Crysis 2 Beta exclusive to 360?

Post » Sun May 23, 2010 7:09 pm
didnt u guys realize that almost everyone on gamesas was primarily PC player, then you announce the beta stuff on a website riddled with PC gamers and just a handfull of console gamers?

i guess the logical consqeuence would be there would be a PC beta(or all platforms but at least PC) now it suddenly turned out to be a xbox beta,(on a site that still has much much much more PC gamers then console gamers)

and what now with the early registrations? you just NOT gonna keep promises of beta acces or is this gonna be: hey you got beta key but do you have a xbox? no? well svcks to be you no beta for you
k thanx.............
What you said I doubt will be the case. It's like going in order. 1st: 360, 2nd: PS3, 3rd: PC. I can see that in the time-frame Crysis 2 has now, we may get to test the near final version of the game, which means most things will be fixed.

You must remember this game is going Multi-plat for the first time, yeah? So I can assume their going to spread their wings in new territory first before returning back. So I suggest you chill. We don't know the full extent to what's going on.
I can totally understand your frustrations, but we did not mention what platform the Beta was going to be on. I personally asked which Beta we were getting and highlighted the fact that we already have a large PC community. The decision was made to go with the Xbox 360 beta first, I can't change this.

Crysis will never be on consoles only, we do understand where we are and what has gotten us this far, but we went multi platform for a reason - to bring the Crysis universe to everyone. Please don't take it personally when we announce the first 'Closed Beta' to Xbox 360 users only.
Thank you for the responses Lee. It must be that since the Xbox360 is a new platform for you guys and the weakest hardware wise, that you want to get testing on that first. :) I can understand that very well, and hopefully you guys can get all the issues ironed out okay.

I personally am calmed down completely, but it still very annoying that the Xbox360 gets all the attention here anymore. But still, the possibility for other beta's/footage in the future is fine for me. ;)

There was miscomunitation and the Beta is NOT a Xbox exclusive and will be on all platforms. So come on guts stop bashing Crytek. Support them by preordering the game and encouraging them to make Crysis 2 a great game! :)

I wouldn't hold my breath Talon. No offense intended to you community managers who have to take the brunt off all this rage, but I've gotten accustomed to being let down by the support from Crytek.

I no longer have any expectations for a pc beta or demo. I now have my concerns as to whether C2 multiplayer will have even half of the features that made C1 multiplayer great (great weapon feel and fast paced game play enhanced by the incredible maneuverability from the nanosuit), or Crysis wars (sandbox and auto downloader on dedicated servers and improved vehicle balance and performance).

Lee you can claim that Crytek is staying true to its roots with pushing the limits of PC gaming, but it is becoming obvious that the suits in the offices are trying to dumb down a great action packed series into another mainstream shooter that encourages a flat line game play aimed at leveling the playing field for 11 year old crybabies that think they should be able to pop a disk in, play for 10 minutes and own everyone in the world. The same type of players might play the game for a few weeks before they move on to another similar game. This is replacing a game that rewards those of us that have put in 1000's (yes 1000's of hours) of hours practicing, competing, mapping, modding, and just having fun trying to make the most enjoyable online experience in gaming.

I can't help but wonder if the new modules available for the suit were developed to help slow down the game play to keep us fast paced run and gun players from overwhelming the beginners.
I can hear the discussions now: "All of the 'tank' style players are owning all of the 'stealth' style players about 5 kills to 1. We need to even out the playing field and give the 'stealth' style players an advantage."
Hmmmm...I wonder if that could be because the 'tank' style players practice about 10 times as much as many of these 'stealth' type players, and understand every weakness and strength of each suit mode and weapon. There should be a discernible difference in a beginner and an experienced player. I know there are some of you stealthy players that have played just as much as me if not more, and you are probably very good. But most beginners overuse the cloak without knowing its limitations, and therefore fail to see when it has an overwhelming advantage (noisy shaded locations) and fail to realize the most important disadvantages (it makes a loud buzz, when you shoot in cloak you lose all armor, and it always casts a shadow in lighted areas).

I'm not trying to put down anybody here, as I have an xbox 360, and I'm glad to see the series expanding to new platforms and reaching new players. However, I don't understand the apparent transformation of the series in order to cater to these new audiences. We already lost a lot of the re-playability in the switch from C1 to C wars due to the simplification of weapon mastering. After a year of C1 multiplayer I had still not peaked in learning the recoil of every weapon, but it took me about 2 months to peak in C wars and I've been bored with the game play since. The only thing I continued to work on was the perfection of the suit transitions and strafe jumping. Now it looks like that has been removed. If it weren't for the auto downloader and sandbox I'd have long moved on to something else.

