Why do you play on a console?

Post » Fri Jul 06, 2012 4:12 pm

I play Skyrim on console only because my laptops would explode if I tried to run it on any of them.

Because I don't have the moneys too build a computer that's able to run today's games and most of my real life friends and people I know play on the Xbox 360.
same here save for caring what my friends play on i dont have xbox live gold because i feel its underhanded to force someone to pay to play multiplayer.

Why? They have to maintain the network to allow people to play multiplayer, but they're not supposed to charge for that?

I prefer to play on a PC, but only if hooked to a nice sized tv that is a good distance away and only if using a Xbox controller. I hate screens right in my face and I hate playing with a mouse & keyboard.

At this stage in my life, the money I would need for a gaming PC is taken up by more pressing expenses (like keeping the lights on). I'd like to get back to PC one day, but as 30 looms ever closer, gaming loses more and more spots in the priority line.

Edit: I'm not saying that gaming is only for young folks or people with skewed priorities, it's just not as important to me as it used to be.

I play on a console because I just don't have the time or interest to build a PC. Consoles just come in a ready-to-go package. It's just easier and simpler. It sits with your blu ray player and satellite box, etc. You can sit on your couch (I know you can do this with PC, but again, neither the time nor interest to make it happen).
That and I've always found that PC's have a weird graphical look to them. Hard to explain, but you can always tell that it's "PC" graphics. I just prefer the console look.

I definitely use a controller. I played Skyrim for about a day with the keyboard and mouse, and then got hold of a wired 360 controller, and I'm MUCH happier with it.

As for the closeness of the monitor, all that really matters to me is how much of my field of view it takes up. An 18" monitor sitting on a desk works about the same as a large TV ten feet away. That said, I have hit that point in my life where presbyopia is a concern, and so I've thought more about using the HDMI output to the TV.

This is me as well. That dam mouse tares my wrist up. I got The Witcher for then PC, as a prep for W2 and had to stop after the prolog..Ha!

Yes, I tried it but was forced to quit. Then I found out about Xpadder. It cost 10 bucks but it can be used for any game. I now can play The Witcher, Morrowind and Oblivion. Looking at the traverse application, 10 dollars is steal.

Even though my FOV is less with a 47" at 6 feet away, I love the TV better than a monitor.

EDIT :

Yeah, no kidding, 40 is the time when presbyopia starts cropping up. Some a little earlier, some a little later, but it's very common.

Hell, you ever tried running? I didn't run much until I was 35, and man I don't remember running being that hard when I was younger.

Can I say Why I don't play on Console?

if so....

I don't play on Console because Console games are all buggy and the devs are always soo ignorant to that fact and don't fix anything.. Mods fix that, Not saying mods make the PC superior in terms of content.. Because I can assure you 99% of all mods are garbage... (on skyrim)

Easier to control and It makes typing easier for when you go off into the real world...

Graphics... You may say, oh the consoles have good "enough" graphics... But its not always about being enough... When you play a game and your just blown away by what you see.. Its truly remarkable..

I really really really hate the community on the consoles... One time my friend influenced me to get a Call Of Duty game and I can say everyone in that game was 5 years old or less.. All were screaming and when I really did study on the game itself... It really didn't bring much to the table in terms of creativity... On PC, I have played on PC for about 2 years, never came into contact with screaming children, but found a cool bunch of people, 85% of the time older.. Probably due to the fact that minors tend to not be able to use a Mouse and Keyboard..

Also, the amount of games available on the PC... Ya, there are exclusives on the consoles.. But I would never want to play Gears Of War or Halo... Just because I did that and noticed they aren't exactly much more creative than that of Call Of Duty.. You may say, hold on sir.. The online is awesome... And I would say, play a PC online game.. See how they compare...

As I said I am just saying this from a PC perspective to just say why i switched from Console to PC... Hope you don't make a foul remark about my beliefs when it comes to consoles..

This is always the beginning of the end, for these threads.
Then why do people like the OP make so many threads such as these. I mean, isn't the answer quite obvious? It seems as though these questions are formulated to get a "rise" out of people. Never have I heard console users question pc players for their platform of choice, yet it seems routine to ask console users the same. It's just strange to me, maybe because i've owned both pc and console, but the advantages and disadvantages for both platforms are common knowledge.

He didn't ask for your opinion on why you hate consoles. He asked console players why that's their platform of choice...

I don't have the money to buy a computer that can play today's game, I like the bigger screen, the controls aren't as complex, and most of my friends are on Xbox live. Plus I have a pretty sweet surround sound system.

Because console gamers place pc on a pedestal due to mods/free content and 'better' performance.
They fail to acknowledge price, developers slowly easing away from pc gaming and the constant updates needed to be able to play.

Who, me? Nah. I'm just making sure people know their options. If a console is the best fit for your wallet and other concerns, knock yourself out. I have a 360 myself.
