Beths top 10 mods bundle for consoles ?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 11:45 am

Whos for or against the idea of bringing some of beths fave mods from the creation kit community to the console community. Even donate profits to a charity or giving the users the option to donate money to charity.

I think its a little harsh that there maybe a divide between pc users and console users considering we all love the game and to move forward in life its better to give than recieve. I agree hard work should be rewarded but imagine not everyone on the planet will ever have there work featured on a ps3 or xbox system. Good career profile builder..

for the modders
would you still mod if beth implimented an agreement in a future update that ment modders had to agree that work posted online could possibly be used on consoles?

just a thought sorry if someone has already brought this topic up.......

I'm sure they wouldn't mind. It would mean more boasting that they are superior than us console phesents (or so many call us since we can't afford a decent gaming computer). I mean this with humor guys, don't get angry over it.

Really though, I'm sure they wouldn't mind letting us console players admire their hard work. However, Sony and Microsoft don't allow 3rd party content and so on so Bethesda would probably have to make their own versions of popular mods made by modders and release it that way.

idk, if it's free sure Id like it, otherwise I want separate DLC from the minds of bethesda. nothing against modders, but the mods were built for PC, and if bethesda would have to 'copy' the idea just because microsoft wouldnt allow 3rd party stuff, Id say just leave it alone.

Oh, this topic has been brought up a thousand times already. At least.

Anyways, considering they'd have to go through and test all of those mods, make sure they were bug free, compatible with each other and their DLCs and make sure they didn't negatively impact your performance... I'd say not likely. That's a lot of work to give something away for free. And, personally, I'm not real keen on the idea of them selling my hard work.

This. Plus, even if they did do all that the chances of Sony and MS signing off on it are minimal.

No not the have to agree part. There should be a "if this mod is successful then Bethesda will contact the user and ASK if they can use their mod for distribution to consoles" thing. Just taking their work is wrong.

this was what i thought they'd be doing when they said there is a possiblity of having mods on consoles.

Take the top mods of a month and bundle it into DLC.

Wouldn't be surprised if it or something like it becomes downloadable over XBox live for a fee. I did get a lot of adds-on for Oblivion.

Cool....yes, going to happen. NO.

The reason why? Because before it could be ported to console Bethesda would have to double check everything for bugs, not to mention licensing issues on certain content.

Not to mention, what defines a 'top 10 mod' there are plenty of mods you would use that I dont.

Moral of the story, if you want mods, play PC.

It's been suggested before (Several times quite recently) an dthat answer is more than likely still, Not Happening.

First, What determines the Top Mods? Downloads and Ratings can be misleading.

Also, popular mods could be unsuitible for consoles. Content may be against rules and the mods themselves may require third party tools such as Script Extenders, which won't work on consoles. High rez texture mods and mods that push the limits of hardware would also be a no.

Next, even after selecting said mods Bethesda still needs to send them through their own teams to check, bug fix, test, repackage and test again BEFORE sending them off for MS and Sony to certify. Thats not a cheap process and it also costs money to put DLC onto consoles, so it's not something they are going to do out of the goodness of their own hearts, so they'll need to recoup their costs. Thus the package won't be free.

MS and Sony will then want a slice of the pie. So you'd be looking at the price of the avergae DLC. And thats if they're okay with third party content of this sort of scale on their systems.

Modders aren't going to want to see their work being sold and not getting a penny from it (Regardless of what the EULA says), we may end up seeing a tearing apart of the community as some modders only distribute mods between friends and others start charging (And thus land themselves in legal hot water)

For now, mods are PC only.

Lets pretend Microsoft and Sony got high and said “OK”

Top 5 mods would ruin your game and maybe turn your console into a neat yet bulky paperweight

I got an idea, SHUT UP WITH THESE THREADS!

Want mods? man up and save a little money to build a computer, doesn't have to be a 2k-5k rig either...although it would be awesome if you're into that like many of us are :)
mods can't and will NEVER be for consoles.

