Reasonable directions IN the quest journal so I can complete the damned quests without the quest markers.

Just one thing?
Attributes and all the missing skills, aka, true character creation.

Runners up:
  • Spell crafting
  • Weapon degradation
  • A true inventory with paper doll and item icons
  • Separate greaves/ cuirass
  • Short swords
  • A real journal!

Oblivion? How about Morrowind!

Levitation
(spell crafting)
(Morrowind style enchanting)

In my opinion, Levitation broke Morrowind as did it's enchanting style (with Intelligence potions and the way they stacked, you could enchant anything to the max)... the power of exploiting either of these was too great to refuse.

lol!

because story, dialogue and quests don't make an rpg. they provide the content, not, the core mechanics.

it was a simple post topic and i gave a simple and relevant response. the simplicity of skyrim and it's lack of core rpg mechanics is obvious.

if you want to debate this aspect then start your own thread.

Exactly. When I think of how much I enjoyed games like Wizardry or even D&D... they premise was simple... you are an adventurer and fortune seeker of whatever class... get your equipment, go dungeon dive and adventuring, scoop up your loot, buy better equipment, increase your skills, etc.

I loved that playstyle. I have no idea why "story" became so important. I want to discover, adventure, loot, and make my character the best of his class with all of the best gear and with tons of money. Then, when I'm done doing that, I'll make another character to do the same thing.

I want darker dungeons.

I used to love the Dwemer ruins in Morrowind. You could delve so deep in them that you'd reach lava pools. That was awesome. And they were dark as hell.

there are always exploits in TES games. Removing core features become some choose to exploit a glitch is lazy design IMO

I want darker dungeons.

I agree here. It would be nice if at least some of the dungeons didn't have fires burning everywhere
I would bring back Oblivion. Portals to Oblivion. I know it wouldn't make sense lore wise but maybe an expansion. Return to Oblivion?
Nope. Anything but this. I'd even prefer Oblivions "Botox" faces over those irritating portals

Oblivion's innocence...
You notice how Oblivion ended in such a 'Huzzah' of victory and happiness? How all the Guilds were put right?

Look at Skyrim. All the original guilds are in disarray. They could easily disappear from the Lore after this. Even the fate of the empire is uncertain. Dragons still roam the lands freely.

Innocence=Gone.

Need a good DLC to put everything right, I think.

First on the list would be, Spell Crafting Alter. Followed closely by Spell Crafting. Then in closing, the ability to craft Spells.

Id like to take it back further than that back to Morrowind status with left pauldron/right pouldron, left/right gauntlet, left/right boot. I mean you could make some pretty unique looking armors from just mixing the bag lol. I really do miss that, oh but also more creatures to fight, yeah dragons are cool but id give them up for ogres, goblins, and those man-crab dudes oh and a ton of cliffracers. lol
