Dark Souls Continued

I defeated Gwyn.

Spoiler
I just massed all my stamina regen gear and tanked him with Murakumo and Stone Skin. Pretty easy fight, he just kept staggering as I swung my sword...
Ending was little disappointing though. (I went with good ending, how it affects to NG+?)

Ending has no impact on ng+ whatsoever.

Oh how i love my current build. I realized around level 40 that I simply can't stay that low and OHKo everyone.. So I took myself up to 72. I have 45 vitality (or 44, 46 can't remember) but I have 1938 HP ;) Mother's Mask and the lautrec's divine favor and protection ring sure give a very nice boost! Currently using a fully upgraded pyro-flame +5 (the advanced version), a fire great scythe +8 (need 2 more chunks and it'll be +10), a lightning bandit knife +3 for backstabs (still need 3 titanite chunks′for that to be +5 and actually be better than my scythe). For armor I use two pieces of havels set, boots and gauntlets. 56 poise. Torse part of "pardoners armor", found in painted world of ariamis. It looks cool (imo) but the mother's mask somewhat takes away from that awesomeness, but it's just too good to be ignored.

Just killed Queelag and Ceaseless Discharge, is there a quick way back to Firelink Shrine? The lack of central hub is really grating on me, having to slog thorugh areas again just to get to vendors etc is really getting old and putting me off completing the game.

Soon enough you will gain the ability to warp between certain bonfires.Firelink is one of them.Head to Anor Londo if you really must have it now, but be aware that the boss fight there is one of the toughest so far.I witnessed a guy beat them at lvl 30 though.

Edit - Thanks Gorbad, my crystal shield is very effective now that I know what to do with it.

Whoever put TWOP and Ring of Fog in this game needs to be fired from FROM.

I actually miss trolls from demon's souls using scraping spear and acid cloud.

Hell, if I summon someone using TWOP or fog, I'll message them to not use it or just black stone em'.

But it does feel good to kill some TWOP scrub. So,so,so good. How do you lose using TWOP?

I wish there was a book of the guilty for people who choose to use TWOP and fog. Wonder if that'll make in the patch.

Good lord when is that patch coming out so we can have real pvp.

/rant.

Thanks for listening.

/rant.

Thanks for listening.

I nodded the whole time I was reading that.It just means we can't use that feature of the game unless we don't mind dealing with those tactics.I would love to pvp someone where we are both locked on, probing for openings to strike etc.

I dunno if they should change it though, unless most people want it to change.

I'd also fire the guy who coded Strong Magic Shield spell's code, instead of blocking 100% damage upon blocking and draining no stamina, it blocks all damage from everything even if you aren't blocking and if you DO block, it drains your stamina!

Is that the place under Firelink? I went there but encountered ghosts that couldn't even be attacked so I just went back. Now I'm in some fortress filled with ridiculous cheap traps and swinging axes. Ugh, I'm actually nostalgic for Demon's Souls now.

Anyone else notice the glaring deficiencies of the DS mulitplayer? Low population and there is no friggin stable way to play with a friend. Single player is great but that is what I am getting Skyrim for. I and many others wanted DS for PVP and co-op in a harsh unforgiving game world. They say anything about a friggin patch yet?

They have promised us a patch, but not I doubt they'll get it out before Skyrim.

It's not the low population. Is the P2P system them have for hosting games, instead of the dedicated servers that Demon's Souls had. Coupled with other factors like the, honestly, ridiculously narrow level range and the fact that nobody really has ANY incentive to play as a Human instead of a hollow...it turns the whole experience into a ghost town even though there are likely millions of players out there.

Playing with a friend or anybody specific is down to luck, hoping you get put in the same random choice of clusters when you turn on the game.

Unfortunately THAT is the one thing they can't fix with a patch. You don't just patch in dedicated servers. :P

Well I meant low amount of summoning population lol. But I am pretty disappointed in this game. Sure single player is fun but there is no friggin story to speak of so I am playing for two things. Challenge, and since it is friggin easy maybe in comparison to Demons Souls or I got much better than I thought, I am not getting that challenge very often.

Co-op and PVP are the other reasons I loved Demons Souls. Actually met some chill people on there I wanted to play with. Even then I don't mind that I cannot play with them so long as summons are available. They are not basically, that is the problem. I think it was a big oversight on the devs part tbh. Being Human in Dark Souls has only a few advantages and those advantages are not clear to most people so most people just sit around as Undead.

