Why are Dwemmer Chairs so Tiny?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:16 pm

Did they have a new guy working on those who didn't get the memo about them being outrageously tall and lanky? Anyone else notice this?

The Dwemer are not tiny. They are normal sized elves.

What he meant was that they're not dwarves in the traditional sense. They were the same size as every other race.

Everything on the Dwemer is proportional to Wood Elves...except for the ass.
Regular sized body, tiny asses.

But they are ~1.7 m tall, not 1.1 m tall.

Dwarves in TES are not Dwarves like in other games, like the short, stunty ones with big beards and wide girths.

Dwarves in TES = Another sort of elves(mer).

Based on all the evidence in this thread the only conclusion I can draw is that perhaps the Dwemer had really short legs, and really long torsos.

ah right thank you for pointing that out, I always thought they were, but reading of UESP it says they are no shorter than any other elves

They also slept on stone beds... I don't think the Dwemer were terribly concerned with creature comforts.

Who stops and sits in a dwemer ruin, filled with Falmer and weird machines? The Chairs could be HUGE for all I care. I just go in and fight my way out LOL ;)

Anyway, Vorstag made a very astute observations yesterday: "The Dwemer build so many wondrous machines. How come nobody ever picked up where they left off?"
I turned around and looked at him and said "Dude, you got a point. Why is that, I wonder?" LOL

Every time I pass one of those things I think that they must've had some chronic back problems.

"As previously mentioned, the Dwemer were no shorter than any other elven race, despite being classically described as such. Their physical appearance is hard to judge, as http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Yagrum_Bagarn lives bloated and deformed by http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Corprus, and the only other visual examples come from sculptures and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Undead#Dwarven_Spectres found in their ruined dwellings. It can be deduced, however, that long beards were popular amongst the lost elves, and they preferred heavy metal armors and robes. Their remaining features could be described similarly to that of the other elven races, as no specific information exists."

From the uesp wiki

So really small stature is not the reason, but maybe they were the Dwemer children's chairs lol

Just a note: there are in game sources for both schools of thought, that dwarves were normal size, and that dwarves were shorter than average. There's no good reason to believe one source over the other.

Further, for all it's interesting lore, The Elder Scrolls has managed to deliver High Elves that are High Elves, Wood Elves that are Wood Elves, and Orcs that are Orcs. I don't think anyone should be surprised if they decide to give us Dwarves that are Dwarves.

So do the people of Markarth, because they are too stupid to make their own beds and must use the Dwemer stone slabs.

Actually there is one ruin that calls for you to sit on a bench to deactivate spinning blade trap. So, yea I sit on the chairs too.

It is all part of Dwemer leadership's plan to control the masses.
I don't want to sleep in a stone bed or sit in a tiny chair might as well make another centurion.

or tiny bums
