If you could bring back one thing from oblivion, what would

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:28 pm

To sum it up, more things to be sought after. Unique weapons, more hidden treasure in even better hidden locations. Just little things here and there that make it a lot more exciting.

I'm not even going to go into detail as far as the mechanics go. All I will say in the line of features is arena and spell crafting. End. Of. Story.

Oh! And I want my leveling system back. I like the idea of the new one, but I think it made leveling up a little too easy, frankly.

The vanity image of my character in the inventory menu.
This - plus the proper vanity mode where you could freely rotate the camera around your character while moving forward (including with your weapon drawn). Same goes for riding on horseback.

Acrobatics and also the unique items. Those seem essential to looting and acrobatics were just a good skill

there are always exploits in TES games. Removing core features become some choose to exploit a glitch is lazy design IMO

Yep, but some are just too amazing to refuse! It's easy to refuse Smithing in Skyrim. But, man, the power of the Levitation and Enchanting in Morrowind was immeasurable... not tapping into it required way too much willpower. I created a god because of those.

Armor and weapon degrading. I want say another, the unarmed skill.

If there was a better way (instead of the ridiculous smithing hammer cure all that only made it tedious), I'd agree with you.

I agree here. It would be nice if at least some of the dungeons didn't have fires burning everywhere

Nope. Anything but this. I'd even prefer Oblivions "Botox" faces over those irritating portals

Some of the caves in Skyrim are rather dark and actually (sometimes) require Candlelight, Magelight, or a torch. But most of them are pretty well lit.

Re: Oblivion gates... LOL, I totally agree with you (and love the "botox" face remark)

I would bring back Oblivion. Portals to Oblivion. I know it wouldn't make sense lore wise but maybe an expansion. Return to Oblivion?
By the time I started with Oblivion, the plane itself was so scary I'd spend a whole game year before venturing into them. Right now I miss that plane, the red skies, its inhabitants... the sigil stones and so forth.

I miss oblivion... But If I could bring back one thing, it would be the not so serious attitude of oblivion. I just miss the little things that made oblivion my favorite game. It had a sense of humor that skyrim comes nowhere close to

Oblivion's innocence...
You notice how Oblivion ended in such a 'Huzzah' of victory and happiness? How all the Guilds were put right?

Look at Skyrim. All the original guilds are in disarray. They could easily disappear from the Lore after this. Even the fate of the empire is uncertain. Dragons still roam the lands freely.

Innocence=Gone.

Need a good DLC to put everything right, I think.
Agreed, Oblivion always felt a friendly and peaceful game, despite the torture and people tricking you into death traps. People were pleasant to interact with and were more expressive.

Alot of good suggestions so far. Where to begin? I think a decent vanity mode to view your character more properly when you craft a new piece of armor. A few more skills, (one in each style, [Combat, Stealth, and Magic]). I would like spears and crossbows brought back from Morrowind. At that rate, bring back thrown weapons too.

But, if I only have to choose one thing and one thing only. SPELLCRAFTING!!!!

Never played Oblivion so I have to take one thing from Morrowind ... Levitation!! OMG I would wake up dreaming of flying around my city lol. I love planes and travelling through the air. I remember the levitation spell in Morrowind when I learned about it just made it such a great experience.

I used to say that spell making has no place in Skyrim, but I've synced changed my mind. So that is one of the few things, perhaps the only thing, I want included from Oblivion.

I just want more spells. Maybe spellmaking but only if they all looked different and aren't the same looking spell being casted with more damage.

Dude could you be more depressing and boring.

But i would have to bring back the attributes from Oblivion, that includes acrobatics and athletics since I think those tied into your attributes.
However I do miss Oblivion's humor with people talking about mudcrabs, and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4InFyDvGaM, who doesn't miss this type of stuff?

I would bring back consequences for your actions. This is more from Morrowind though, although Oblivion was still better at this than Skyrim.
