Well sort of a noob moment, i should have realised after just finishing off oblivion, i was testing the scroll, and had a nice flame wall around me of course i had a companion with me, i had no idea what the scroll was going to do, so instantly my companion turns on me, couldnt get them to stop no matter what, i had to run out of the mine to get them to reset to their original meeting site, because i like this one companion and didnt want to kill them.

Okay, a lot of these are [censored] hilarious!

Here's a few of mine, if not all.

My noob moments were practising Alchemy... and forgetting I had an enchanted item that would boost that skill, and hence assist me in creating better potions. Or finding a supposedly rare Ancient, Honed Nordic Greatsword of 55 damage, smithing it to a 'flawless' 72... when there was a potion in my inventory that would have made me produce a weapon '40% better'.
I didn't know I could sprint until later in the game. Also, using the sticks on the PS3 to move and fight, but the lack of controls forcing me to use one of them to either sneak or shout upon push, sometimes too soon in combat, and sometimes in a city with no hostiles about.

Attempting to Fus-Du-Rah someone off a cliff but accidently using Whirlwind Sprint to throw myself off instead.

Yup, same here, haha.

Also runes(?): I had no idea what they were at first. My first experience with them was when I found some pretty shapes on the floor and decided to get closer to admire them. Experience is indeed the best teacher

Spent almost 2 hours in the first mission to get the dragonstone trying to figure out the code to the door, I read the bandits journal even but didn't know you could inspect things in your inventory. I even looked at the Dragon Claw but without knowing to zoom in on it, I was completely clueless. A friend was chatting with me on skype after that and I had to ask him about it. o.o;

-didn't know about the advantages of smithing and enchanting for my archer sneak type until lvl 30+ (and seeing here a 500+ dmg bow)
-at first i was using dual maces on this archer type for there damage and was wondering why was she so slow
-even now after hundreds of hours of gameplay i use a different shout that the one i thought was "on"
-being killed by wolfes, because of the simple light armor rating (on expert), and needing the damn follower to distract them
-carrying all kinds of food and potions until lvl 40+ hoping there is a use for them in the end
- not using wine and ale to recover stamina (in fallout alchool would impare some other important skills)
- the firts dragon claw bleak falls barrow puzzle i had to do it manualy, and the correct answer was the one before the last(as i've organised them as first secodn and third symbols)...facepalm
- the 4 rotaiting stones from underneath saarthal forced me to search the net for the answer. searched everywhere but didn't get it that the solution was before my eyes. i went out of the cave and searched for an hour for clues, on where the combination lies. solving it manualy with 4 symbols would've killed the game instantly for me

Took me well over 50 hours playtime to realize you could manipulate the items in your inventory; specifically being able to rotate the dragon claws.
wait what? you can do that??? :(

My worst noob moment is more to do with my computer...

Started up skyrim as per usual, and went straight into one my quick saves.
The game seemed abit sluggish and lagging, so I stood up from a crouch...
That was a bad idea... after about 30seconds a Forsworn Briarheart charging at me.
*Crap*

*bam* *bam* *bam*

I was smashing buttons, hitting shouts to try get him off me.
Follower and Dog both went off a cliff (one of my shouts).

Those things hurt like hell if you let them... with it lagging so bad, I was dead pretty quick.
... and with me killing my dog and companion, I stood no chance.

Abit frustrated I didn't bother to try again, so I quit and went to grab a cup of tea.
I came back and looked at k10stat (overclocking tool). It was laggy since I had left it on my extreme low power setting of 1.4Ghz max (undervolted) instead of 3.2Ghz. *face palm*

I love skyrim and this laptop, I'm just glad it overclocks so well. I however must remember to not leave it on it's low setting again. Default is 1.6Ghz btw.

Could well be me but the above could be in Greek and id understand it the same!

On topic:

1. Running, only figured i could sprint after reading these 'noob' threads!

2. Hotkeys (Figured out on my second character, first got to lvl 36 ish...)

3. Chickens

4. Un-notching arrows by firing them into the ground nearby. Didnt know about 'R'

5. Spending perks in speech, derp...

This happened to me too. Killing a dragon flying around the town and making mayhem. Then I prance around at lvl 3-4 and take sight on a chook and kill it. Pll runs up to me saying: You have commited a crime against Skyrim!

Luckily F5 is my best friend. :)

Creating my first charachter, I was disappointed at the lack of choices in facial features compared to Oblivion. While creating my second charachter I learned that I'd selected from the presets...and okay, I also didn't discover the "sprint" bar until level 10.

Finding out the hard way that trolls in Skyrim are much tougher enemies than they were in Oblivion.

Mine was at the beginning of the game I went up to a giant thinking it was friendly, and got knocked 200 feet in the air

Yeah I did that. The gameplay vids with Todd Howard said they're cool if you don't attack their Mammoths. he neglected to mention 'unless you enter the camp'....

Ditto the giant. Whip out my bow around level 12 or 15, start pluning him cockily. Run, shoot, run, shoot, almost dead, one last arrow should... I almost flew all of the way back to Whiterun. :)

I wouldn't even call this one a noob moment, more of stupidity.
I had recently found Barbas, and he was following me, anyway, was up on the throat of the world collecting the pickaxe and ores up there, got called away from the game, didn't pause thinking that "I'm safe on top of a mountain with Paarthunax sitting over there, he will surely kill any threats", anyway, came back and the game had reloaded a previous save. Found out later what may have caused it, apparently Barbas will push you around, guess he pushed me off the cliff? I'll never know. :(

That seems to be a pretty common mistake, I bet there are some bandits standing on high mountains laughing their asses off.

40+ hours to find out sprinting

My worst noob moment has to be... perks! I didn't know you could press forward and have other perks except the basic ones. I was grinding like hell to get to 60 in blocking, heavy armor and sword to be able to use my 3/5 perks, all the while thinking why there aren't more. LOL

OK - this is my first game like this, and I' m not a real gamer..... So when I started the game, I was thinking like a rational human would. In the opening salvo in Helgen, I somehow missed the remark about jumping out of the tower. Gotta understand - this whole experience was VERY new, and I was a bit rattled! I looked out that tower and thought " hell - I ain't jumpin' out of a perfectly good tower".

Eventually I found the yogscast that deals with the opening sequence.... Laughed out loud! Oh - I'm doing better now. .... Level 26 and climbing.

I envy your fresh experience!

I also recall my first experience in the tower. I mostly hid till it was over! :)

New here. Hi.

I found that barbas the dog, from the daedric quest, makes a pretty good tank... as he doesn't seem to be able to die. Can't sneak for sheet when he's around, but trade offs will be trade offs I guess. Was my newbie moment, to go level skills a bit :P
