My PC wouldn't be able to handle Skyrim. My old arcade Xbox was lagging during some explosion stuff with fire, you think if my old arcade version Xbox can handle it, my computer would be able to? Nope. It's fan is also dying out on my computer at some point it will give way, I fear.

I have no choice in the matter, a new desktop replacement would cost to much, and even then the parts for a good PC game are to expensive.

I'm pretty sure he meant that HIS PC isn't good enough...

Yes and if that is what he means I apologize not trying to flame anyone. So we done now?

This, without the poor punctuation and spelling.

I didn't stop and think "which platform do I wish to play Skyrim on?" It fell in my lap, I fell in love and the rest has just been a blood spilling frenzy. However, reading posts about mods and the additions to the games that mods make available makes me consider the alternative. Maybe one day. Maybe Santa will think I've been a good boy this year. I mean.....as long as he overlooks my involvement with the Dark Brotherhood.

1) Prefer playing single player RPGs on my console
2) Can chill on sofa with feet up whilst playing
3) Like the PS3 controller

I can only imagine what a high end PC with the visual mods would look like on a glorious HDTV.

I play on console simply because its easier for me. My PC aint really up to the task of playing Skyrim as it should be on the PC so I just bought it for Xbox as I knew I would at least get a decent level of graphics quality without the hassle.

I acttuall DON'T prefer my PS3 to a computer. I used to play all games on computer and even made mods for the public on Morrowind. I miss that a lot. BUT I could not keep up with worrying about specs and requirements as newer, more demanding games came out. It's nice not to have to worry about whether or not the game will "run on my system". Plus I like being able to trade in games and buy used. I guess it all boils down to finances.

All my friends are on XBox and I don't have a PC that can run games like Skyrim, let alone its mods. If I could switch I would.

Agreed. I'm blown away with the console hooked to my big HDTV. The PC with mods must be glorious.

Well, I don't really own that good of a gaming computer, and I own an Xbox so it's a lot easier for me.

For me it's the ease and convenience of just being able to slap a disc in the tray and play a game. No downloading the latest drivers, no compatibility issues. I'm willing to live with the performance tradeoff.

I was a PC gamer for a number of years, but eventually just got tired of trying to keep up with the latest specs. And while it's true that console graphics get pretty dated by the end of the cycle (which is where we are now), they still improve within the space of that cycle as developers get better at squeezing every ounce of performance from the hardware. It isn't always a bad thing to work within constraints.

Having said all that, Skyrim and its mod community makes me want to go ahead and drop a grand on a good gaming rig. But I can't really justify the investment for a single game.

Having Skyrim crash me three times today already, i'm kind of envious of that :hehe:

I do have a PS3, but i bought that for console exclusives. If it's a multiplatform release, i go for PC everytime. And my monitor is bigger than my TV :P

I will say, I played Xbox for years... years. Well, maybe not that long. I guess I got my first one about 11 yrs ago... When I was younger I played some games on PC, but when the Sega, Nintendo 64, Playstation all came out.. They just seemed so much better. Then, most computers I had were always a few years too old for the games I would have considered playing. Plus, I couldn't get use to mouse and keyboard.

What finally turned me was a few months ago, I bought a $50 video card for my 5 year old computer. I wanted to try mods and realized I could now run Oblivion for PC. I was hooked.

And at this point I must say. You do NOT need to spend 1K plus for a PC to play Skryim. I ended up buying a new computer. I spent $580 on it. I can play Skyrim now at high settings with the HD texture pack. I did end up buying a newer video card for about $200 but that was due to wanting triple monitors.

I still love my Xbox and nothing beats being all comfy on the TV in front of my 55" tv. My family would kill me if I took it over with the PC so that isn't happening..

[blunt] MY PC IS HORRID!!! My FPS on Skyrim is about 1! It makes me want to punch a dragon in the face! [/blunt]

+1 to whoever gets the hidden reference.

I have always played on a playstation platform. I am used to the controllers and I have no PC that won't blow up if I tried to play a modern game. I had to buy an old x-box just to play morrrowind though.,

Because I originally spent about $350 on my xbox. And most of my friends play on xbox. Add in the fact that I've used controllers since I played my PS2, and you can understand why PC games feel awkward to me. And, FYI, you don't have to pay $1000 for a computer that will run skyrim. According to what ive been told, a $550 computer will run skyrim on high settings.
