Why are Dwemmer Chairs so Tiny?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:19 am

The cushions might have rotted away given the time that has past since they were last used.

Also, if they were just normal sized elves... why are they called dwarfs? And if they were smaller than the other races, why is it surprising that they had small chairs?

The first race that came across them were tall.

I just want to know where they met the talking giants. All I've ever heard on say is "Uhhhh" after I hit him. (And that might have been my companion.)

Lol, I wonder this too. Idk :/

OK, here are the screenshots of Dahrk Mezalf (a Dwemer Specter) with a few different races. I thought lore said that Dwemer were Dunmer/Imperial/Breton height, but this one looks to be about the same height as a Bosmer, or a little shorter. (I tried paralyzing Mezalf for a better shot, but I couldn't think of a quick, cheap way to keep him standing still.)

The Dwemer were little mofos. But a very cruel, intelligent race indeed.

One problem is that it is impossible to get a Dwarven Spectre to stand upright like your player characters... ideally you should be pulling the same animation as him

Yes, really. The Dwemer are of average elf size, they're called dwarves because this is what giants called them. To giants, yes, they would be small -- to humans, not so much. So they're not the Tolkein dwarves you're thinking of.
We really should stop linking to a wiki that we wrote as evidence that we are correct. Is it there because it's correct, or is it correct because it's there? We're begging the question here.

One book in game says they were of average height... one. At least one other says they were the size of "large children". None of the in-game appearances of dwemer have been conclusive on this point.

"Dwemer are of normal height, giants called them that because they were short to them" is very widely believed to be true, but it has no more backing that "dwarves were dwarves."

well they just needed to look at that dwarf in morrowind and sized up what his ass would of looked like if he had any, that would of been the simplest of answers.

Unfortunately, Corpus warps the body in such a way as to make Yagram useless for determining what his people might look like.

In TES lore Dwemer were as tall as high elves.

Stone beds. Stone chairs. No cushions. A bunch of hard asses.
If the bed is too hard, than you are too weak!

Ye ken us dwemer lads weere nay overtall as snooty elves. An how dare ye accuse a proud dwarf of nay being proud o' his beard?

Say that again laddy and I'll cut ye down ta dwarf size with mah trusty axe, so I will.

Is their a way to scale the beds in the ruins? Chair and bench height's/width often change due to fashion, Think southern bell skirt's, benches tended to be lower and chair's wider. This kept the skirt's down, trust me sitting in one is an art.

Bed's tend to be slightly longer than the average person is tall.

The Dwemer are not tiny. They are normal sized elves.

which elves? It is only Altmer who are tall. They may claim to be pure but my guess is they are freaks on nature that have grown overly tall. Bosmer and Dunmer are the purer height. Orsimer are stocky but again aren't tall. Falmer again aren't tall.

The Dwemer ghosts in Morrowind weren't large. They were again on the smaller size

I remember reading that the Dwemer were named "Dwarves" by ancient Giants, due to their tiny relative size, what interest me more is that Giants used to talk

your right. I've sat in them. They aren't so small. They just look it.

Maybe the Dwemer in their advance knowledge were making a chair that is better for the back.

The dwemer were dwarves from the perspective of the giants who named them so.

Also, why are dwemer doors so tall?

Probably for the same reasons average gates for cities and the like are so big.

I think the time has come once again to discuss DWEMER CHAIRS!

I always just thought the chairs were the metal frame remnants of chairs that were once upholstered. Same with the stone beds. Dwemer are alien enough to be capable of anything though.
I remembered Dahrk Mezalf and Radac to be about my height (I play a Dunmer).

I'd guess their doors are tall because of centurions.
