Your most disappointing game?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 4:46 pm

not dissapointede in the game per say, buy in my self. Dues ex hr and dark souls, Human revolution made me realize that i don't like heavy stealth based games, or really any game that i literally cant shoot my way out of the messes i make for my self. Dark souls just got old fast...what with the constant annoying deaths.

Every CoD after 4, probably never going to buy a Call of Duty ever again.

DA:2 was sort of a disappointment because you couldn't talk to your party members and the conversation wheel felt to Mass Effecty like. I also didn't like the characters that much either, but that's more of a personal opinion.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I don't know what to say about it other than I found it to be quite terrible.

I'll be playing the game because I heard it wasn't that bad.

I'd say The old Republic BUT I'm not allowed to talk about it. :hubbahubba:

...so going to have to say Fable III - I know, I know. I should be used to being let down by Fable games by now, huh? Next one looks fun though. Okay it doesn't

The original Fable. Back when it was called project ego all the promises and hype surrounding the game made me hugely excited. In my opinion it turned out below average and at times very poor. It's annoying because the game had alot of potential.... or hot air from Peter Molyneux

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I was disappointed by it as well, I wouldn't say it was better than average

There's your problem.

Anyone who expected anything out of DNF deserves to be slapped.

I found that in my attic on Saturday :D I was too young to play it well.
LOTB was much better since I was older and my brother was able to play along on the versus mode it had.

Sonic the Hedgehog for Xbox was also disappointing but atleast it was free with the console so no money was wasted..

Yeah, I felt the same way. I actually went on to enjoy the game in the end, but the ludicrously excessive amount of hype almost put me off completely. And all this foolishness about "Morrowind fans vs. Oblivion fans" which persists to this day, when in fact most people who play TES are fans of both.

As much as I like Oblivion, though, one thing that disappoints is that software wise, it's the most badly written, unmaintained piece of crap I've ever used: just having another play through and the amount of crashing is absolutely insane; for the stupidest reasons, too, really basic scripting stuff, packages that lack a target and the most frequent, "because it feels like it", because they made such a total and utter mess of its memory management. It's not Gamebryo, which is often blamed, since it works just fine elsewhere, it's the complete mess that Bethesda made of it. I'm genuinely worried about Skyrim being the same or worse. (For the record, Morrowind was no better, especially Bloodmoon which is so bad it makes even Oblivion look stable.)

If you think Oblivion is unstable and buggy, try and play Morrowind without any patches.I did, when the game first got out,and it crashed every 10 mins or so,though the latest patch made the game pretty stable. After playing Morrowind,i was actually amazed at how stable the Oblivion was.
As for my most disappointing game,it has to be Dragon Age.I just couldn't get into it.Never bothered with the sequel, obviously.

Knights of the Old Republic II. This was a mixed bag, the characters were mostly wonderful, and the first three quarters of the game absolutely did the original justice. But then it completely fell apart with character arcs left unsolved, and plot holes the size of a Sarlaac.. I have no idea how Obsidian manages to stay in buisiness, I've never known a decent game to come out of them.

Fable 2. I loved the first Fable (bought it off the shelf, completely unaware of all the Project Ego hoorah). But the second was an utter ruin IMO. Last boss was an absolute joke, and I dislike their modification to the Troll enemy

Then you obviously forget that Obsidian used to be Troika, which used to be Black Isle.

You are aware KOTOR 2 was going to have a longer ending. A large part of it exists in the game files but because Obsidian was rushed, like they always are, they never got to finish it.

Also
NWN2?
New Vegas?
how where those bad in any way?

NWN2:Mask of the Betrayer puts NWN1 to shame, and New Vegas has been hailed by Fallout fans as the game Fallout 3 should have been.

I'm aware they were pressured by LucasArts for a quick release. I do wish the TSL Restoration Project had been able to finish it's work, nonetheless, KOTOR II remains my most disappointing game. Fallout New Vegas was absolutely infested with bugs at release. Invisible crash walls, dead baddies falling through walls/the floor, I returned it after less than a week. Currently waiting for the inevitable "Ultimate Edition" with all the DLC included. I've heard it's a bit better now that the bugs have been ironed out

Erm, I guess the original Neverwinter Nights. Dunno, it just seemed shallowand arcade-like, the story was pretty predictable.

Oblivion, sort of. I tried playing it vanilla, and shelved after a week's worth of play. It was just dull - not alien nor original. I found the TIE mod and tried again, then I finished it. OOO made it playable as well

Agreed. Especially after the tour de force that was Baldur's Gate 2.

It was probably Oblivion. However, once some quality mods started coming out I started to enjoy the game.

I have to agree that the majority of my time during the first week of owning Fallout New Vegas was spent googling various bugs to try to find out how to play it for more then an hour without it crashing on me. Despite this I kept with it and watched as various patches made it better and better and it has improved so much since those disastrous early days. It's not 100% reliable, but it's a lot rarer now to have it crash for no reason and this frankly astounding game can finally be properly enjoyed.

I think it was NWN as many said. Big deception after Baldur Gate series.
I did not like Fallout 3, not because of the graphics, the storyline (decent but not transcendant) or the music. No, it was just the stupid gameplay which killed the role-playing and 'realism' of this game.

Then slap me cause I liked that game :P. It could have been polished up a bit (namely the only carry two weapons at a time could have been done away with) but all-in-all I liked it.

Oblivion. While I did like that game, it was nowhere near as good as Morrowind and Daggerfall.