Stop complaining with each release, this goes on every time. and never changes.
Consoles are ruining this series and have already ruined many others.
the youth for this generation is very ignorant and stubborn, not to mention stupid. ( and this is coming from a 22 year old male )

Read the EULA for the use of the CK for mods, you'll be surprised

Actually theres no divide,it's a generational divide.

Let me explain, how old is the box and p3? 7 seven years old.the technology that most pc players have at their fingertips is generally from 4 years old to todays pc's but the consoles are still at year 7 and rising,it's not a hate issue the consoles should be at comparatively four years behind not 7.

Direct your anger not at the game studios but at the two biggest culprits in the world.Sony and Ms.

Hell i'm thinking of getting an xbox just to replay the halo series and when the new consoles hit i'm gonna go get one but at the moment theres no exscuse but profits those manufacturers get from you for gaming on a old machines.

I think it would take Ms on xbl to have an area where you can download mods to the box and p3 and xbl can scan/run/trial the mod on your box/p3 before letting you play to see if your machine would crash or break,if not sweet ,if so then no download.

Beth has already tried to talk to Ms but was flatly refused along time ago.

Your narrow minded and are the foolish one. Not every person can afford a gaming rig dear sir. Other wise, people wouldnt be playing on consoles durr. I hate pc players who look at everyone who plays on consoles as "consoles are ruining the series, have ruined many others, and that the youth for this generation is stupid."

Seriously, shut the hell up about TES being ruined because of consoles. You guys have enchanced graphics, mods, THE ABILITY TO MAKE MODS, QUESTS, ECT! and download them with a click of a button.

Guess what? Your console version of Skyrim is already full of player made mods! Player made mods for Oblivion, that is. Crafting, marriage, cooking, even the interactive bookshelves were player made for Oblivion.

1. Beth has no mods. They are 3rd party work.

2. Beth has contractural obligations, which would be hard to include 3rd party work into.

The only content which will ever be available for consoles under current arrangements and technology will be wholly internally developed or contacted dlc. Sorry, but that is a fact of life.

Not everyone can afford a Corvette either. The cavalier owners of the world don't bellyache and complain about how the corvette owners get a faster car than they did everyday. Very bad anology I know but it's kinda true. You knew what you were getting when you bought the game for console. No one forced you to buy the inferior edition. It was your poor decision. No one else's. And money isn't a factor any way. Skyrim was announced how long ago????? So long ago that $15 a week saved back would have bought a pc with all the extras that would have easily maxed out skyrim.

I actually like the idea and would support it

I would like to see "SKYRIM WARS" hit the consoles, theres no end to getting hit from all sides by dragons and dremora just walking down the road to rorikstead.

A Technological division guys, thats the problem,if the consoles were kept uptodate then the game studios could develope more bigger and better games.

considering some people get defensive on this subject I find it rather sad. why would you share your mods with pc users and not console users. you are giving them free to pc users right? my point is why not give them away free to console users. Its the same game for goodness sake. if you want mods by a pc.. let me ask you this. the next time you upload a mod and a menu appears on your screen asking you to agree (since its beths software your using) in uploading your content it could be used across other formats including ps3 and xbox. would you agree and click yes ?

they could also look at anolytic data to see which are the most popular mods rather than sifting through millions of content...

Lol do you guys here this guy?

So your saying console players complain about pcs more than you pc players diss us console players. Hell, you were the first one to even mention being superior to console players in this thread, and no one was even discussing that. And that "save 15 dollars a week thing" is stupid. You think it's easy like that? Some people actually dont have their mommies help them buy a game rig or have it easy as you make it sound like. I have to buy groceries, children's needs, school, ect. I speak for many when I say this.

We get it, pc is superior then console in many ways, but can we go one day, just one day without snobby people like you calling us poor stupid youths who can't afford a pc? Just one dude. Just one.

[censored]. For the pc players who don't parade around their rig and diss us console players, I thank you, and so do many other console players.
