Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #24

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 10:42 pm

Now for some bizarre speculation : Why is Dawnbreaker called Dawnbreaker? Wouldn't Dawnbreak be a more appropriate name given it's effects? What if Meridia's purpose is not to 'bring the break of dawn' as it were, by destroying the undead, but to break the Dawn, i.e. return to outside of/before the convention of the wheel? There is evidence she is Anuic in nature unlike the other Daedra, and is one of the Magna Re, denied the passage that formed the stars, and left to create her own plane(t)s [sphere obscured to mortals, closer to Aetherius/the stars torn by her brothers and sisters?] Why does she hate undead? Goodness of her heart? Or petty revenge on the co-conspirators who got her escape thwarted? Maybe she wants out, and the last Dragonborn could be just the avatar/replacement/mantler (CoC and Sheo give a sort of precedent) she needs to join the Magna Re and possibly the Dwemer, in escaping the wound coils.
Where in lore does it say meridia is good? It says she -presuming its female- is viewed as not entirely evil. Her enemy is Molag Bal, who is the father to vampire, vampires are undead, because of that she's probably punishing the undead because she can't hurt Molag Bal

I would never.. in my gaming lifetime... pay 40 for a buff. I hear the distant horse armor chinking already.
....................
On another note, while we may see new things for vampires, I sincerely doubt this expansion's main addition is vampires or vampire related simply because half or more of the Skyrim player base... don't play as vampire.
Thats why DLC are optional ^^
Yes and no. DLC = extra $
The best way to sell something is to make it likable for everyone.

hmm i just searched the uesp wiki and they dont have a page on the snow elves, and in "fall of the snow prince" it didnt say anything about them being exterminated, but some of them did flee.... i hope for the sake of my theory that some are still around somewhere, maybe underground...?

That's because you need to search using the word "Falmer" as Falmer ARE the Snow Elves.

a flock of people in the last threads, I wanted to bring it up..since they seem to be Arrows more than anything. I'm positive Bolts in the style we're talking about did not has Feathers

Thing is Bethesda diddnt really go for a authentic medieval style when it comes to Skyrim's weapons and armour, as far as the average joe is concerned the arrows in the Dawnguard teaser could very well be crossbow bolts and considering that even before the teaser crossbows were rumoured to appear in the next DLC it seems quite likely that the arrows on the Dovahkiin's back are in fact bolts even if they dont use the right fletchings or the shafts are .002mm bigger than authentic medieval crossbow bolts as you medieval warfare experts might claim.

I think by now it's obvious that it's most likely about the Volkihar vampires. gotta say I'm dissapointed if that turns out to be the case. never really cared for TES vampirism

What if they make them super badass and cool? Ill admit that so far the implementation of vampires in previous elder scrolls games as well as their implementation in the current version of Skyrim is less than brilliant however if they are going to be the center of this new DLC then perhaps now the devs will give them the attention they deserve, if you read up on the lore the Volkihar sound much nastier than the ones we see in game, their ability to reach through the ice of frozen lakes without breaking it sounds pretty creepy.

Also I am not sure of this but werent there some underwater fighting animations added in the new patch along with the crossbow animations, the snow elves and the vampire feeding?

Not trying to be rude, but where in my post does it say she is good? We all know good and evil only apply to a Daedroth's interactions with mortals, not to their actual natures, I am merely questioning the motives behind an influence on Nirn that might be classed as 'good' in effect.

All the ideas here are idiotic. Falmer and Snow Elves? Snow Princes? Resurrection? Honestly it sounds stupid.

Dawnguard... Dawn is the rise of the sun. The sun signifies life. If we're guarding light, or something Aedric or divine, we're in all likelihood defending from death. So, I expect an expansion to the Vigilants of Stendarr and Vampires - two things left basically untouched in vanilla.

So. I think there might actually be a diverging main questline - maybe siding with a Vampire bloodline (volkihar?), or with the Vigilants depending on your moral compass. Naturally there'll probably some betrayal plot (Think. Three of the guild questlines involved betrayal. Although Ancano's wasn't really that unexpected... The point still stands), and maybe a secret Meridia worship sect in the Vigilants.

Whops, xD sorry
If this DLC will include a deadric prince, hopefully it would be stealing their power XD

Life? isnt the snow princes life, classified as your sun life? anyway I really hope it will involve the volikar, imagine that, you're traveling through the planes of skyrim, as you walk across an sheet of ice something pulls you down... xD

poor cicero vampires dont pass through ice, only volkihar vampires do. I'm guessing its going to be a DLC that sends you to soltheim to find out what going on with the falmer http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Falmer:_A_Study and then you find out the snow prince is organizing the falmer to retake skyrim

You know one little detail I want in any dlc, even less important than the bug jars, but it would make me very happy? A nice bottle of 399 for the cellar. How much would that be worth now?

I think it will involve a secret clan of Snow Elf vampires that are trying to prevent the Thalmor (Dawnguard) from repeating what the Dwemer did. The player will gain access to a dragon form. :mohawk:

The Thalmor don't want to do what the Dwemer did. They want to do worse - they want to take the entire world back to the Dawn, before Lorkhan tricked the gods.

Search on the net for "E3" or "dawnguard" and you'll find the answer yourself

That would take too much effort, you could at least send me a "let me google that for you" link.

The Thalmor don't want to do what the Dwemer did. They want to do worse - they want to take the entire world back to the Dawn, before Lorkhan tricked the gods.
And according to MK, they are not about half measures :

"To kill Man is to reach Heaven, from where we came before the Doom Drum's iniquity. When we accomplish this, we can escape the mockery and long shame of the Material Prison.
To achieve this goal, we must:
1) Erase the Upstart Talos from the mythic. His presence fortifies the Wheel of the Convention, and binds our souls to this plane.
2) Remove Man not just from the world, but from the Pattern of Possibility, so that the very idea of them can be forgotten and thereby never again repeated.
3) With Talos and the Sons of Talos removed, the Dragon will become ours to unbind. The world of mortals will be over. The Dragon will uncoil his hold on the stagnancy of linear time and move as Free Serpent again, moving through the Aether without measure or burden, spilling time along the innumerable roads we once travelled. And with that we will regain the mantle of the imperishable spirit."

I'm sorry Apple pie, but that theory is just idiotic and ridiculous. It probably has nothing to do with the Falmer.

Q: what faction exists yet is basically untouched?
A: Vigilants of Stendarr. They have no quests or anything, so they're a prime suspect to be expanded upon in an expansion with content which should have been in in the firsg place.

It's pretty obvious they're a placeholder for more content. I don't see why we need to make an elaborate plotline conspiracy theory. If we do go to Solstheim, I want a Bloodmoon Event.

this weeks announcement was pointless... UNLESS its a big coincidence they decided to announce the DLC officially on the tenth year anniversary MORROWIND, i.e bloodmoon might be a clue you never know
bloodmoon=solstheim