PS You get better drop rates as a Human and Chaos weapons beat the [censored] out of things once you have about 20 or more humanity. Devastating stuff. I think there are other benefits but they are almost inconsequential.

You need to look at the actual AR of the weapon, not it's damage.

You can play with anyone you want, it just takes a long time. My friend and I tried connecting for half an hour before I said let's continue tomorrow. Just that second I get summoned by him, lol. We died shortly after even though I told him "dangerous ahead, i can tank the enemies you use spells", he was a lot further into the enemy lines than me and I was using iron flesh.. I can't help you there buddy! We'll try to connect again tomorrow, the game has honestly lost it's solo magic for me and I'm looking forward to play Skyrim for the next 3 months.

Anyone know a way to make grinding more enjoyable? I'm trying to make my way up to level 20 before I take on the Gargoyles so I am more prepared for the next area.

I listen to a podcast or audio book when I need to grind. Well, I do that all the time during Dark Souls honestly. Since it really lacks in the story department. (Not a complaint, just saying.)

So I am at level 23 now, killed Havel at the bottom of the tower(took a few tries) then went into lower undead burg, I killed the Capra demon second try, first try I got stuck in a weird position with the camera in that small area and got beat up. I thought he was pretty easy, I could block all his attacks minus his jump which if he landed on me I just made some distance and healed up. Im liking how everything is connected to firelink shrine so far lol.

Anyone got any good recommendations for a powerful faith build one handed sword? Thinking about an Occult weapon as it has better scaling. Maybe gonna use Astora's Straight sword and max it out. Idk. I am at SL 60+ and have not played the game for weeks. I am sick of the Drake Sword at this point and Straight swords are my personal preference.

Lots of good points here. Lots of people are playing, but were just not connecting w/ each other.

For example, throw on that cat's ring. Sometimes your getting summoned once every 2 min. Other time you go 20-30 min w/out being summoned.

In human form, you head to a boss door. Sometimes you'll have a ton of signs, other times very few.

Most of the time I don't have too much trouble summoning in the predictable places, but invading or being invaded is few and far between. I think I've been invaded less than 10 times. As far as invading w/ a cracked red eye stone MAYBE 3 times (haven't joined the wraiths so I haven't been able to attempt it very much w/ the limited supply)

Honestly FROM has confused the hell out of me. They put in all these great covenants that are obviously geared around multiplayer. But the p2p system has put a crutch on the entire multiplayer system. I also thought they'd improve the lag issues as well, but the p2p system seems to have made it worse since your not always connecting locally. Yes I want to play internationally, but not at the cost of getting lag stabbed by everyone not in my direct locale

Some say that the multiplayer works as it was intended. Random meetings in a vast and lonely world. Though I can appreciate that vision, and I do feel that the vision is fitting for a game like dark souls, the bottom line is that people want to game with their friends.

I really hope they can do something to fix this. This game is such a vast improvement on demon's in so many ways, yet these tech issues seem to be holding the game back. Keep those fingers crossed.

I'd go with a divine weapon, it kills skeletons permanently so they can't respawn. Very handy in a boss with who has a few skeleton minions with him, just kill 'em with your divine weapon and they are dead.

The astorias straight sword is a good early on weapon, but I'd say a cunstomly made +10 divine sword would beat the artorias sword +5. For a few swords, look here: http://darksouls.wikidot.com/weapons

However, when doing a weapon that has two different types of damage. (divine and occult both have physical and magical damage) you need to take into account opponents armor. The bigger the weapon on these weapons that split into two attack types, the better. For example, a straight sword might end up doing nearly no damage at all because they have a very low base damage. A claymore is what I'd use, it has good base damage without being too big and slow.

Ah Havel the rock...I was so young back then, and died about 40,000 times trying to kill him.Had to take all my armor off and beat him with my disgusting necro - flesh showing. You can get his weapon, shield and armor later on if you like pretending to be a mountain, and moving about as fast as one.

About time to trade this in.

It was fairly fun.

About 1000x easier than Demon's Souls.

Awkward combat, lack of story and no future (no DLC)

Still a good modern classic RPG.