I've been excited about this game for over a year, but I can't say I'll drop 60 bucks on it if there is no beta or demo for PC. I can't see paying for something that is worse than what I already have been playing for almost 3 years.

Frankly I am mad about the Crysis 2 beta on xbox only... the point of a beta is to find glitches and get feedback from what players think, like blizzard does with there games (not saying crytek should be like blizzard). But PC gamers are the main crytek fans, I loved Far Cry and I've played Crysis since day one even to today! I was just playing the first one this morning! So can you honestly tell me that the opinion of people who don't know anything about Crysis games (not saying thats everyone) to a person who has been playing Crysis for years is the better choice??? What ever happened to the saying "we will always put PC first"???
Hi guys,

Just so you know, we are definitely having a closed Xbox 360 Beta some time this year, but we haven't ruled out a PC or PS3 Beta either. This was merely an announcement that we were going ahead with the Xbox 360 one first.

We understand that this may appear to be us turning our backs on the PC community, but please be assured, this is not the case.

As soon as we have more information regarding Betas you will hear it here first!
Many thanks Lee, that at least calmed some people down I said at the outset not being in Beta wouldnt worry me, and it hasnt, tottaly agree with Shinanigans, as per my prviouse post.
Some people need a refresher on what a BETA actually is. It's primary role is NOT to be a demo, even if that is an offset result.

Why are Crytek announcing a BETA for 360 and not PS3/PC (yet?)? Because by definition of what a BETA is, it's the one that needs to be tested most.

The fact that this is a closed BETA is further testament to this not being a money stunt as it will have limited access which will result in limited attention. The fact that they haven't announced a PC BETA eases my mind in the hopes that it doesn't NEED to be BETA tested.

- Did i BETA test Crysis1? Yep! Was good fun too.
- Do i want to play Crysis2 as soon as possible? Of course i do.
- Am i going to cancel my pre order because 360 gets a BETA and PC doesn't? How does that even make sense?
- Am i going to suggest Crytek are abandoning PC because they want to BETA test their first console game ever? Do i even need to answer that?

I'm with you guys in the fact that i want to play Crysis2 really badly but jumping up and down, screaming "**** YOU CRYTEK!" is just plain absurd. You guys are always abusing "console noobs" for being what they are but quite frankly, some people here are really painting PC gamers in a dim light...
Yet still there are whispers of
" not getting game if" and
"OK, better get it later though" and so on,

I am a big Crytek/Crysis fan, Beta or no Beta, I'm in.

@Cry-Lee
Moving on to more pressing matters, I see the limited edition now listed for pre-order, but as yet NO Nano Edition.

As this Nano Edition is of very limited stock, and only available on pre-order, and a must have for the True Die Hard Crsis fans.

Will we found out here first, when this becomes available and where from, or will some of us discover that we lost out through lack of info at the right time, ? :-)

Meh, it just seems that the entire game is being dumbed down to fit on the xbox, so you can understand the frustration when the game is basically being advertised as 'omg xbox ftw' :D

Show us some PC footage and i guarantee the rage towards crytek will subside, unless, of course, it doesn't match up to the original, in which case just duck!

Wow, i′m a very tolerant guy but this is sarting to become really frustrating.
1. Crysis on consoles (well every company needs money to survive)
2. First footage of the game shown on xbox (thought the pc version would be shown at e3 with full dx11 settings)
3. No pc footage at e3...
4. Partnership with microsoft for xbox plus a 360 exclusive game ( okaayyy that′s **** up why are they betraying the pc community)
5. no dx 11 pc footage on gamescom (only with dx 9 settings on a **** 360 controller!!!!)
I just recently became a hardcoe gamer but it seems like everyone only looks at the console market (except for blizzard) if they wanna make a AAA title. It′s really sad all the great fps are on the consoles not because i hate consoles but because of the sacrafices(graphics, leveldesign, controlls etc.) the developers have to make to be multiplatform. It seems like after the launch of this console generation so much casual gamers bought cod and their overpriced map packs that everyone thinks the pc is dead and only WoW geeks play on them seriously it′s freaking sad.
I still have a little faith in you guys don′t let the money fool you look at what happened to infinity ward because of the money.
sry i wrote so much but i had to let it out ^^

Well good to see Crytek isn't excluding or alienating the other 2 platforms with BETA possibilities. Either way I'm fortunate to have both a 360 and PS3.

Of course i will buy the game, but it is realy frustrading that all games are going to consoles. Clear the firm needs money, ok but isnt it like the pc community is much bigger than any other?
we all love crysis, we all love the glitches, bugs and so on!
In my opinion it would be much better to give the fans what they deserve, would be a very positive thing for the community!
