is it the same texture remplacement like this projetc?
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=329

hmm not really, I see a lot of picture use in that texture packs, no pictures are used here, so it's build from scratch. It takes longer to make, but I can keep the spirit of the original textures alive and mend it to my will to fit perfectly with the game. :)
Also the textures in this one will be a lot sharper. I'm not bound to 2048, there are 4096x textures as well.
But the concept will be the same I guess, it's a texture pack haha :D

I like it. In my opinion I want to see all the default textures done away with, so more power to you.

I don't know, those other bricks seem to neat to be part of that bridge. It's just my opinion, but I think that having it remain stone would seem better. I'm loving the pack either way, though. :)

Yeah I have mixed feelings about it too. But those bigs stone pillars look bad in the original imo, while the bridge looks nice. I'll fiddle around with it more tomorrow.

Both look nice but I actually like the stone bridge of the original better. It seems to fit Skyrim more than the brick bridge in the "after" shot.

This probably isn't quite the direction you are looking to go with this in, but personally I like the way the vanilla bridge looks. IMO all it needs is to be a bit more detailed to show off what's already there..

For that last shot today, the one of the bridge, I'd just adjust the balance of red vs green/yellow in the redder stone parts of the texture to match the look of the original more, and I think it would look great.

I'm also creating all the Normal maps for each texture, so no stock textures will be used. I also put in a lot of efford in fine-tuning the new normal maps by hand so that every texture looks the way I want it to :)

Here is a screenshot of "faceplanting" your character against an object :D :

That's one of the reason I haven't bought skyrim yet *-* I'm waiting for hd texture packs and I'll get the game at a lower price! Anyway,I don't really like the "after" image of the bridge..it looks somehow "modern"

AaGeOn, are you going to do the texture pack for whole game or just for a couple of places? I hope you are doing for the whole game! And thank you so much, I`m not gonna play the game until your texture pack!! Thanks again.

I cant figure out Bethesda's logic. After pouring through the games textures, some of the textures are as high as 2048 but most are 512 / 1024. What doesnt make sense for example, some wall sections for caves are 2048 but the adjacent texture is 512 or 1024. I can understand keeping some textures low res but why not at least remain consistent with the tiling? The only reason would seem that they came up on severe space / memory issues and arbitrarily reduced as many textures as they could to meet a specified requirement.

This is interesting. Ever since I saw the first footage of Skyrim I had noticed and wondered why some textures in game looked fantastic (as far as console ports go) and yet others looked like [censored]. Now it makes more sense to me,

Indeed I'm making it more consistent and more PC worthy :) That's also why the game is small in filesize.

AaGeOn a big thank you in advance for your hard work. I bought the game on release being one of the most if not thee most anticipated game this year along with Battlefield 3 but started it up on Ultra settings and saw little difference between my version with a £400 Radeon 6970 2GB graphics card and a 6 year old Xbox 360 hardware, sure from a distance things look a little better but up close my god it's an insult to PC Gamers. After seeing these textures i couldn't play the game in that state so to see your pictures with the hi res HD textures was a God send, i'm sure the gameplay is amazing but after playing Battlefield 3 and Witcher 2 i can't go back to graphics like this, so once you've updated all the textures that's when i'll start playing Skyrim, how long wait do i have until you've finished reworking all the textures in this game? I simply can't play games with low res textures.

Betheda shame on you for releasing these textures, NEVER FORGET YOUR ROUTES, PC GAMERS MADE YOU THE COMPANY YOU ARE TODAY!

Still need to add bigger "black" spots to it :)
But imo the original lacked depth and detail.
The white Birch/Aspen bark is supposed to be smooth. You don't need to make things bumpy for the sake of making things bumpy. Higher resolution is all that is needed.

the final Birch tree will look like this: https://secure.flickr.com/photos/ulri/47426210/lightbox/
I'm not making everything bumpy, the original texture had almost no depth whatsoever, not even in the parts where there should be a little depth.
The one you see in the OP is stated as a not final version. The black parts will have more depth and the white will be smooth.
Higher resolution isn't just all that is needed, without a decent normal map it will look flat and unrealistic...

I think the default looks better here http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s5/AaGeOn/ncom2.jpg At least the choice of texture that is.

Other than that, nice work

The default looks like someone painted the tree white. His has real wood look and no blur... (IMO)

Birch Update 17/11: A fine tune here and there and I think it's a finished texture :)

Wonderful texture work. I definitely can't wait for a final release... The rocks are one of the most important facets of the game's graphics. Your new textures are lookin' fantastic :D

The shader in charge of the Dynamic Snow "paints" an object white, but still takes the bump map into consideration. The lo-res textures really affect objects in the snowier regions of the game. It makes the effect look cheaper than it probably is. The rocks already look much better, so I salute you.

I can't wait to see what else you come up with. I have noticed that you have completely changed certain textures. IMO, certain textures, like the rock walls in Whiterun already have decent textures. I don't think EVERYTHING, needs to be changed. So I'd try to use the games textures as building blocks as much as possible. I was planning on working on armor sets once the Creation Kit comes out. The armor looks great in the game, but it also suffers from lo-res textures.

Anyway, jolly good. I pray for thee to have great success. You're doing a great job. :D
