I am part of the princess' guard covenant atm, but no luck. I have been summoned 1 time in total.

Perhaps I should join Way of White?

EDIT: As I was typing this I got summoned :P

The high attunement was simply so that I could have healing miracles equiped at the same time as I have offencive ones. Less attunement means you must choose one of them. Ranged was limited to the greater lightning spear miracle, 10 uses. Nothing stops you from doing a divine long-bow though, or using the darkmoon bow with moonlight arrows (very high magic damage). You need to join sunbro's to learn the two basic lightning spears, but you can use those even if you leave sunbros. It's only the sunlight spear that requires you to be part of the covenant to use it. (it requires 2 slots and has only 5 uses.. it's a terrible investment IMO). The force and wrath of god miracle in PvP must be used tactically. If your opponent knows you have it, you lose the element of surprise. 40 seems to be the new limit.

As for poise and rolling, why not choose both? You can find the darkwod grain ring by killing the invisible ninja guy from the forest covenant (only appears when you join them) and in addition to that, you can use the wolf ring or havel's ring (or ring of divine favour and protection). The grain ring allows you to roll at 49% equip burden and the other ring you choose will either make that limit greater, or directly add poise. As a general rule, the bigger your weapon, the bigger your poise should be.

Thanks again gorbad.

Geez never realized it was ONLY sunlight spear that you had to be in the sun bros to use. I never quit the sun bros on my first faith build cause I didn't want lose greater lightening spear. Good to know that you can upgrade to the second tier lightening spear, quit, and keep the miracle.

So far I went poise + med roll. Wolf ring + plus Divine Favor ring. I'll try wood grain if I get enough END to ditch divine favor ring and still wear some armor. I just hate the slow END regen when wearing heavy armor.

Is regen affected by how much heavy armor you're wearing? Or does wearing any heavy armor automatically nerf END regen?

Just realizing how great poise is in PVP, especially when youre hosting. If you have to "swing off" w/ your opponent you can always make them take a hit. Very useful fighting aggressive phantoms w/ light armor.

Anyone know how poise really works? Is it a " dice roll " or is it the amount of DMG your taking that determines when you'll be stunned. What amount of poise do you think one needs for PVP?

I'm unsure about the exact mechanic behind poise, but it seems each weapon have a poise breaking value (which can't be seen) and if you have enough poise breaker compared to opponents poise, you'll stun him. If you have twice the poise compared to a weapons poise breaker, you can take 2 hits without getting stunned etc. Bigger weapons naturally have larger poise breaker.

As for End regen, you can buy 99 green grass consumable thing that allows for End regeneration faster. They don't cost that much, but come in handy in all PvP situations and boss fights.

I believe I was about SL 65ish. I hit SL 70 by going through the painted world and finding all the souls lying around. Plus I had quite a few in my inventory because I always stockpile, then forget them. :P

The gear I had (and still use) was a +4 Furysword, +10 Longbow, +1 Eagle Shield, Ornstein's set with the Gold-Hemmed Black Hood instead of his helm, The Ring of Favor and Protection, and Havel's Ring.

Snip

Thanks I finished that place last night.I manged to chop the wenches tail off too which was hard since she was invisible.I should use fireballs next time. Those skeleton wheels in the tight passages were the worst thing in that place I think.

Your SL and equipment is very similer to my own.I am only getting around to using a boss soul weapon now though.Just farming to buy some stuff I need to make a couple.I can make the furysword and/or the greatsword of artorious, i'm just worried they will take some getting used to.I have been using a plain longsword+10 for a really long time now, and I like its move set.

Beat Fatboy slim a while ago. They only killed me four times...I think that's good.I killed the big one first and then just cheesed the tall boy with poison arrows. When can I expect to buy his armor, and from where?

Also
Spoiler
I put the Lordvessel on the alter.I recognized three of the places I need to go next, however one of them looked like it was in a cave and I have no idea where that is.Is that the New Londo Ruins?

