Why Skills Won't be Nerfed

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 1:40 pm

The balance is there.
There have been many many replies in these threads on how players can achieve balance via careful perk spending...or not perk spending...or by spending them all.

Some people have the solution put right in front of their face...but because it's up to them and not a built in mndatory game mechanic...they refuse to accept it.

So I go back to my original statement.
Some players need to understand how TES works.
Some people need to understand how to develop a character.

The balance is there? If the balance was there then crafting wouldn't break the game and make it too easy. If the balance was the then enemies would range from easy to challenging to deadly whether or not we had steel weapons or dragoon weapons. Apparently uou aren't grasping this concept. the game should be balanced for a mage, a warrior, a thief, a bard, a crafter, etc. Not just for the warrior.

One doesn;t need to use the console...I never have...and one doesn;t need to break the game.

Again....if you refuse to see or use the fix that's right in front of your freekin face...well...have fun playing your "broken" game.
You're missing out on a great experience because of your stubborness alone.

But I am playing the game. How else would I know that there are things wrong with it unless of course I were being disingenuous? Don't get me wrong, I like the game, but there are many poor design decisions that keep it down from what it could be.

Despite the fact that this is Bethesda we're talking about I prefer to keep hope alive that they may some day improve, and the best way to do that is with constructive negative feedback. They handled crafting poorly, so send in feedback in the hopes that they may learn to do it right by the time Elder Scrolls XIV rolls around. Earlier works too.

Nah, the problem is person A can't control themselves or give up their godly armor and items, yet they want to come here and complain about them.

I imagine TES games are not for the person A since you could enchant armor and become a god in Morrowind and Oblivion. Nothing was more cheesy than 100% chameleon suites...

There should not be a need for godly armor and items unless there are godly opponents and challenges to justify them. The fact that they haven't gotten balance right in previous games is no excuse for continuing to have poor balance forever.

Most people here think that the ones who demand more balance are new and don't understand the game's logic.

Well, I play ES for a long time and I know that none of the previous ESs were perfectly balanced. However, they were still enjoyable and the balance in them was acceptable. We could close our eyes to "100% chameleon" and "100% weakness to magic, fire, etc." and enjoy the game if we wanted it a bit more challenging.

In skyrim, however, we can and can't choose perks at the same time. And worse, sometimes, we reach a conclusion that the perk we chose made the game too easy and we can't go back. Also, there are perks which make other perks useless. Like "100% cost reduction" enchantments that make magic cost reduction perks useless. This is something that really turns me away and makes me mad while playing this game.

So, since you create and use godly items, the game is no fun for you? Or, you just like to come to the boards to complain about balance?

I never really understood these arguments, and I'm not being sarcastic...

Yeh....I'm guessing "player A" put all his level points into health, maxed out all his weapon and armor skills as well as crafting skill so he could make the best stuff.
And then he whined about being overpowered.

With a simple adjustment in his mindset regarding character development, "Player A" could be fighting for his life in every battle.

But he made the choice to be a god in Skyrim.
I made a choice to have a comlpletely different character build.
I'm not complaining and all the "Player A's" are.

That's about all I can say.
And still people will blame the game instead of their choices.

Don't say that. That's what they fear the most. Bethesda destroying their godlike characters.

I'm loving that the solution to a game losing its challenge is to tell people to svck more.

So your saying that since gamesas couldn't get balance right in past games, that they shouldn't try to in the next games?

skills wont get nerfed because this is a single player game what is the point?
Then why even make different difficulty settings?

Its all super easy, its foolish. I can't take stealth/conjuration/crafting without trivializing the game even on Master - and thats bad game design.

No I'm not gonna keep whining about this, since mods somewhat solve the problem, and probably will vastly continue to do so once CK releases - but I feel bad for console users.

Yeh...okay.

If you have about 20 minutes I'll explain to you how you can create a viable non god character that's fun to play.
It's apparent you'll need the extra tutoring time.

I don't want to bore the rest of these peopel with the step by step instructions right now though.

It's actually a very simple process....for most of us.

Well what people do while playing a game is trying to become good at it. Only if you're playing against your kids you wouldn't do that

Some people just need to understand how to balance gameplay.

Some people need to underatand that the universe doesn't actually revolve around them....

Apparently you can't tell that players want to be able to create a "godly" character and still expect to fight against things that give them a challenge.

Seriously... have you played any other RPGs?

Let's take Final Fantasy VII, Dungeons & Dragons, and Oblivion.

In Final Fantasy VII, even when you had Knights of the Round, or Omnislash, you still had challenges. Emerald and Ruby Weapon were not cake walks, Ultima Weapon, Jenova, and Sephiroth were not cake walks.

D&D, even if you're tricked out like Jarlaxle or Drizzt Do'Urden... you aren't going to walk all over a dragon, on your own, you're not going to walk all over demons, gods, etc.

In Oblivion, Chameleon Armor broke the game. Do you know how Chameleon Armor could have been balanced out? More enemies with Detect Life. Battles are no longer cake walks.

Just because I can create great weapons and armor doesn't mean the game shouldn't be balanced accordingly to that.

How in the hell is that hard to understand?

You mean like how you're telling us how to play?

Correct me if I'm wrong (which I'm not), asking for the crafting system to be re~balanced doesn't touch you in the slightest since you don't use crafting, does it?

So... in order for "us" to be challenged, we have to play like "you," is that it?

Or...you could max everything out and complain about it.

If you think this game is all about maxing as many skills as possible...well guess what? You've apparently already found out that, if you want some challenge, you probably shouldn't do that.
There are other ways to play this game besides maxing skills.

Is player choice too hard for you?

Be stubborn and stay in your little box of how to play games....or open uo, step out, and try things a different way.

The choices are there. It's all up to you.

What would balance the game out more in your eyes?

One fairly easy fix to balance would be to give enemies more than just additional health at higher levels. Give them more armor, give them more magic resist, potentially even give them the same perks the player can have.

If I can cleave through their armor via a perk, why can't they do the same to mine?

More enemies with Detect Life. Battles are no longer cake walks.

That would be sweet.

For people who say that Beth don't like to balance the games.. So why did you think beth remove levitate or chameleon? Because you could kill anything with it

Apparently you haven't figured out that this is NOT those other games.
Stop trying to play it like those other games.

It's NOT those other games.
W've already had them and played them.
Now we have this.

Play the game you have..not the game you were thinking it might be like. Because it's not like them

That is a good thing.

We've already done all that other stuff.

That's why I keep saying that players need to look at this differently. But if you/they refuse....you're missing out...not me.

You still don't get it.

I made the choice to get Knights of the Round, the most powerful summon in Final Fantasy VII, and several bosses were still challenging.

I made the choice to create the best weapon I could in Skyrim and nothing is challenging anymore.

How do you not see that difference?

Why do I have to REMOVE CHOICE FROM A GAME BASED ON CHOICES to be challenged?

Let me make my Dragon Armor of Invincibility. Then laugh at me as Alduin casts Disenchant on my gear and eats me alive.

I remember FF games being cakewalks once you figured them out. The final boss fights and all...

D&D... um.. visit some of the character optimization boards... wizards can destroy the world pretty easily, and Hulking Hurlers can pick up the world and throw it into the sun.

Giving all mobs in oblivion detect life just makes sneaking useless...
