[REL] Cloaks of Skyrim

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 7:25 pm

Do you mean consider an .esp where only Stormcloaks wear cloaks and no other NPCs do? The Stormcloaks do already wear Stormcloak-specific cloaks in the mod, if that is what you are wondering?

Yeah..

Oki-doki, version 0.6 is up. Let me know if you come across any problems, because even when I think I've got everything covered something always goes wrong

Cloaks of Skyrim version 0.6
-both cloak styles are now finally available to both genders - a rough hide cloak, and a smoother linen cloak. They are craftable at the tanning rack and have been distributed throughout the levelled lists as before.
-two more Holds now have cloak-wearing guards.
-couple of minor tweaks to levelled lists.

Important:

Version 0.6 makes a pretty big change to the mod. Regular cloaks now use the rough hide mesh, while the newly-added cloaks use the smooth linen mesh. This update enables both cloak styles to be worn by both genders. If your female character was wearing a cloak from a previous version, it will now appear as the rough hide style due to the changes made. If this is a massive inconvenience, you can quickly re-add a smooth linen version of your previous cloak via the console with: help "linen" and player.additem CODE 1 ... or you have an excuse to go out adventuring again to find a new one!

Download it at the http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12092

very nice thx for the update

any word on getting permission to include the imperial capes made by Prometheus ? ...also it would be cool if you could add some dirt to the cloaks and make them look a bit older and used ...at least the linen clothes...or maybe it is possible to use automatic variants ..some cloakes could be more old..dirty or have bloodsplatters on them...not hundreds of colors and patterns but some nice small details... .winks StarX and Insanity Sorrow

keep up the good work

I noticed in your video that you had cloaks with hoods. How do I craft those? I know there are several crimson, black, tan, brown cloaks in the list but it doesn't say if they have hoods. Or if they even do. Do they?

None of the cloaks are hooded versions, unfortunately. I'm not the creator of the videos, but I've just taken a quick look again and it appears to be the Nightingale Hood that is being worn with a cloak.

I am using a mod from Nexus called Craftable Monk Hoods that works nicely with the cloaks.

What slot does this use when equiping? Can you wear your normal gear, or are you out of another piece of equipment when used?

The cloaks occupy an unused slot (46, and 40 to remove tail-clipping), so can be worn without replacing an amulet or any other equipment.

Awesome! So does that means extra equipment slots are possilbe, you have added a new equipment slot to the game, now with the extra ring mod, Skyrim has the same about of equipment slots of vanilla OB. Hope more can be added like the extras slots OB got with mods.

Some mods already add some accessories using these extra slots. One mod adding earings and clamps, another for some glasses, horns, halo etc... look in the nexus you'll find plenty. I don't know if the modders refer to a common resource to track the use of equipment slots, but in case of conflicts one can pass the info in the comment sections of both mods and maybe the modders can agree to use different slots (all the while not affecting the vanilla equipment, of course).

There is a thread in the Creation Kit area discussing the extra nodes available, and a consensus on what type of accessory should go where: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1344290-body-part-ids-for-unused-biped-nodes-consensus/.

Being 1024x1024, I think I'm happy with the way they look so far.

I'd love to equip my character with a cloak that looks like the one aragorn is using: more like a trench-coat than the cloaks seen here.
Basically more of http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/135/aragornfigure18inchl.jpg/ and less of http://chanarchive.org/content/61_tv/917851/1202805425670.jpg. :D

That is a coat. I seem to remember that someone made something like that for Morrowind.

Yeah, I'm sure some dustery, trenchcoaty type things will appear eventually. I personally love the style seen in the film Brotherhood of the Wolf. Big flappy medieval French leather coat thing, in a delightful shade of brown. I can see that being worn in Skyrim.

And Porscha, looking good! That texture looks like it especially suits the white cloak, looks great!

Version 0.7 has just been uploaded to the http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12092.
  • fixed Player Only.esp so hopefully no-one will be seen wearing cloaks they shouldn't be! Please let me know if any show up
  • added Thalmor and Greybeard cloaks (hopefully the first of many unique-ish cloaks to collect from locations around Skyrim)
  • two more Holds now have cloak-wearing guards
  • blue cloaks without the Windhelm/Stormcloak symbol available to be crafted again
  • changed naming style to avoid issues with the comma, and now more in line with Better Sorting
  • tweaked/improved a couple of Hold cloaks
Let me know if you stumble across any issues with the new version.

Hi Noodles1, great mod and I'm happy that it's compatible with Hypothermia.

I made a little retexture just for personal use, just one of the cloaks for now. Let me know if I can post a screenshot of it here.
If you like it, I'll make more and you can use them freely in your mod.

Ok, stand by just a sec as I fire up the game.

Edit. Here it is. http://i.imgur.com/fDoby.jpg
I did this real quick in like 10-15 minutes. Didn't do the normal map yet so this is with the standard NM. I also want to add some details on the left and right side as to look like it's stitched or has a rounded edge. This might take a bit more.

Also, I have a quick small question on your textures, but I'll PM you about that one if it's OK.