Any Ideas on the best order to tackle these four new bosses?

You get his (or Smough's, whichever you kill second) armor set from http://darksouls.wikidot.com/domhnall-of-zena At this point in your game he should have moved under the aqueduct at the Firelink Shrine where you find the ring of sacrifice.

As to the Four Kings, I have yet to face them, so I have no tips. Sorry.

Edit* My bad, I read new londo ruins and four bosses, as four kings some how. (Though that is one of them.) I've only taken Gravelord Nito down so far. I recommend making the Crystal Ring Shield from the Moonlight Butterfly's soul if you haven't already. It's not great for blocking, but if you have a high attack power weapon in your right hand, doing its "bash" attack can do some ridiculous damage. Your character basically throws a ring-blade of light at your target. For me with the +4 Furysword equipped I was doing like 426ish damage each "throw."

Another tip for the Nito fight. Do not go charging in. Have a holy weapon equipped and wait for his three skeleton guys to come to you. Take them out with that so they won't reanimate. Then wait for Nito to come to you. If you go to far into the area you will pull some giant skeletons which is not a good idea at all. They die when you kill Nito, so you don't have to worry about fighting them afterwards.

Love the fat man and little boy fight. Better than some of the Lord Vessel fights.

Bed of Chaos, I'm looking at you. :stare:

As far as the vessel fights your looking to go to:
Spoiler

New Londo: Four Kings
Lost Izalith (below Demon's Runis) Bed of Chaos
Tomb of Giants: Nito the Gravelord
And Crystal Caves(from anor londo to duke archieves to crystal caves): Seath the scaless

There's also a handful of mini / optional bosses as well.

I'd take your time and explore the covenants and optional areas before putting all the souls in the lord vessel. First time I finished I realized there was many more things to do before starting ng+.

I chose a Hunter and gave him that thing that makes a thing appear on a corpse. Anyway, I like playing the bow using guy, and the beginning, with 30 arrows, was not gonna happen. So after I ran out of arrows after dying the 3rd time, I beat the tutorial boss (so much ass slashing). I explore around and get a chuckled out of the zombie's messages and get nabbed by a giant crow. As we're flying, I'm complaining to myself about how if you hit a button to do action B while doing action A, you'll do action B when done action A, such as rolling again or drinking a health potion. I tell myself that if I wanted to roll again, I would continue mashing B while I'm rolling to make sure I roll again. I don't need predictive controller commands. Then we land. I wander around where he drops you and find a path that goes down. So I head down there, meet two friendly looking skeletons who proceed to whoop up on me. I was very confused as to how much the difficulty jumped up. I wasn't doing any damage to those guys! So I run back down, grab my souls back and decide to just run past them. I find two more skeletons, then three more skeletons and Giganto-Skeleton. That's when I go "THIS IS MY FIRST REAL ENEMY ENCOUNTER!?!" After I respawned, I looked around and saw the path that went up. Meet the first guy, two swipes, he's dead. "Ooooooh....damnit." Get burned a little, run up, Sparta kick the dude off, kill some more people and a rat, then roll off the edge and die. Respawn, run back up, kill people, Sparta kick fire guy, the camera auto-locks to the guy above me, I'm not expecting it, I'm holding back, it turns me around, I back off the cliff. I think "Welp, I'm dead." I land on a ledge below me. There's either a skeleton or a zombie, but either way, he's not happy to see me and he has a big sword and shield. I'm so stunned at the situation, I can't react and he kills me.

I respawn, press start, go over to quit game, go down to quit game, yes, hold the jewel, turn off console.

My first hour with Dark Souls.

The graveyard is a bad place for starters, you should go to undead burg and go to the graveyard after level 30-40.

@Outlander and Ratt
Thanks I was feeling a good deal lost.Ended up in the catacombs...not a good plan.I did indeed make the crystal shield. Its attack was not doing much damage to the giants in Anor Londo, but I will try again with some different things in my right hand.I also made the furysword and upgraded to +5, its my new best friend and its arcs are tight so I am not missing the thrust from my old weapon too much.

