Have you met any in real life?

I think so. I was almost attacked by a bear once while camping.

Did you warn the bear to read the rules before attacking or else you'd report it to the mods?

I like the moderators on this site. They don't do close threads or ban members without reason and respond positively to questions.

I have never meet one of them in person nor do I have much contact with them.

I am somewhat indifferent to having more contact with the Moderators. I see no negative sides with it, but it isn't on the top of my priority list.

In general, do you like the Moderators here?
Sure.

Do you know any of them personally? Have you met any in real life?
No, but I lived in the same neighborhood that CCNA used to live in.

Would you like to have more or less contact with them?
I don't really care one way or the other.

Anything else you wish to add?
I like pie.

Hello! I'm posting this on a few different forums because I'm interested in studying how members interact with the forum staff on different sites. If you would please answer a few simple questions for me, I would be very grateful.

Apologies in advance if any of this is against forum rules.

The mods here are the [censored]. They do a great a job of keeping the place troll free, which is why I like these forums so much. Freddo, Summer, Bootysweat, CCNA, Rohugh, Leydenne and Hungry Donner to name a few are always on top of things, I see them lurking constantly keeping the forums clean. Love the mods here, better than most forums. Miltiades I like and remember from a long time ago, before he was a mod.... but I haven't seen him on here in a while.

In general, do you like the Moderators here?

In general, yes. Although I find the Mod I have encountered the most on here to be a little too incosistant. Occasionally he'll be far too overzealous and ban someone or close a thread for seemingly no reason. And yet at other times he seems to be completely uninterested and does not follow up on PMs.

Do you know any of them personally? Have you met any in real life?

No and No.

Would you like to have more or less contact with them?

Both. More contact in that we could question them or raise an issue without fear of a ban. Less in general.

i think the mods here are friendly and reasonable and in one of my cases, lenient

not like another forum (no names) which i got banned from for posting about a typo in their one and only game (a recent platformer which involves a red cube of meat and buzzing chainsaw thingies)

Of course you can, send a PM as problems you may have on the forum are best dealt with that way. You will receive a reply and why should fear a ban, it generally takes a lot to get banned from the forums.

I love this forum and the moderators. After visiting other forums such as the Call of Duty forums or the Battlefield forums, this place is about as tame as it gets on those interwebs. I've never had a problem with mods. I think they're all great. And Rohugh has the best desktop backgrounds...

Both. More contact in that we could question them or raise an issue without fear of a ban. Less in general.

If you avoid a couple of things, I can truthfully say you won't get banned for asking a question or raising an issue.

First thing: Don't send shock porm in your pm.

Second thing: Don't start your pm off with something like.. "Are you out of your [censored] mind you [censored] faced [censored] idiot? Are you naturally [censored] or did you study to be that stupid?" Even that would usually be a warning and suspension for flaming rather than an outright ban. [Unless the person was on their last warning, of course.]

Generally questioning our parentage, species, gender preference and giving specific directions on where to go and what we should do once we get there should usually be avoided as well. Most of that would end up being a warning and posting ability suspension, though, except in the last warning case thing. [We log complaints and issues in the Admin/mod forum so the admins can see what is going on if the poster wants to take their issue to Gstaff or Nick. It can be rather interesting to see the creative language people can come up with at times.]

Oh, saying you pirated any games would also be on the "not a good idea" list. There are very few insta-ban offenses in the rules, but the ones that are there are enforced.

The members here make our jobs easy. I have been in couple of forums where I think "This place needs some moderating, good thing I am not tasked with it"

Yep. Overall I find that the forum is pretty civil, some sections more than others. But members are usually pretty fast at reporting trouble before it turns into a real mess. Which is good, because a thread full of people breaking the rules takes a while to sort out.

I think there are a fair few people who would testify to there being a very real risk of a ban for questioning moderator actions.

If you want to discuss it via PM I will gladly do so, sadly I am not allowed to do it on the open forum.

Ban them all and let Gstaff sort them out.

It could also be considered a paraphrased, re-worked quote by Arnaud Amalric. But that is off-limits.

One thing that can be said though, is that the moderators here seem a lot more approachable and friendly than at most other places. Less elitst about their responsibilities and priviledges.
