Your most disappointing game?

Star Wars: Kinghts of the Old Republic II

'nuff said.

It could have been so good if it wasn't for the terrible, terrible plot and odd design choices! I mean, who makes the tutorial level 5 hours long???

Also I'd like to add Mercenaries 2: World in Flames to my list. AKA Airstrikes 2: Hooray for Airstrikes.

The first Mercenaries was an incredible game, in my opinion, and it was such a shame that the second one took a totally different route with the atmosphere and the gameplay mechanics. Also it was buggy as all get out......

I never completed the first game. I always got distracted when I decided to go after one of the cards. "Gonna get him, ooooo somebodies shooting at me from over there. Let's put C4 on the car and blow them up with it!." :P

I haven't really been that disappointed by a game.

the newest AvP was a little disappointing, but not very disappointing.

Dragon Age 2 was a great disappointment, and I haven't even played it yet. My brother got it and I watched him play for a few minutes, and it looked horrible.

Civilization V

I've been enjoying this series for almost 20 years... but I wouldnt play Civ V even if you'd pay me to. I've never been that let down by a video game, ever.
Im surprised nobody mentioned it. It wasn't pretty ont the Civfanatics/ 2k forums when that game came out last year (it's not much better a year after i find).

Alone in the Dark.

I remember seeing the tech demos for that game a few years ago, and they made it seem SOOO much better than it actually was. They totally lied.

The Witcher II, as well. While it was still a great game, CDP downright lied about some things. You COULD NOT walk to anywhere you can see. And they totally screwed up the Draug fight in the final build. And they totally lied about how optimized and awesome the RED Engine is.

Also, Dragon Quest X. Just because I hate the fact that it's an MMO. I wanted another Dragon Quest VIII.

And Mercenaries II. Just boring.

And Final Fantasy VIII. WORST. MAGIC. SYSTEM. EVER.

Jeez, I had a lot of disappointments. But I can't choose which one of those I was most disappointed in.

I have to agree that the majority of my time during the first week of owning Fallout New Vegas was spent googling various bugs to try to find out how to play it for more then an hour without it crashing on me. Despite this I kept with it and watched as various patches made it better and better and it has improved so much since those disastrous early days. It's not 100% reliable, but it's a lot rarer now to have it crash for no reason and this frankly astounding game can finally be properly enjoyed.

Yeah. I'm hoping now that the final DLC has been released, we'll get an ultimate edition to play sometime this year.

I think I'd like to add Dragon Age 2 to this list, as well

Mhm...

3. Oblivion. Pretty, but so soulless, bland and boring.

2. Dragon Age 2. I really liked Dragon Age: origins, and saw the beginning of a return to Bioware classics of old. Dragon Age was was just bad in every possible way, except the voice-acting.

1. Well, it seems to be Skyrim. Not that I know wether the game will be good or not, but no way I'll ever install Steam on my PC again. :flame: So it'll be a no play for me.

1. Command and Conquer 4. Not that this really counts as a 'game', because games by their definition are fun and I'm sure C&C4 was actually torture and EA should be tried for war crimes for releasing it upon us.
2. Unmodded Oblivion. Thank Azura for OOO, FCOM and all the other mods that saved it from remaining as a patronising, childish lump of crud.
3. Deus Ex: Invisible War. Can't believe this came from the same stock as Deus Ex. If this were his child, JC Denton would make it live under the stairs like Harry Potter and would NEVER be allowed outside.
4. Neverwinter Nights. Horrid camera, horrid graphics, horrid story. It was... horrid.
5. Halo. "ZOMG its teh best FPS evarrrr!!!". No. No it wasn't. It was skull-crushingly boring and possibly the most overrated game of all time (though I may have had my views coloured as I played it immediately after finishing HL2)

That was the best part of the first game, though, wasn't it? I loved being able to just walk around, see a particularly tall and evil North Korean structure, and call down a fuel air bomb while on my way to capture a card! :P

I'm playing this at the moment. I'm a bit in - just arrived in Trier, Germany. As a stand-alone game, it's quite good, but admittedly compared to the original Deus Ex, it's crud. :P

SW:TOR just spits in this KotOR fan's face (I hate MMOs). There are probably more, but I'm not thinking of them right now.

This.

It isn't out yet, but I'm already disappointed with SW:TOR because it's not KOTOR 3.

I'll be the first one to admit it....I enjoyed Fable III.

Yes, it had it's flaws, and yes, I didn't even realize I was fighting the final boss until it was over, but, it was still a pretty fun game, despite it not being an RPG in any way possible. Except for weapon DMG.

Fallout new vegas... Couldn't get into it for some reason. I guess it was because it used the same old engine as Fallout 3.

Thats a lame reason.

CoD BO. First time falling for the cod hyoe train. And the last time falling for the cod hype train. Dragon Age 2. Horrid game that EA should be charged with crimes againt humanity for releasing. Resident Evil 4. Found it on my brothers gamecube and tried it once. Never picked it up again. Lost Planet.

I never even liked Civilization IV, so I've never touched V. There's just something about II and III that IV didn't capture.

Dragon Age 2 because it was an abomination, especially when held up against DA:O. Fortunatly I foresaw this turn of events as early as the DA:O DLC was released. I subsequently braced myself for dissapointment, but it was still quite the slap in the face.

-Oblivion. I loved Morrowind but for some reason not Oblivion...
-Knights of the Republic 3 ... oh wait, there isn't going to be one, they're doing that MMORPG instead. :flame: (nothing against SW:TOR, but I still want a single-player KOTOR3)
-Stronghold 2. 1st one & Crusader were hella fun. The 2nd one was horribly disappointing, even if it was in 3D, and I hear the 3rd one is no good either (and no Skirmish).

League of Idiots Legends, funny because I am interested in DOTA2.
Also, I disliked DA:O , everything about it was boring to me.

Yeah, it's alright for what it is, but as Deus Ex's sequel it's impossible to judge it in any other light, hence the disappointment factor.

Still not bought the third instalment yet though... The mixed reviews made me nervous.

Yes so the good DAO DLC prepared you for how bad DA2 was?