I think I have already killed all of the optional bosses.Ceaseless discharge, two undead dragons, Priscilla, Stray demon, Hydra and the Gold golem...I better check the wiki and see if I missed anyone.

One thing though, the dude that sits at Firelink shrine that you talk to when you first arrive, he vanished a good while ago.He was complaining about Frampt so is that why he left or is it a glitch?

Edit - Domhnall is not in the aquaduct or his origional spot in the sewers...wtf?

@Spanky
Its just the learning curve that is giving you trouble.Things get much easier when you level and upgrade your equipment. This is a game with its own set of rules and you will learn what not to do.

You are heading in the right direction by going up the cliff. You will arrive in a place called the Undead Burg. You will find another bonfire up there along with a merchant you can buy more arrows from.If you are getting your ass kicked by certain enemies just leave that area until you are stronger.

Try this guy for tips, tricks and treasure. The vids will show you a good order to do things in.Helped me a bunch when I started the game.

I made my first few attempts to slay Gwyn.
At first, I tried to beat him by dodging and avoiding his attacks. But I had no luck closing his fast attacks. I love that fight!

I had to resort to Stone Skin spell, and already I was doing better. But tank playstyle is something I've not done so much and it is far less enjoyable.

Is Crystal Weapon spell any good? it requires 25 Intelligence to cast and currently I have only 16.

Crystal magic weapon with that low Int isn't good. You'll need 32 intelligence, the crystal catalyst and only then will it be worth it.

But is it something worth of investment? Currently I'm on SL81. Would have to double my current Int.

As long as you have a weapon that gains power from dexterity or strength and it CAN be upgraded, yes. It adds 400 damage.

@Crashdown, you can upgrade your crystal magic shield. The first time I made it, using my occult winged spear in right hand, I OHKO'd the giants in anor londo. The shields missile takes power from your right hand weapon, so the bigger weapon, the better.

1 time use because of the crystal catalyst. If you use a normal catalyst it has 3 uses, but only adds like 250 damage. (rememebr that you also need to beat your opponents armor rating to be able to deal heavy damage, the difference between 250 damage and 400 could be more than 150 because of this).

Anyone on Xbox live willing to do some jolly co-operation? I'm on the last room towards the belltower, the one with the zombies and the sorcerer just past the knight. I'm playing a knight btw.

Do you have a Short bow, you could use that against the sorcerer, just stand at the bottom and pelt him with arrows. The Sorcerer is a mini boss so he won't Regen if you die. As for the zombies head up towards the room until they start coming then retreat and kill two at a time. If you do it correctly you should get through with maybe a 1/4th of your health knocked off.

Basically what terror of death said.

Playing a knight also.

Try and pick off the sorceror from a distance, or he sometimes lures out. Not very often though. You can hit him with firepots through the windows just before his room.
Then i just stood at the arch/doorway so that only 1-2 zombies could get through at a time.

Once you kill the big guy it gets a bit easier.
But then you have worse ahead so..

Try checking down below firelink shrink. Stairs are just behind the tree beside the bonfire. Usually sits down there

It may take awhile for Lautrec to show up in firelink, beat a boss or explore a new area and check if he shows up.

For the bell gargoyles, go to human form (reverse hollow @ a bonfire). If you got the white stone from solaire and activated all the dialouge he should be available for you to summon near the boss door. There should also be other low lvl players that are using summon stones as well.

No humanity? Put your own stone down to get summoned, beat the boss in coop, and you'll get humanity.

Still having probs? Farm souls, buy shards from blacksmith upgrade your kit.

I went for a walk (I REALLY needed one, only slightly because of Dark Souls) and rolled a Pyromancer, got up to level 15 and then went back on my knight, I wen't into a jolly companionship, got me through the sorcerer and let me free the prisoner, then I went to the top of the bell-tower and got the gargoyle axe. I did the same for a warrior afterward.
