chairs!

Argh! Mer's inmermanity to mer!

From my observations, the dwemer made chairs, the perfect size for mer like my character. The other chairs seem to be abnormally large as there is always loads of extra space at the edges. Maybe the dwemer were just very efficient and made their furniture the perfect size for the average being.

Good looking character, too. :P

Lol If I wanted to give an rational answer:

The chairs are merely frames, the pillows and clothing that covered the chair has been decayed of the millenia's. (perhaps adventures/falmer placed some clothing to make it more... bearable?)

If you want my irrational answer:
Dwarves had small bottems. :D

Well, they weren't on the best of terms with their slaves, were they?
Maybe the Falmer pulled the chairs away one too many times when their Dwemer masters went to sit down, so the Dwemer bolted the chairs to the ground.

Dwemer were supposed to be short, they just couldnt make waist high people work in older games. I really hope they add them in a dlc so all of you can get into a nerd rage of "they're supposed to be altmer sized!"

Theres proof in skyrim they're short.. low chairs, beds and tables in dwemer ruins. Small "houses" in blackreach. Lastly theres a quest that has 2 dwemer in full dwarven armor and you can clearly see they're shorter then the madman who's not a tall man (hinting because i cant do spoilers on mobile)

Ignore all the facts if you like and pretend to see those tiny chairs as chairs fitting altmer sized people but fact is this isnt morrowind and races change appearances with each game as technology gets better to show them in "true" form.

That would be a good point, aside from the fact that Dwemer are described as not being short in several lore sources.
Im afraid that we wont be seeing any in a dlc, unless this takes place before 1E700, when the entire race was removed from Tamriel.

Your pictures (nice ones, btw, love the clothes on your char!) proves what I suspected. Dwemer chairs aren't as small as they look.
I sat my Nord follower in one the other day, and he looked perfectly comfortable.

True but another fact is that beth butchers lore every now and then to make changes and add new things to TES. Also we do have the elder scroll so a time travel DLC is feasible

I wasn't aware that there were dwemer in that quest. I have completed it twice and I have yet to see any dwemer. I think I have a save from then, so I will go investigate later.

So what are you saying? That you're wrong, but Bethesda could conceivably change everything for no reason to make you right?

The chairs aren't small, the Japanese have low beds too, Dwemer armor and weapons are human-sized, the ghosts are human sized, the lone living Dwemer is human sized and your common sense is hobbit-sized.

snip

I redid the quest and I checked those two people you were talking about.
Spoiler

I had to kill and strip them, but they were actually Nords in Dwemmer armour.

Completely off-topic but I had never realised that Bethesda put so much detail into their character models. I just realised that you can see the veins in the legs of stripped characters.
